Someone wanted to know about the cd singles, but there's not much to
tell about the American promo's except that they look rather sweet. I picked
up the Lie single when I was in St. Louis last week (where I also ordered DOE)
and they had or could get tons of DT stuff. . . BUt the stuff was MAJOR
expensive. they were selling the cd lie promo single for three bucks, which
contains only the radio edit of LIe and no other tracks. The sleeve is the
same one as the UK version w/ same wrapping. The CIAW single has this cool
looking spider photo on the front, and infrareddish one on the back, and it
comes in a jewel case. The cd has the portrait of the band from the back cover
of AWAKE on it, and it contains the radio edit and full album versions of the
song. So, I'd only get them if I was a collector or a really hard core fan
(which we all are), because they really look cool. BUt try to get the UK
versions if you can.
By the way, this tore also had for sale the promo AWAKE guitar picks (I
already got mine free when I bought the damn thing) for like a dollar each.
So, if any of you want one and haven't got one, e-mail me and i'll send you the
name and phone # of the place.
P.S- Any of you guys out there get your poster yet from C-Man? I got my press
kit like two and a half weeks ago, but haven't seen the poster yet. Just
wondering

I do believe their current keyboardist is named Derek Sherinan, and I hear if
things go well, he'll be a permenant addttion to the band with the best
musicians

Let me clarify; I have no problem with opinions at all, especially with
informed ones! Don't get me wrong here... I just couldn't resist
nit-picking about "Bee"-bop.. ;)
Let me also add that I can't really blame people for thinking I "am
rock-based", as the "rock" stuff I've been involved with has outsold
the more interesting records by something like 100:1... :(

Someone was mentioning the fact that the fans were not responding to the WDADU stuff and asking where people where in '90 when it came out. Lets be honest, now. How may people on this list even heard about the band back then? I'm sure not many. If you expect most of the crowd to recognize the stuff, you are bound to be disappointed. If you are saying that you are not a "real fan" if you didn't listen to them back then, then I am offended. I only heard of the band because many people on TNMS were raving about them. I have been a big fan ever since. I'm sure there are many good bands out there that I haven't heard from yet, but how am I supposed to hear them if they get no airplay?
A lot of people have discussed whether or not Derek or Jens would be good fits in the band. Our opinions don't matter here. It is the band's desision on who is a good fit. Frankly, we can't read the guys minds. I'm sure Derek is a prime canidate. It all comes down to cemistry. I wish Derek well either way. He seems like a nice guy.

Just to add to the confusion and hopefully relieve most of you from it:
I spotted another DT bootleg on CD called Dance of Eternity. Apparently, only the title is the same. It is only 1CD and the front cover is white with a red rose on it. The set list is similar to most of the other 1CD boots out there, no Metropolis or Take The Time.

Hey, Dream Theater is a young band... and by all means, if someone hasn't heard the songs off of WDADU, encourage them to get it!!! MAKE THEM true DT FANS... don't piss on em... that's one thing we don't want, for a great band to loose fans, but to gain fans...
Although it's true that not everyone can be a prog-metal listener, there are those with hope out there! You can convert them to the dark side... or would that be the light side... heheheh
