I have a question for the guitar tech heads on the list.
What has better intonation stability? A fixed bridge guitar or one with
a trem.
Just curious
Thorin
Fixed bridge should be better for intonation. But Trems are more fun :-)

The Genesis model could be good news. Assuming they follow it, the Beard
has at least two more albums before Alan Morse goes Hackett and the band
subsequently downhill. And two beats none, eh?

One perhaps should add that your choice of bridge/trem does influence the
sound.

Just thought I'd warn you guys - I just got another BugBear e-mail; this
time froim nocalc@lmco.com. The Reply address is most definitely spoofed -
"lmco.com" is the domain for my employer, Lockheed Martin, (i subscrieb to
the jam at home and at work) and "nocalc" is not a valid username.

Actually, this might sound weird, but when I was first learning about SX, Divine Wings had just come out. I heard some soundclips from I *think* Masquerade from the self-titled (He said the word tragedy in it, if that helps), and Pharaoh from Divine Wings.
I thought the first was a lot better vocally. Of course, NOW I think RUssell Allen is a kickass singer. But I wonder what I'll think of that self-titled album when I eventually do get it (It's the only one of theirs I don't have besides the Live at the Edge of Crappy Production).
I do find it odd, though ... I read somewhere that the band themselves only think of the self-titled CD as some crappy demo or something. Heh...
Anyway, SX rules.
>>> Now, it would be very funny if the Beard had a similar increase in
popularity now much like Genesis did. Although hopefully they steer
clear
of the pop crap Genesis evenutally churned out (Invisible Touch and
We Can't
Dance). If the Beard can manage an album like say Trick of the Tail,
I
would be quite happy. <<<
Actually, while I think We CDan't Dance kinda sucked ass except for like ONE song, I actually like INvisible Touch quite a bit, It isn't a progressive album, so I guess I'd be annoyed at them if I were a big fan of early Genesis, but taking it for what it's worth, it's a really good CD.
And I actually don't like Trick of the Tail a whole lot (Ain't I confusing? :). I did like Lamb Lies Down... when I heard it, but to me, it's still And Then There Were Three that's often overlooked.

Wish me luck, folks... this weekend I'll be seeing Dream Theater 3 times: Friday night in Dublin, Sunday & Monday in London. Let's see if I still like them after that!
The Dublin gig has received zero publicity here - I have not seen a single poster or mention anywhere, only an incorrectly spelled on in eventguide.ie with no more details. Anyone wondering about the venue can take a look at http://www.vicarstreet.com/events/dream-theatre-181002.shtml - apparently it's been enlarged, which makes sense, I thought it was a bit small...

An interesting theory. Let's hope you're right. Will D'Virgilio be able to do justice to the old Spock's tunes the way Collins did for Genesis?
> >Here's an odd little theory. With Neal Morse's departure and Nick >D'Virgilio's impending promotion to lead vocals, I was struck with a >comparison of sorts with Genesis. After a double concept album (Lamb), >Gabriel (thought to be the band's core) left abruptly. Phil Collins who did >a few lead vocals obviously took over. Very similiar. > It was my understanding that Genesis interviewed a bunch of other vocalists before realizing that Collins did a better job than any of them.

If the Beard can manage an album like say Trick of the Tail, I >would be quite happy. > Genesis went from a mostly darker style of lyrics to a lighter one as time went by. Perhaps Spocks will go from a mostly lighter lyrical style to a darker one. :)

Howdy all,
I havent been around this list in years...just resubbed to give you guys the opportunity to snag some of this stuff before i put it all on ebay. i'd rather see this stuff go to hardcore fans than to record shops or whatever that will be reselling it.
there is some really rare stuff here, and dozens of items signed by the entire band. even a couple of things signed by kevin moore and the whole band at that time.
i'm planning to go back to school full time to get my masters degree in the spring, so i need money more than i need my music collection. i also have a lot of rush, queensryche, and king's x stuff that i could part with.
there is much more dream theater stuff, but this is just the stuff that i had time to type up at lunch today. i'll be taking digi pictures of all of this stuff to put on ebay, but in the mean time, if anyone is interested in the whole collection, or on specific items, please email me and make an offer.
please be realistic in your offers...
email brian@magpu.com
PS = picture sleeve WL = white label
if an item is listed multiple times, then i have multiple copies. each listing is a unique item.
