I'll see what I can find out. They're cutting it / have cut it at
Morrisound Studios, about five minutes from my house. I know (as
probably everyone else does) that Al Skolnick has been chosen to replace
Criss Oliva. A side note -- James Murphy, also formerly from this area,
of Death / Cancer / Obituary / Disincarnate fame, has moved to San
Francisco to fill Skolnick's vacancy. Weird choice. I guess Testament
thinks that they can sell big with that kind of influence. Anyway, when
he moved, he sold all of his equipment -- I picked up two ATA roadcases
for my 4x12 cabs for $350! They've still got "DISINCARNATE" screened on
them -- kinda cute.

I've got a few CDs above 75 min., and never had any problems -- the new
(old) Tribal Tech record is 76:35 or something like that. I believe that
the upper limit is 83 minutes of 16-bit audio sampled at 44.1 KHz.

I've been reading a lot of references to the CD density problem here on
the list and just wanted to add that my CD player seems to have this
problem... Actually, it seems to have not been built up to "Orange
Book" standards or something... Since I've had the player, I've encount-
ered the problem about 10 times or so, mostly with classical CD's. I
thought that the thing was broken or something! Then I noticed that all
of the CDs that it would happen with had a length of around 70 minutes
or so... One of the discs in my Marillion, "Thieving Magpie" set does
that too... :(
Thing is that I know that some of these aren't even as much as 75 minutes.
So, probably there is something wrong with it besides in that it wasn't
built right... I'm glad my lil' brother has gotten a new one (we used to
share this CD player) since; he'd be VERY upset if he couldn't play his
new Dream Theater CD when he gets it!!

Now I'm confused. I've had DoL (as long as we're both referring to Dream Out
Loud) and.. uh.. Eve ain't on it. Not as far as I know anyway. If it was to
be on it, it would be an encore before LtL, right? Well, mine pops right into
LtL, and there's not even enough room on the CD for that whole song, let alone
Eve. I don't know, someone clear this up.
Also, why would you consider DoE to be different?

I'd guarantee that they'll keep "Wait for Sleep" because James loves that song.
It's probably the only song where he can hear himself well throughout the whole
song since the live arrangement is still pretty quiet.

I just picked Savatage's Handful of Rain this weekend so it is out. I got it
at best buy, but had to dig around down below to find it.
I have only listened to it 3 times, but so for I am very impressed. I believe
this CD will keep me satisfied until Oct 4th. :)
Enjoy,

Man, this struck as a huge surprise, but cdeurope sent me their catalog cuz I ordered a tape about a month ago (yes, they do average about 6weeks, but thats the only drawback with them that I can tell so far - some albums are worth the wait for me) and I turned immediately to DT to see if they had LitS or DoE which I've been holding out on for better prices. Anyway, in the DT list is Awake with a bonus live CD - its all $45, and I have no idea about where or when the live is from. So since the album's not out yet (right?), I call them. They know nothing except that if its made available to them, its 99% available to them - understand? O.K., so another drawback is that they have no info on the products that they are selling, and the only way for them to get the info, is for you to order it, then you're obligated. So the moral is, someone on the list has to order this thing and take the chance then inform everyone else of the deal - good or ripoff. So being the ever so curious (and sometimes stupid) that I am, I ordered it - I figure the worst that can happen is I pay 30 extra bucks for LATM or something that I already have, in which case I can still dish off the extra one, for what its worth. So wait with me for 6 or so weeks and I'll let you know what becomes of this escapade. Also, they did have LitS and DoE both for $42.95 each, which is the lowest I've seen, so I went with them too. Ranjit (ranjit@netcom.com) also has these for $47.95 each, so the dude who was offerring them for $55 was obviously out to make a tidy profit, or else was getting ripped himself. Don't pay more than $45 for each of these.

The reason I wrote this was because I was thinking that this was the Japan release w/ the bonus track - which may really be this bonus CD. I dunno.

Well, if I understood you right, CDeurope claims to be already now able to sell the japanese version of awake! If so, then our japanese list-member (we have at least one if i remember right, so desu-ka?) should be able to tell us about. And by the way: is this CDeurope thing to be found in europe? I must admit that I would also be interested in having Awake within the next weeks...or days.... (dont think bonus CD is LatM, cause LatM was released in japan as a special japan release as well as we all know so I dont think they'll do that to the japanese fans...)

There is a Player called XING SOUND (for Win 3.1) available via anon ftp at: ftp.iuma.com /audio_utils/mpeg_players/Windows/mpgaudio.zip Perhaps you need to download MSND_E.DLL too, if it doesn`t work.
