Well, here in Iowa, Caught In a Web went up for the third time on KRNA's
"Battle of the New Rock 'n' Roll"... and won again! I can't remember who the
"challenger" was, but they were a bad rip-off of Blues Traveler, harmonica
riffs were not just close but exact in many places. How lame. Anway, I asked
for the score at the end, and it was 51 - 0...! DT's really kicking ass here
    lately. :^)

Who was burning the cds for this again again?
Could I get his email address?

I won't be able to send out what I want to say
    before January, though. Sometimes vacation
    sucks :/

    >Are the background vocals on 'Awake' just LaBrie voice-overs?

mainly, although John Purdell (sp) did the backing on
    "The Silent Man"

    Ken Bibb states:

<<I found "Ever" to be extremely disappointing.>>

So did I- at first. Now I really like it, especially the first song and the
    last two songs.

    << Comparing it to "Awake"
is very misleading--"Ever" is progressive rock and "Awake" is progressive
    metal.>>

Very true. However EVER could be compared to I&W except that I&W is light
    years better.

<< Since most of the people here seem to be progressive metal first
and progressive rock second, they will probably not enjoy "Ever".>>

True again. I wonder why more prog-rock fans didn't like I&W. What a shame!
But I can understand why AWAKE wouldn't draw many prog-rockers.

<<You might as well compare Michael Jackson's "Thriller" to "Awake", or
compare "Awake" against one of the albums from he-who-was-once-Prince.>>

    That's stretching it a bit :).

On the other hand, I always wondered how many DT fans are into Yes. I think
that DT fans would really get off on "Close To The Edge" and "Relayer",
especially the heavier songs. "Machine Messiah" from DRAMA is also
    (idea-wise) very similar to DT.-

I don't know if they are playing with QR or not but the listing I have says
that they will play Gent on Feb. 13 at "Vooruit".

BTW, Stephane, the only French date is Mar. 13 in Paris at "Elysee
    Montmartre."

    Hope this helps!

I believe that I&W has sold about a mil worldwide and was certified gold here
    in the states.

Just got my hands on their latest, Time, and I noticed something:

    Track IX: Mirror
           X: The Afterlife

hmmmm.... short of song titles, aren't we?

Hell, Close to the Edge kicks ass in my books. And I think, even though I just got the CD last week, I might like Emerson, Lake, and Palmers, Brain Salad Surgery more than Dream Theaters albums. Gasp, what is this world coming to?

Karn Evil 9 has to be the coolest song ever recorded.
