"Balls & Chunk" refers to the fact that their heavier songs are more
popular than their mellow ones..
Sure, the guitar TAB would be neat, but those who hail the other John
would kill for a bass book... I can't do everything! The tapping
in Metropolis will elude me forever...

For all those of you who want to know what Charlie sounded like in concert
get a hold of the bootleg Consciously Unreal which has 5 songs from
1988 (I think) from a NY concert with Charlie doing the lead vocals.
The 2cd also has 11 songs from Labrie era from Italy in 1992.
The songs Charlie does are Metropolis, Afterlife, A Killing Hand, To
Live Forever (listed as Forever), and YtseJam (well I guess he only
sings on 4). Well in my opinion, Charlie sounds absolutely nothing
like the way he does on WDADU. I know it is him because he says
"And I am Charlie Dominici". Does anybody else with this boot agree?

I'd really love the idea of having a DT T-shirt made bye the people of this
list. My only problem is that I live in Portugal (you know, small country next
to Spain :) ) and I don't know how much it would cost me and even if I could
get it. I just seeing myself walking down the streets with a flaming heart
and telling people to let the light sorround them.
As for the sillouette, I think a man with is arms open like if he was going
to "embrasse" someone would be a nice idea.

No problem with the final design here. As long as the glow in the dark
lettering doesn't look like neon green in normal light, or totally clash
with the rest of the shirt, sounds cool. I like the unique idea of making
the majesty logo out of email addresses to give it a personal and timely
quality, although I'll get one either way. Let's get some other votes

I've seen a few messages commenting on bootleg quality and thought I'd add
my $.02. I currently have "Dance of Eternity" and "Skyway of Nightmares".
"Dance of Eternity" - There seems to be a concensus regarding the quality of
the 2CD pack. Mine was also broken at the time of purchase. Other than
that, the recording is exceptional. If it's not a soundboard recording, then
it's the best audience recording I've ever heard. BTW, the CD nevers states
the source of the recording. If anybody knows the city and date, I'd
appreciate them posting it.
"Skyway of Nightmares" - Sucks. You can hear the crowd better than the band.
In fact, I can hear people conversing throughout the CD. Every song sounds
like a big audience sing-along. Whoever put this recording on a CD is
probably laughing-all-the-way-to-the-bank. Don't buy it unless you just want
to collect DT stuff.
I think it might be worthwhile to add a quality comment to each of the
bootlegs listed in the discography. This way, avid listeners can avoid being
ripped off.

* white (or non black T) - like everyone I have too much black
already.
1 * Majesty M logo on the front left breast (maybe part of
Ytse-Jam as suggested by someone else) - Red or Blue(Navy)
* Flaming Heart on back fairly big (6-8") with the quote
superimposed accross it in black)
(or oppositely:)
2 * Idea proposed for Heart on front maybe with ytse-jam
and Big M on back with either a quote and the ytse-jam email
address or a list of cities or script Dream Theater or something
* I also like the 'you can find all you need in your mind'
or 'let the light surround you' quotes
I think people should keep posting ideas for a few days or so and then wee
can have the person whos doing this make a list of the most popular ones
and we will have a vote where everyone can pick a first and second

My vote for the quote on the back would be: "Balls and chunk is where it's at."
I like this a lot better than the Surrounded quote because it is an inside joke as well as a biting social comment. My opinion may be biased because Surrounded is definitely my least favorite DT song (no flames, please :) ).
Also, I like the flaming heart on the front breast.
On the back, I think the quote should be on top, then have the logo, then have the Dream Theater text on the bottom, with the list address below.
Just my thoughts. BTW, definitely post a gif at a site somewhere so we can all see what we're getting.
P.S. - Any guitarists out there making any progress on Take the Time (from the March Guitar mag)? So far I have the intro, first and second verse and chorus. The Limelight, New York, NY (the city so nice they named it twice-hah! I can't stand NY, I'm a prairie dog) on March 4, 1993. I have the concert program from it, the "Dreambill" playbill that Portnoy mentioned in that interview. It's a long story. :)

To avoid the problem of being to much like the DT most people seem to already have ( I don't), I have a new suggestion for the shirt design.
Front:
Majesty M logo on the left breast with ytsejam list address under it in small letter. Color of logo and writting ??? possibly red, any other suggestions here?
Back:
Full size silouete of a person (possibly band member) with out streched arms reaching for the sky, with a bright background for light. Above the graphic write Dream Theater. Below the graphic, write the quote "Let the light surround you"
Quote: Is then of course, "Let the light surround you"
Color 0f Fabric:
I can only see the graphic on back working if the Shirt is BLACK. Sorry folks, I have too many black shirts too. If any one can see it would on another color let me know.
Comments:
On email addresses on the T-shirt. I believe that it will be way to hard to get almost 300 names on it. If it were tried it would be messy, Although a cool idea.
On the proposed Back graphic above, instead of the figure reaching for the sky, have the figure standing feet shoulder width apart, arms raised about 1/2 way up to horizontal with palms turned forward. This would allow the body of the figure to be larger.
Just another alternative,

Well, the killing hand is a sci-fi story written by John P. It's about a guy who, gets sucked into the past while looking at a Viet Nam war memorial style wall. The antagonist of the war is "the killing hand," and when he realises where he is, he takes it upon himself to change history and stop the killing. He succeeds, but is immediately returned to his own time, but only to find that now *everyone* is dead, and that he has become "the killing hand," as noted by his name now appearing on the wall.
Kinda twilight zoneish. One of my favorite tunes. Damn, now I'm going to have to listen to it *again*....

Balls and chunk is where it's at. Mike says it in the Live in Tokyo video, when explaining the "another Day was the song with the most MTV potential, and it's the song that potentially never made MTV. It just goes to show you that BALLS AND CHUNK IS WHERE IT'S AT.
Sorry, it flubbed it in my last message. I said crunch instead of chunk. Oops, excuse me while I drown myself in the toilet.
