About DT's new album having a more classic metal sound, I'm 100% sure it will still sound very progressive. The main difference I think will be the influences that will pop up once you listen to it. Just like when you'd listen to the last album and say "hey, this has a Toolish or a Radioheadish sound", maybe in the next one you'll say "hey, this has an Iron Maidenish sound or a Megadethish sound" (didn't wan't to say Metallicish).
About Derek's new album, I like it quite a bit, altough it hasn't grasped me like his previous efforts. Nothing beats Planet X, but still Inertia had more of my attention than Black Utopia. It's still very good, though. I really can't explain the reason why it hasn't grasped me.
About Angra, none of their albums are even close to being a disappointment for me. Fireworks was a change of pace compared to Holy Land, but I really like it. It's a great album, but it was sort of a shock after what you'd come to expect following Holy Land. And, by the way, I highly recommend you get Hunters and Prey as well as the live album and DVD. H&P is an EP, but it's a masterpiece of an EP. The song H&P is worth the price of the cd alone. You should also check out Shaman (the other half of Angra), which is great as well.
About the following disappointing cds:
> -Pain of Salvation: Remedy Lane (before you start flaming: I dig The
> Perfect Element)
Well, I really can't agree with that. For me, RL is probably their best album, while I think TPE is probably their weakest (although it's still a very good album).
> -Explorer's Club: Raising the Mammoth
Am I the only person who loves this album? The second song kind of drags a bit (the one before the LaBrie one), but the rest for me is brilliant. Again, I was a little disappointed at first, but that bastard grew on me like a weed :-) This album has one of the best intros I've heard, especially with Marty's soloing. By the way, Marty Friedman's latest album "Music for Speeding" is very good.

I would hope for an album that the influences DONT pop out when listening to
it, for a change instead. (I hate to mention it because its been beaten to
death but ie : awake)

I expected to hear Derek more in the foreground on this CD but it's just not
as up-front to me. Don't get me wrong -- it's a really good CD. Guess
I'm biased because of Yngwie being on it. If he weren't on it, I may not
have bought it.. just personal observation.

Yeah? I like his new CD. Yngwie pulls some cool stuff, and Derek's stuff in
general is pretty weirdly cool to begin with :)

I strangely dreamt last night that I was at a local music store and Virgil
and Derek were there browsing. I apologized profusely for missing his show
on June 9th, and he said not to worry. I woke up before he answered why he
didn't bring Yngwie on tour with him. Damn dreams!! :D

Hey,
From: Mike Shetzer, wrote
Metropolis 3? I didn't think of that. Now my blood is burning waiting
to
hear what they're coming up with :)
Any idea why they would be touring BEFORE the new album comes out?
No Idea, hopefully they will do a full tour after, and come to Ottawa
this time.
Pierre, you live in quebec? I am from Ottawa, Mike.
Listened to QR's, Operation Mindcrime this weekend, man this album is
good. Did any of the guys in DT ever comment on this album??? Let me
know.
I agree, Jan-Michael, we need at least 2 new albums before Metropolis
part 3...cause.... I dont think that the struggle between the children
as ended...
Hey check out the section, Fans, Dt tattoos, check the guy from Ottawa,
I listen to him on CHUO (Ottawa University radio) every tuesday, he
hosts a prog show, pretty good show.
Salut

It seems that PoS fans can never agree with each other on what the best
album is :P For me, it's TPE. The title track is a killer!

It seems like I will have a spare ticket for the FW/QR/DT concert on
Thursday July 10, 2003 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. My
buddy bailed on me. Good seat too. It is in Section 101 Row W Seat 48.
Anyone wanna sit next to a fellow jammer? I refuse to put it on eBay
and only want to charge what I have been charged. It was 104.00 for 2
tickets so 52.00 will be the price. Anyone interested?
