    >magazine. In second place (??) was Yngwie, toppled by Mr.
    >Michael Angelo. I'm surprised there's no Ron Jarzombek,
    >Michael Romeo or ummm.... Billie Joe Armstrong. :P
    >I downloaded a few songs by this Angelo dude... he's
    >pretty nuts! Apparently he is ambidextrous and can play
    >upside down and stuff. Good for him, I still love JP =3D)

Yeah, the dude's got a v-shaped double-neck guitar or something.

    The list:

    10. The Great Kat - Latherin Thomas
    9. John Petrucci
    8. Buckethead
    7. Rusty Cooley
    6. Joe Stump
    5. Shawn Lane
    4. Paul Gilbert
    3. Yngwie
    2. Chris Impellitteri
    1. Michael Angelo

    The blurb about JP:
"The only one of this cache wh's not a shredder by trade, Petrucci's
pinpoint picking distinguishes Dream Theater's epci excursions from those
wussy prog-schlock wannabes. Yeha, you're faster...in your dreams.

Not that magazine rankings are important, but the ranking focuses strictly
on speed, not who's better than whom.

    Greetings ye 'jamanoids...

    Mike Shetzer remarked:

    >My friend just informed me (could be off by a bit) that JP was voted #8
    >on the Top Shredders list of Guitar One magazine.
    >In second place (??) was Yngwie, toppled by Mr. Michael Angelo. I'm

There's no "apparently" about it. The man is one of the most frightening
players I have ever seen. There are a lot of good shredders out there, but
as far as pure speed and accuracy go, none can top the mighty
    MICHAEL.ANGELO. Overhand, underhand, left-handed, right-handed -- it's all
    the same to him.

If you want proof, I've thrown a couple of video clips up on the web. Go
    have a look.

Clip 1: Performing a six-minute track from one of his solo discs (I think
this is from one of his instructional videos). This one has him doing
plenty of overhand and underhand stuff.
    http://www.glasshammer.com/philstuff/MichaelAngelo.asf

Clip 2: A one-minute solo section from the video for "Freight Train".
Featuring the infamous Quad-Neck Guitar. :)
    http://www.glasshammer.com/philstuff/MichaelAngelo_FreightTrain.mpg

Anybody who thinks that the manuevers in the videos are faked is wrong.
I've seen the man play live twice, once from a distance of about ten feet.
He pulls all of that stuff off live.

The mullet hairdo is unfortunate, but don't hold it against him. :)

    cheers,
    Phil

Stratovarius is the headliner, Symphony X are their warm-up and Thunderstone are the warm-up's warm-up, I think. So Thunderstone plays first, then SymX and then Stratovarius.

    I think.

I saw a clip of this Angelo guy from back in the 80's in a band called Nitro. He was playing a four neck guitar shaped like an X. I think my brain exploded... ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan Costello To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Saturday, March 08, 2003 7:43 PM Subject: RE: Guitar One's Fastest Chredders of All Time

From what I've read on the internet, Ark is still looking for a replacement for Jorn. If you want more of his music, theendrecords has 2 Jorn solo cds available, and a friend of mine tells me they're very good.

WHOA... that's all I can say. Third time SX has come here in the last three days: makes me wonder why DT hasn't been here (Montreal, Canada)... I saw them back in '01 (not the touring with Blind Guardian show), and this was my second time seeing them. Before we get to the setlist... SX is great live. Pinnella (keys) could really use a volume adjustment... his lead effects are hard to hear. Romeo interacted with the crowd this time and shook some hands. Good ol' Russell Allen is great live as always, pulls off all high notes flawlessly and is always good humored. Rullo on the drums is like watching a freakin' machine... watching him Lacrymosa was just eye and ear candy! LePond is also a nutty bassist, he can fingertap about as fast as Romeo can!

Now on to the good news (in no particular order): Inferno (Unleash The Fire) Wicked Church Of The Machine Communion & the Oracle Accolade 1 Accolade 2 Evolution: The Grand Design Out of the Ashes Star Wars jamming, bass / guitar question & answer Sea Of Lies Egypt

encore: Of Sins and Shadows Awakenings

Also: Before I went to florida last week I ripped LTE2 to my minidisc player, now it's gone. Anybody see it? GO SEE SYMPHONY X!

The funniest thing about Newstead being in Voivod are the comments he made about Metallica and that he and Voivod could blow them off the stage.
