Hmm. I bought a Pantera bootleg on Metal Crash called "Four Cowboys from
Hell" and it has the song "Primal Concrete Sledge" mislabeled as
"Trivial Track Christ". I figure this was to give the impression that it
was a new song, because right before they play it Phil says "This one's
    called Primal Concrete Sledge"
I figure this is also why Pull Me Under is labeled as Status Seeker on
HsH and LiLI, because they didn't play it that early in the tour and
they wanted people to think they're getting something special.

You might want to try Saga. They're stuff is more major key, and not as
heavy, but they do some cool unison and harmony solos with the guitar
and keyboards. The singer sounds kindof like Freddy Mercury. In fact,
they sound kind of like a cross between Queen, Rush, and Genesis. I have
"A World Apart". It's from 1982, I think, but they're still around and
their last 2 albums, which I haven't been able to find, are supposed to
be heavier, like Metallica or at least Iron Maiden.

    Hello all,

I hav just joined this list(I wish I had found it sooner) and have been
reading about the FAQ in the archives. Well I was wondering if someone
could let me know where the archives are and how I can get to them. As
the subject of CD-boots came up I wanted to know where is the best place
to get DT boots. I have a list of places to get boots but I want to know
which is the one of the better places to get them.
Also I have the import "Live at the Marquee" recorded in London.
I think it is a great live CD. Anybody else have this? And what do you
think of it? Thanks in advance.

I wanted to know if there was anyone here on the net that was at the
"Dance of Eternity" show where they did Change of Seasons. They supposedly
had ushers and intermission etc. Could you tell us about it?
I have a video boot of it and it looks like a really small place. I thought
it would have been in a big theater or something.

But what I really wanted to know was, do any of you have a copy of the
program that they gave out? What is it like? Is there anyway you could
scan a copy and upload it for us to check out?

    Thanks!

I have checked out my connection and have been able
to acquire at least 2 of the recently pressed
    CD called Instru-mental.

This CD is put out by the same people who put out the 86 demo cd
which i've sold on the net here.

Anyway the CD looks really cool and has a nice "what happened with
the band in 1987" on the back of the jewel box.

It has all the 87 demos and "The ones that help to set the son"
plus another i think and it also has a drum solo from portnoy,
    and from petrucci
    a late summer rain
    schizophrenia

and one other (i cant remember the name) guitar solo piece.
(no not the gorilla session..it was on ei didnt ever see!)

Email me if you want one.

    or are interested.

    Subject: Fates

I'm only sending this in response to all the positive Fates comments on the
list lately. If I was unfamiliar with the group, and someone told me to get
Parallels (which they did) and I raced out to buy it (which I did) and was
really let down by it (which I was) I would have wanted to hear from someone
    who wasn't really into them.

THESE ARE NOT FLAMES. DON'T BOTHER RESPONDING TO THEM - ARGUMENTS BORE ME

    1. The singer uses very strange phrasing - often drawing out words in the
middle of each line in a verse, which doesn't help the vocal continuity.

    2. A lot of songs start out like they will really kick butt - really up
tempo. Then, about a minute into it, they hit the brakes and most of the
    songs get dark and moody.

    3. Almost every song's lyrical content is centered around two people who
can't communicate or have a troubled relationship. Not really my cup of tea.

Yeah, the band is great musically - a lot better than most of the fodder out
there - but don't expect another DT. THERE IS ONLY ONE.

    Okay guys, here it is.

Just picked up Instru Mental. It is a studio recording but not perfect
quality. It is definitely very very good though.
    Total Time is 54:10.

    Track Listing is:
1- After Life, 2- The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun, 3- The ytse' Jam, 4- Cry
For Freedom, 5- The Killing Hand, 6- Resurrection of Ernie, 7- Drum Solo, 8-
"Guitar Player" Spotlight (i- Indulge In Reverie, ii- a- Late Summer Rain, b-
    Schizophrenia).

    Obviously no vocals.

The FAQ info comes from here, and other sources... I had called AtCo

Well, I would also say that Lost In The Sky is another great sounding
boot... I would rate those 2 as the best... (Oh, one side note...
that portion of the bootleg discog is from when Mike Bahr had it...)
I was actually thinking (well, I just came up with the idea right now)
that I would include some ratings on the discog... I might need help
with a few that I don't have... Anyone with any besides Dances Of
Eternity, Dream Out Loud, Home Sweet Home, Consciously Unreal, or Lost
In The Sky that cares to contribute their opinions, please let me
    know...

I would stay away from Live In Long Island (both parts) and Skyway of
Nightmares. Those are the only BAD ones that I have heard... The
ones that I listed above (the ones that I have) I would say are all of
the ones that I listed above are pretty good, some excellent

Actually, HSH and LiLI are from the same shows, but HSH sounds much
better. It is also not a complete show. HSH drops Metropolis from
the beginning, and ends with Killing Hand, so it skips Take The Time,
Wait For Sleep, and Learning To Live. LiLI part II completes the show
with WFS and LTL, but adds a (bad, imo) version of ACOS (not from the
same show as the rest of LiLI) as well as the Majesty Demos (I
think... someone who has it knows better off hand...)

I know it also sounded familiar... I have not listened to the Majesty
Demos for a while, but I know that Bill (at CMU) said that it is March
Of The Tyrant... It does sorta go along w/ what James said about "and
    a little further after that..."

I have always wondered about that one... If you notice though, they
didn't label most of the instrumentals that most of us are familiar
with... Mission: Impossible, Pup, Eve, etc... Just remember, as much
as we love all of these CDs, they are in it for the money... I just
wish that bands would decide to make tapes of every show available to
fans... maybe even sell tapes to the fans with tickets to the
shows... Hell, they complain about bootlegging, and they really do
have the best solution... Hell, most bands even tape every show
anyway, why not sell them... They would make more money, we, as fans,
would pay less, and the worry that everyone has... quality... would no
longer be a problem... Ah, well... just my opinion...
