Dave Weckl is a fusion jazz drummer. All I have is his solo album Heads
Up! He is a wonderful technician and VERY respected by drummers. I don't
neccessarily reccommend his work though unless you like fusion.

First, I quite disagree...Dream Theater writes for Dream Theater.

I think writing for an audience could be considered selling out. A
band should write music for themselves, and if they sell 100 or 100 million
albums - hats off to'em. Suppose there are more kiddies out there that like
songs like "Silent Lucidity" than there are true QR fanns...which direction
would you like the band to go?

    Later!

    Greg.

Dave Weckl used to play with Chick Corea, jazz music.
His newer recordings are solo projects, in more of a
            jazz/fusion style. He's incredibly articulate. I can't
remember the name of his first solo disc, but the 2nd
is called "Head's Up", and I'd definitely recommend it.

I love Dave Weckl. His Beneath the Mask with Chick Corea and his own Heads Up
are two of my favorite fusion albums. His first disc was titled The Master
    Plan.

Sorry, was I ranting? You are, of course, correct. Queensryche is amazing.
What I was really implying was that they are comparatively not as good as they
used to be - _Empire_ was one of the bitterest disappointments of my already
somewhat pitiful life. I guess I was describing this fact using colorful
metaphor. Sorry - I did not mean to get your goat.

I just heard Dance of Eternity, and I noticed that on the first disc, first song, it seems like it skips a bit (Metropolis). About 40 seconds into the song, right before the guitar kicks with that F#-G-E power chord thing. Does anyone else notice this? I've heard other live recordings, and haven't heard anything like this. I spoke with the guy I got it from, and he says all the discs are like this. Does anyone know if there were two pressing of this? Everyone on this list seems to love DOE, and I've never heard this particular 'feature' mentioned.
