Hey, what's up. Good practice last night.
I wanted to ask you about some DT stuff. It seems like you're really
into them and I was wondering what you have. I have WDADU and of course
I&W and I just got Live at the Marquee; and I want more. Sounds like
you have Change of Seasons since I saw you posting the lyrics, I would
like to get a copy, if you don't mind. Also, I got my import CD's
through this mail order place and they were pretty pricey, I was
wondering if you knew of a better source.

    take it easy,
    --- Dan

WHOOPS! Matt, that was meant for you. But, if anyone else out there
knows of a good place to get imports, let me know. (Mail order, or in
    the Pittsburgh and DC areas)

FOLKS, I am sorry for the digests not going out for a few days there.

    I need to explain something:

I do not work at bnf.com

    I work at qualcomm.com

If bnf goes down, I dont get mail from it either. No one has gotten
anything for almost three days, but please don't send me hate mail asking
why you've been removed from the list. No one was removed, the machine
    simply crashed.

Another thing, contrary to some belief, running this list is not a job. I
make no money for it. I have a real job, and it takes up a lot of my
time. Stuff doesnt always happen the instant you want it to. Please be
    patient with myself and bnf.

Bnf's net connection is UUCP, which means it has to dial over a modem and
certain intervals to send and recieve mail. Currently bnf only does this
at night, because it is not on it's own phone line, and that line is used
during the day. So, if you send mail in the morning, even if bnf is up, I
probably wont see it till the next day, because I dont read my mail at night.

Here at Qualcomm I have a direct net connection, so sending mail directly
to me takes a matter of seconds. If you need something done right away,
    send mail to me:

    jhough@qualcomm.com

I read mail here all day long.

Thanks for your time! Enjoy the list!

Who said they could get my copies of forever and change of seasons
and Bombay Vindaloo, Im still interested but Ive lost your address in a mass
mailbox cleaning. Im not sure if you had any majestry, but that would be good
    as well.

To get off the subject of DT (i know you guys dont like it when we
talk about other bands), does anyone like megadeth's latest creation?
Normally I dont go for megadeth at all but some of the music is awesome, as
well as the song writing! Just slap a real singer with the group and you
could have some seriously decent music (not to say Dave mustaine hasnt gotten
ten times better as a singer). Again I apologize for bringing it up here,
but Im not sure where else to discuss it.

    +Michael

I received a response to the letter I sent to the liner address. A new address was included, and I'll post it at the end. This should end the "let's write to the band members" debate. :)

Gail thanks me for writing and adds "we apologize for any delay in responding to your letter, but the number of fans seeking information has been overwhelming. As it will take several years to answer each letter personally, I put this letter together to cover most of the questions I've come across."

Tour information included the last US date (July 22nd, NYC), then Japan three weeks later for some sold-out shows (LatM is nearing gold status there). One of the performances was recorded for future release on home video "which will include some 'behind the scenes' footage." A European tour started in October and will continue through November.

A new studio album will be recorded during 1994, but "To Live Forever", "Eve" and "Change of Seasons" may or may not be on it. "American fans should have no problems finding [LatM] at an import shop."

She suggests GOLDMINE for finding copies of WDADU and says she has received "countless" requests for it. :)

She also says there is no sheet music available for DT as yet, but John will soon have a regular column in GUITAR WORLD.

Limited quantities of merchandise are available; there's an order form on the back of the letter she sends out. (I won't post all the prices and stuff because I'm lazy and I want a big shirt before they all go. :) :)) T-shirts, a baseball cap, and a button. No stickers or bumperstickers, darnit, which should be the FIRST thing they print up....

"Last but not least," a new DT fan club has been formed. Includes DT biography, personal profiles of the members, one year (4 issues) of the quarterly IMAGES AND WORDS newsletter (original title, eh?), autographed band photo, laminated membership card (for charter members only), and access to DT merch and events exclusively for club members. Membership is $16 in the States, US$22 for overseas. Checks payable to YTSE JAMS. "If you are in need of a personal reply, please include [an SASE]. I can't promise a band member will write you back, but I'll be happy to answer any questions the best I can."

The address is Dream Theater Fan Club Dept. A 11 Penn Plaza, Suite 910 New York, NY 10001-2006

    Have fun, kidz! :)

This is your lucky day, Zach! You can get LIVE AT THE MARQUEE from someone on the network. Write to ranjit@netcom.com. He has both versions, German and Japanese. The German version has "Surrounded" on it, the Japanese has "Another Day" and is slightly higher (aside from these different tracks, the rest of the songs are identical). You can get the German for under $20 post-paid, and I KNOW Ranjit has an extra copy because he was holding one for me. Tell him I sent ya; I feel a bit guilty for buying it locally after I hadn't heard from him in 3 days. :)

Their first album, WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE, is a bit scarcer. I found it at a record show. Specialty dealers in your area may have it (try the phone), if not, try GOLDMINE magazine.

LIVE AT THE MARQUEE is excellent, too. "Bombay Vindaloo" was a great surprise, and some of Kevin's synth notes are the same as in a Dead Can Dance song I've been listening to ("Cantara"), which kinda made my hair rise in a pleasant way.... :)
