OK, I grabbed some frames out of "Live in Tokyo" and made some gifs.
They're not perfect, but it's the best I can do. I stuck them in the
ftp.uwp.edu archives in the directory /pub/incoming/pictures; the file
names are as follows:

johnp.gif
dt.gif
flamingheart.gif
james.gif
kevin1.gif
mike2.gif
tttvid.gif

So, check it out and let me know what you think! I've got a few more
that I'll put there soon - I didn't want to piss off the archive
people by dumping several megs of gifs on them all at once.

Does anyone know how I'm supposed to let them know that these are all
Dream Theater gifs that should be all be put in the same directory?

It's either Skyway of Nightmares or Runes I do believe. Dimension
Shift/A Fortune Pulled Under were supposed to have it but the dealer I go
through says Rockdreams S.A.R.L and Kiss The Stone, respectively, no
longer print those CDs. If all else fails, there's a bootleg from The
Bayou in Washington DC goin round that has it, at slightly lower quality.

I just got a tape of a live show in New York (thanks Shaun!) and there
are these two bass solos, one in Metropolis and one in Ytse Jam, that I
hadn't really watched before. I mean, I'd heard them before, and I knew
they must be difficult to play, but I had never actually watched Myung's
hands during those parts. Oh my god.

It's probably just a matter of time before some socialist pig decides
that it's not fair for one band to have such a monopoly on talent, but
until then I don't think there'll be any match for DT. And the thing is,
I knew Myung was a bass god *before* I saw this, and I had no clue...wow

Add that to the key god, the drum god, and the guitar god...god...

These are good suggestions, I am also partial to "Let light surround
you" It is a positive saying, and projects warmth. An idea of a
graphic for this saying could be a siloute (sp?) on a bright back
ground. The siloute could be a band member.

Some one should find out the freasiblity of economicly producing
        these shirts.
How many people are truly interested?
How much people are willing to pay?
Anything under $15 they really arn't interested.

Personally I am willing to pay up to a max of $25 for an
EXCELLENT quality DT t-Shirt. I hope the price would be around
            $20.

Well that is my input on this subject,

How about including the "Adesso perso la vista..." etc. quote plus the translation below it. Maybye on a long sleeve shirt with a hood on the back. RTL Metallica shirts like this are really cool.

Actually, yes! I made a tape dub of the LIT video, and I was listening to it in the car with my older brother. When the solo section after TLF came on, he asked something to the effect that was this a beatles live recording. I said no, of course, and he maintained that that guitar part is exectly like a Beatles riff. Can anyone else help?

DT fans,

contrary to Lee's proposal I believe the best design for the t-shirt is a small emblem on front (left breast), and larger graphic on back. I agree it should not be black, I believe ASH is the best color. I've a few very good ash t-shirts. Ash make colors stand out well, and it doesn't dirty as quickly as white (you won't have to wash it as much).

In regaards to voting, the sooner the better, if someone could start compling a list of the different options ie color -> black, red, white, ash... sayings, graphics, basic design layout, # people interested, how much they will pay -> up to $15, up to $20, up to $25, etc. any other categories? Then take a vote.

Hi there. i just wanted to say that I have not had any problems connectiong to the FTP site with the pictures. I read about them being posted and instantly ^Zed out of reading and went to FTP the pictures, and got right in. This was at 9:45PM (Eastern Time) so I am not sure where the problems logging in are... I even got decent transfer rates. Just thought that I would mention it.

Also, as far as what Jason Hartman said about DT being picked for all of those awards, looks like some people are actually discovering what we have known for quite a while. :)

I know that the flaming heart is "the" symbol of Dream Theater, but i think we should thinkof something more original since the heart already appears on the Dream Theater concert T's (one of which I happen to own, and would rather not have another with the same design).

I think the ash idea and the sillouette (sp?? I think there's an "h" in there somewhere), with the "Let light surround you" quote is *awesome* :). I would be willing to pay $20 or so for that puppy! White seems kind of bland, and I am tired of black T's also. Keep coming up with the great ideas....Oh, actually, I have one of my own... I like the concept that I just replied to, and ash would be a cool color, but I would also not mind a dark blue or green shirt that looks somewhat like marble or something. I don't know if that's possible, though. Keep 'dreaming'....

That's what Mike Portnoy told me also, near the beginning of their US tour, but when DT swung back around to southern CA for another show in June of '93, he then told me that Atco had actually begun the legal process of trying to wrangle the master tapes from Mechanic so that they could re-release WD&DU. He still wasn't very optimistic about the possibility of things actually working out and groaned about the legal red tape that was no doubt about to ensue (Mechanic is apparently being *extremely* uncooperative), but at least Atco seems to be serious about re-releasing the album. They would *have* to be considering the kind of monumental legal hassles that often come with obtaining rights to master tapes. Let's just hope it works out.

Hello there. I just wanted to say thanks to whoever uploaded the pictures. My only question is what was the source for the flaming heart... was it the CD cover. The reason that I am asking is that I zoomed in on it, and noticed something at the bottom of the heart, so I lightned it up by 20%, and I see this:

D 101192

Anyone know what this means... is it something about release date, or CD number, or is it something else. Ok, here's the way things are looking so far:

The shirt would be in both white and ash. You get to choose your own. Black has basically been voted down. I agree with a lot of you, i have way to many black concert shirts. Also, they wash out to easily, etc etc.

FRONT:

Flaming heart (red) w/barbed wire (black) on front left breast. Warning: This may not be feasible because of cost/color limitations. I'm looking into it. Might have to up the price slightly if we want it to look really good.

BACK:

Large Magesty logo with quote "Let the light surround you..." underneath. (logo probably in Red or Black, blue doesnt really work). The quote would look cool in glow-in-the-dark with black outline. We did glow color on one of the Marillion shirts, and although we were skeptical, I assure you it comes out very nice. And because of the nature of the quote, I think it would be a really cool effect. Thoughts? Otherwise black quote.

Underneath the quote would be the words "Dream Theater" and in small text under that would be "Ytsejam@bnf.com - The Internet Mailing List".

Also, I was thinking it might be cool to have the Majesty logo be made up of all our internet addresses... thoughts? flames? Could be a cool effect. :D BTW, we currently have 290 people on the list. Not bad!

Note: I could easily post a gif for ftp of what they would look like before we get them made. So don't fret if you aren't sure.

Let me know! I can't cater to everyone's request, so unless just about everyone on the list objects, place your orders. I'll find out about the feasability of the front logo and we need to "vote" on the Majesty Logo idea.

Thanks!
