Any thoughts on DT'S Performance at the PNC bank art center on
thursday? Every other set list I saw included the Instrumedley. How
interesting that it was missing from the setlist. Complaining I am
not, how also very interesting to hear The Glass Prison and Scarred
Back to Back. And to the 3 people in front of me that left 20 minutes
into DT's Set, you missed the encore of a lifetime. Un-Real stuff.
Stan
By the way, Mr. Esposito, I hope that the fish are biting.

Well, FW opened the show with "Disconnected pt. 1" right into "One" followed by "APSOG (part 3?)", "Point of View", "Life in Still Water", "Pieces of Me" and "Monument" (plus the jam tune where Portnoy grabbed the drum kit and D'Virgillio grabbed a mic!), not necessarilly in that order. Fates did seem to be having
fun, and yeah, their sound wasn't that happenin' but Ray sounded pretty good, and the crowd, by the finish, was jubiliant. I don't know what song they 'jammed' in the middle of the set, but it was pretty intense. Unfortunately I couldn't justify spending $30 even on a FW t-shirt...
: Queensrche sounded very good, too. Who's the second guitarist (Mike Stone?) Not bad, and definitely a much-needed improvement from Kelly Grey (but he's no DeGarmo, but hey, let's cut him some slack... cool t-shirt too). Tate is ever the future-Broadway showman, I would bank on it. Pulled out some great old tunes
(nothing from the EP though) like NM516 and Screaming in Digital back-to-back... likewise Rockenfield ESPECIALLY looked like he was having a rip-roarin' good time.
: Dream Theater! Well, you know what to expect, and they sounded as tight as ever. I love James but I do happen to dig Ray and Geoff a touch more both live and in studio settings, in that order. He's always on the money, but his upper range can get somewhat whiny, and therefore the lyrics unintelligable (Hey, it's a
metal show). The band played some interesting song choices and the entire RUSH "Necronmancer" piece (but, oddly enough not much from 6DoIT or anything from SFaM).
: The grand finale was the FULL BAND jam featuring Queensrche and DT and they performed "THe Spirit Carries On" and "Take Hold of the Flame". Those who left, missed a grandiose and jolly-good time. It was pretty magical, and the crowd ate it up. Again, the drummers particularly seemed to be all smiles... too bad
Ray didn't grab a mike!
: All in all, quite a good show, and thankfully, the rain had let up early in the day, leaving us with a rather serene, and cloudless, night on the water and the 'beach, yo.
: I don't attend many show's, but I'm rather glad I decided NOT to miss this probably one-in-a-lifetime opportunity (kinda like Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader and Howard Zinn giving a seminar, or a triple showing of The Fellowship of the Ring, the Matrix, and
Termintor I, or Yin Yang chinese buffet).
: Unforuntately I didn't catch anyone from the board there (kinda difficult to do with little pre-show opportunity) but I did manage to catch up quickly with some old (some very old) friends and a few $5 cokes! (No Pepsi! Yeehaa!). Good chinese good (chicken mei fun) at Yummy Yummy in Long Beach, too, so check it
yo!
: Peace...

I saw them last week and they kicked ass, so this doesn't apply for me, but
I would put SPOILERS in your email subject just in case next time :)

I don't know. I think I like Halfords post JP stuff better, excluding Two.
Fight was great, and his last two solo discs were incredible. I hope he
keeps that stuff up, or that JP's sound moves in that direction.

Call me a wimp or whatever but I had a hard enough time watching my toddlers get vaccinations which are a necessity.... tattoos for the vanity of the parents is absolutely ludicrous... Are the parents' lives so insignificant that the only way they will "leave a mark" on the earth is the one they've branded like cattle upon their children? ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment
