Hi Eric. No, this would be the official Dream Theater VHS "Live in Tokyo" released back in 1993.

    http://tinyurl.com/36n3d

Released back before Awake came out.

That part is absolutely the highlight of the performance on that video. I remember playing that thing in the VCR all the time in 1996, and one of those times time my girlfriend at the time said during the guitar volume swells in the beginning of JP's solo in TLF, "Hey, this is a Beatles tune. I think it's on Sgt. Pepper." The next day she brought over the record (remember those things?) dropped it onto my turntable, and lo and behold, she was right. Side two, song one, "Within You Without You."

It sounds a lot cooler the way Petrucci plays it. ;)

After only listening once, I am impressed. James sounds REALLY good on this album, better than Mullmuzzler (which I always thought was cool but I thought James wasnt in such good shape). Some cool proggy stuff, some acoustic stuff, some ballads, some heaviness, and some solos. These guys rock! ----- Original Message ----- From: Alexis Ramos To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 7:49 AM Subject: Frameshift

Happy Holidays everybody! I recently got the self-titled album from the "band" Frameshift, and I am certain that this will be THE album of the year for me. What an amazing album!!! Musically, it's progressive yet accessible, with some slow, incredibly beautiful and catchy songs, and some heavier tunes that balance the cd perfectly. The songs are extremely well crafted, with no excess fat that one would think needed to be trimmed off. I think this album has a feel similar to that of Conception's "Flow", perhaps mixed in with a tiny bit of Spock's Beard or Neal Morse. The musicians are incredibly good, especially Henning Pauly who plays almost everything. There are no wasted notes on this album, despite the fact that it lasts for over 75 minutes. And, to leave the best for last, the vocals are simply stunning!!! This is definitely one of James' best performances, period. There's a lot of feeling on his delivery, he sings all along his incredible range, and simply shows a masterful control of his voice. The main focus of this album is definitely on his voice and the message he's expressing through the lyrics, evidenced by the fact that there are no long instrumental passages (which, by the way, are not necessary and I'm glad they did it that way). The topics dealt with in the lyrics are all related with evolution. It's pretty weird at first to listen to scientific lyrics, but the topics are so interesting (at least for me) that one gets used to this weird feeling. This album has a lot of highlights, but I think THE highlight of the album is the song La Mer. Stunningly beautiful, with a catchiness that just makes you try to sing it screaming off the top of your lungs, with goosebumps all over your body!!!!! This album is amazing, a masterpiece that everybody needs to have in their collection.

    And this wasn't a paid advertisement :-)

Sorry, but when I wrote the review I forgot that the album was called "Unweaving the Rainbow", not Frameshift. And Jan-Michael, what the hell are you waiting for??????? ;-) Throw that baby in the cd player already.

I also wanted to recommend to you guys the web site www.primuslive.com. In this site, you can buy for download any (or all) of the concerts in Primus' recent tour, where they played a different first set every night and then the entire Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Every concert comes with its unique artwork, and the sound quality is quite good (despite the mp3s being only at 128kbps). The prices are pretty cheap for the amount of music you get, and you also have the choice to get the cds in another format which is lossless. I think what they did is great and that DT should think of doing something similar in the future, if they change their setlists every night.
