Yep. Not a bad way to spend 25 dollars, eh? Good stuff.
It's nice for newer fans to get their hands on some rare tracks, such as
version ONE of ACOS with Kevin on keys.

Chad, I've just received it!!! Really cool!! This is the first fanzine I
get and I'm impressed, lots of photos from the tour, really good quality
    and an incredibly good CD.

I'm glad I finally joined the DTIFC!

Just a personal opinion here, but Spawn was one of only two movies I have
ever walked out of at the theater. I think the other movie was "dark city"
or something there abouts. Mileage will vary!

    Quick question of opinion...

The Iced Earth Album, "The Dark Saga" (1996) is a stunning musical and
    lyrical
tribute to the story of "Spawn" of comic-book and movie fame. It's a really
cool, dark tale actually and the album compliments the movie nicely.

Now given that, should I decide to have a friend of mine enjoy a "Spawn"
    night
with me, should the album come before or after the movie?

    Any opinions are welcome!

    Dave,

I would drive by your local comic book store and pick up a trade
paperback on Spawn first. Or rent the HBO cartoon first to watch. I
think that this would be a far better intro for a "Spawn Night"

The movie they made of it is absolutely horrible. Don't waste your
    money.

As for the Iced Earth album , "The Dark Saga", I wouldn't let that be
the introduction into Spawn. It seems to hang people up on the Satanic
    thing IMHO.

Does anyone else think this somg is absolutely brilliant? The layers, and
singing, everything is so emotional. I know it gets slated a lot, just
wondering if anyone out there has any taste. ;-)

Bel canto voice training allows singing and growling without any
risk of damage to vocal chords. Absolutely anyone can be
trained to do either, using that technique - fact of human
anatomy. People like LaBrie, Tate, et al, do not, at least not
100% so, and not 100% of the time - they mainly rely on the
flexibility of the muscles in their throat, and perform
exercises to improve that (Eric, correct me if I'm off on this).
I have yet to hear Opeth, but I know there are a few death
metal bands out there who have had proper classical training
(bel canto, in the tradition of Bach, Mozart, etc).

Then again, properly using register cavities for voice
projection (without risk of damage), requires tuning all
instruments to middle C at 256 (A=432). I think that makes
"standard" Eb tuning too low, and E tuning to high.

Can our power of human reason allow us to continue with eyesight
lost, in a similar fashion as we have in the past? I know that
people who can't see from birth or shortly after get on
amazingly well, but what about losing sight in mid-life? And
how it comes is a question too, whether gradually or
immediately. That's probably a factor too.

Saw this great movie, Dancer In The Dark, highly recommended.

This whole debate kinda makes me wonder what it's like to be
Jason Becker. Seeing and hearing, yes... but not anything else.
Best way to get to know oneself, that's for sure.

    I have taste! I swear!
However, I found that disappear was (flame wars will begin here probably) Jordan's way of trying to sound like Kevin. While I think he made a great song, the song doesn't sound like Jordan...
I agree that the emotional level is very high on that song. It has such a sad melody, and one of the best little bridge parts ever (the "I gave you my hand, said it's okay..." part) =)

Darnit... listen to some Opeth tracks to cure your curiosity instead of looking to us for answers. :)
On another note, what's an Opeth anyway? Besides trying to say "opus" when you're less than 6 years old, that is...

Early The Gathering would be a good example.....the disc Always has almost
all Cookie Monster vocals on it.

There is no such thing as cookie monster vocals.

When I asked Jan-Michael Souter to name the band(s) that he claims had a singer who
sung like this he didn't answer, so obviously he dosen't have one.

The type of vocals used in extreme metal are most commonly know as
'growling', or in black metal, 'shrieking', or even 'screaming' in some
    bands.

Try doing it yourself, it isn't that easy.
