Read on if you are concerned about the recent state of events, re: the
renewed culture wars. Make no mistake, this can and will efffect our
future as citizens, if allowed to fester like a polluted wound of
blistering righteous conservative repression.
As music (and first ammendent) enthusiasts, considering this may worm
it's way into all area's of our lives at somepoint, kinda like a
federally legislated virus... Your tax dollars at work, funding the
fascist government no one asked for: The Broadcast Decency Enforcement
Act (I wonder, can this apply towards incriminating, fallicious and
deceptive Gov't mandates and state of the unions?) -->
1) Oppose Infringement on the First Amendment (via ACLU)
Instead of letting each of us choose what we want to watch and hear,
Congress is moving quickly to require large fines on indecent
content. This economic censorship would dramatically infringe on the
First Amendment and would hinder the diversity of programming available
to consumers.
We each have a right to watch what we want on television, and change
the channel if we dont like what we see. If a television show is
offensive, we can complain to the broadcaster and choose never to watch
that show again. This market process allows us to find programming
that meets our individual tastes and is free of government
interference.
New legislation would allow the government to levy large fines on
broadcasts and individual performers that the Federal Communications
Commission considers indecent. The vagueness of this term means that
musicians, comedians and other artists would only later learn that they
were being fined for unacceptable performances.
Take Action! Dont let Congress expand censorship of our nations
broadcasts.

Definitely worth your money. The sound and picture quality are great, as
is the performance. No goofy visual effects either. My only complaint
with this DVD, and it's a minor one, is that it contains nothing from any
album prior to 'Blackwater Park.'

Does anyone remember the old website Lines In The Sand that offered DT
boots? I have two setlists from that website, one claims to be from HOB but
there is no date attached and i was wondering if anyone could confirm that
it was indeed the 3/3/00 show in Orlando.
Secondly I have one that is titled Lost in the Sky and the tracklist is as
follows
1-1 Metropolis Pt1
1-2 Afterlife
1-3 UAGM
1-4 Wait For Sleep
1-5 Surrounded
1-6 Ytse Jam
1-7 Instrumental Take The Time
2-1 To Live Forever, Barfbag
2-2 Another Day
2-3 OAMOT
2-4 PMU
2-5 Eve
2-6 Learning To Live
I'd like the date and the venue in which it was played
Thanks

I disagree. My first DT show (Roseland Ballroom, Met2K leg 1) was GA, no
seats. It sucked. I like being up front, but I do'nt care for being squashed
for 3 hours either. The other times I've seen DT, I've gotten great seats
(5th row twice, 23rd another time) and even though you stand for most of the
time, you at least having the option of resting yourself.
>I would have loved to have gotten the Metropolis encore once instead of
ACOS twice, though.
DAMMIT! Met and ACOS are the two songs I've never seen them do live; ACOS is
my all-time favorite of theirs, and of course I can't make it to this tour.
Maybe they'll do a 2nd leg and stop in Rochester. :-(

I haven't heard a bad review yet, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat for a mere $10. (I -have- heard the audio, and it sounded great.)
"Paul, you're a huge Opeth fan, how come you haven't bought it yet" you ask? --Well, I'm hoping my copy is on its way from Sweden. It only cost me.....umm.....the price of 5 Ozric Tentacles CDs, which are now in Mikael Akerfeldt's custody, assuming Peter Lindgren hasn't muscled them away from him. (He's an Ozrics fan, too. :))
Speaking of Ozrics, their new CD "Spirals In Hyperspace" just came out last Tuesday; US release is on Magna Carta (!) I'm 3/4 of the way through and it sounds great so far! They're hoping to tour the US in July.

Funny but for me "In the name of God" is easily the best song on that album... In the eye of the beholder again ! And I'm sure live it kicks ass.
But then again I'm a bassist and everyone knows that we bassists don't have any taste in good music ;)
Seriously: I love the whole song; the feeling, the structure, the riffs... all of it. Some of the highlights for me are : that riff at the start that makes you think it skips a beat without actually skipping one as the notes are inverted .... the lyrics (and yes I remember the posts on those lyrics some of you hated them...) the mad soloing to Myung's tasty groove later on (no it's not over playing ;) ).
Well IMO anyway, A Carbon Based Life Form
PS : Just imagine how hard it is for DT to satisfy all of us all the time lol

Well, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE disc 2 of 6DOIT. I like disc 1 a lot as well, but I prefer the second one. It's just a matter of taste, I guess.
One question about DT's concerts' lengths. How long are they usually? If people are complaining about 2.5 hours being too short, then what's the average length? The other day I saw Stryper live (yes, they still exist) and the concert was about 1.5 hours long, and about a quarter of that time was spent talking crap. I wish they would have played 2.5 hours. By the way, Michael Sweet still maintains that amazing voice.
All right, enough for now. Bye!!!
Alexis

Anyone at the St Louis show? I know someone who was there, and he said that at the end a guy fell off the balcony into the pit and was quite badly hurt whilst trying to catch one of Portnoy's drum heads or something.

Hmm. Personally, I'd much prefer to see Dream Theater in indoor, seated venues. I'm not much interested in jumping up and down, they're not that kind of band to me. When I saw them in Bristol, UK, that was the perfect venue, IMO - general admission on the floor, but with a balcony for boring gits like me to sit down and watch them play music. That kind of arrangement means everyone can enjoy the show in whichever way they prefer.
