share some more of her one liners in the form of a top ten list......

10--" Just as sure as there's a "heffer" in Texas"
      9-- " ...so...."
      8 -- "turn that down !!"

      6 -- " knock you out "
      5 -- " are you smoking in there? "
      4 -- " and your point is ?"
      3 -- " life is like a box of chocolates "
      2 -- " I have a headache " according to my Dad any way...
... and the number 1 One liner from my Mom
1 -- Just what on God's green earth IS an "Ytsejam" anyway??"

My Top 5 one liners are....
      5 -- " Good one "
      4 -- " and how is your mother? "
      3 -- " nothing personal "

"Being a hippie" was a product of the circles of Bertrand
Russell and H.G. Wells. The whole counter-culture, baby boomer,
post WWII U.S. was a way of keeping people's minds off of the
pressing questions that got resolved in favor of oligarchists,
fascists, and utopians without anyone noticing, or even if
noticing, without understanding it. Seemingly it worked - you,
among others, seem to focus on the "political and 'somewhat'
musical history" of the time period.

Well, two things. First of all, as I already mentioned, it's a
cultural mindset, to get people away from classical form, of
education to begin with, and of manner of thought throughout
their age, for a culture of "go along to get along." It's
ridiculous, I'll agree, but it has nothing to do with these
    people's individuality.

Second of all, just because you're an individual, a sovereign
mind if you will, does that mean that your tastes cannot
coincide with someone else's? As tasteless as the tastes may
be, it doesn't seem improbable that a couple of thousand people
that all like something and come out together to enjoy it. The
taste itself is a secondary matter. I mean, I'm sure you have
been to DT and other prog rock shows, the variety of individuals
in attendance is mind-blowing - people from all walks of life.
A lot of them wear DT shirts. Analogous, no less. Some people
will say, similarly to how you said regarding Phish, "Who'd want
to listen to the fucked-up scales in weird time signatures
really fast?" "Who wants to hear songs with such complex
structure?" "It's so heavy, all it boils down to is noise."
All it is, matter of taste and preference.

My main point here is that people who emerged from the 60s were
brainwashed to think they're individuals making free choices.
They didn't choose shit - just one or two things from the plate
someone stuck in front of their noses.

Once again, they've done well to divert your attention from
what's really going on. The economic conditions in the world
are abominable, and that's really the biggest issue behind
everything. The virtual disintegration of Argentina, Brazil,
Italy, and several others, shows that the IMF system is
painfully obviously flawed, the floating-rate exchange standard
of the Nixon (or, should I say, the Kissinger) administration is
going nowhere, and the New Economy is dead. Our culture right
now will not allow us to build our way out of the depression
like we did in World War II, yet the depression is pretty
inevitable. And if Bush is allowed to continue, and let the
U.S. economy go under, we're in for Huntington's Clash of
Civilizations, and soon after a new dark age. And you say
there's nothing to fight for? There's a lot more to politics
    than war.

    > And I have no problem with drugs...and drugs shouldn't even be

    > stupid in the first place.

    Fully agree.

On one last final note, I didn't really get what people hate
about Phish so much. I mean, granted they could use a lot of
help, but just because there's only one chord, doesn't mean
there isn't melody on top of it. I'm by no means defending
Phish, don't get me wrong. It's just that the way I've always
looked at it is, let them do their thing. Perhaps it's not the
drugs, but the combination of drugs and one-chord 46-minute jams
that made them stupid... who knows.

Anyway, just felt like I needed to say something, that's all.

    - Ilia.

    Hate to nitpick (alright, I don't), but Phish/Disco Biscuits/Grateful
Dead/etc ain't stoner rock. Stoner rock, aka stoner metal, is fuzzed out
heavy rock like Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet, and Kyuss. Jam rock's the label
    you're looking for.

I know it's easy to judge musicians by their fans, but Phish (and Ozric
Tentacles and even the Dead) aren't their fans. They just happen to get
lots of hippie-wanna-be attention. I'm sure they say the same thing about
Dream Theater being musical snobs. I'm sure DT aren't snobs, but some of
their fans come off that way. The same with "The Cure". I like the music
of "The Cure" (even if Robert Smith comes off as an arrogant SOB
sometimes), but their fans drive me insane. Phish is a very talented bunch
of musicians. Trey Anastasio on Oysterhead is incredible. Junta is a
    fabulous record.

I'm not criticizing your opinion; I'm just hoping you're not missing out
on some fantastic music just because of some rock groups overzealous fans.

Hey, can I be in the flame war, too? OK, here goes nothing:

All you people who wrote about phish are really stupid and I hate you. I hope you all die horrible screaming deaths. I listen to Rammstein and Hank Williams and nothing else. Anyone who listens to anything else sucks. Eat bloody death chunks. Especially people who encourage us to have open minds. You suck even more bloody death chunks.

How was that? I know I should have made more typos and used more improper grammar, but this is my first flame war. I promise I'll get better.

    Howdy all,

I just received another virus here at work, and I'm wondering if maybe it came from someone on the jam, since this is about the only mailing list to which I've given my e-mail address at work.

I don't think this was the BugBear virus, though. This one had an attachment called "W9X-650.ZIP.scr" and was sent from "Mirjam Biemans [bimi2_99@home.nl]"

Any of this sound/look familiar to anybody?
