    Hey guys,
that compilation I was talking about has the live version of this song
on LAM, not a recorded one that I was hoping for.

    Buenos Dias fellow YtseJammers:

Well, I picked up my tickets for the Albuquerque show yesterday.
Four great things (IMO) about this show:

      1) Tickets only $7 at the club ($9 at TicketBastard)
      2) The club has a "No Moshing/Crowd Surfing/Stage Diving" policy
      3) This is a 21+ club (alcohol) ==> No high-school weenies
      4) They have Sam Adams on tap

What better way to see DT than while hanging out, relaxed, sippin' on
    a mug of Sam...

Anyway, that's not what this mail is all about. I was recently
fortunate enough to acquire the _Dance of Eternity_ 2-CD boot. My
question is this: "Pull Me Under" has about a 5 1/2 minute intro (?)
before the tune as I know it starts. Does this passage have some sort
of an official name, or is it just something that was put together as
part of the show? I think it sounds really cool, the music, the
narration, etc. TIA, any help is appreciated.

    See ya,

    Jon

Here's a chance to catch some wonderful, live, progressive rock! For those of you in the Baltimore/DC area, you should know about a great progressive music festival that is happening on Sunday, November 20th at Towson State University in Baltimore, Maryland. The event is called "ProgScape" and is sponsored by a local progressive music store, "Of Sound Mind". Call "Of Sound Mind" for tickets: (410) 529-7082 The event is slated to run from Noon until Midnight and will feature 6 progressive music bands:

Cloud Nine 45mins- 1hr Iluvatar 1-1.5 hrs Echolyn 1.5 hrs

    [dinner break ~1hr)

Mastermind 1.5 hrs Anekdoten 1.5 hrs Discipline 1.5 hrs

Tickets cost $25 for the whole day. Call (410) 529-7082 for tickets.

For those of you who haven't heard these bands, I'll give a little review for the ones that I know. None of these bands are "big names" (though Echolyn did just get signed to Sony), instead they are bands that have not compromised their musical integrity and are making great progressive rock today, despite the difficulties. I've been lucky enough to see a couple of them live and they put on fantastic performances!

Anekdoten -- This band has received rave reviews from the California show that they put on last week (which I was able to see). They are a very powerful band live with an almost metal feel, but with plenty of complex rhythms and melodies thrown in. They build up an atmosphere with their music that really draws in the crowd. If you enjoy "Red" period King Crimson, then you'll definitely want to check them out. They were one of my favorite bands from the Californa show.

Echolyn -- This band combines some of the complex rhythms and sounds of progressive rock with a bit of a modern alternative feel. The combination work very well, especially live. These guys are extremely raw and tight live, with powerful, driving vocals that add a lot of emotion to the music. These guys blew me away when I saw them in California. I'm not sure who they remind me of.

Iluvatar -- This band reminds me of a combination of Marillion and Yes. They are not as heavy sounding as Anekdoten or Echolyn, rather relying on a more atmospheric approach to the music with some good jamming thrown in. The vocalist has a high range that reminds me a bit of Jon Anderson.

Cloud Nine -- I've not heard anything about these guys so I'm not sure what they'll be like.

Mastermind -- I've not seen these guys live, but on their album it is an intense hour of ferocious jamming. I'm very excited to actually watch these guys put that music in action. They remind me a bit of ELP with their keyboard dominant sound (which is actually a guitar run through a MIDI thing).

Discipline -- I've not seen or heard these guys, but from what I understand they put on a fantastic live show in the tradition of old Genesis or Marillion (complete with make-up and everything) though not copying those band's sound. They're supposed to be very tight live and have excellent stage presence.

I feel that the $25 is well worth the money when you consider that you're getting to see six superb bands, each with distinct styles and strengths. If you have other questions, feel free to email me or call Chris Lamka at "Of Sound Mind" at (410) 529-7082. I hope to see you there! :)

    C-Man,

While we're on the subject of support for DT, I was wondering whatever happened to the DT promo kits. I know the contest ended November 4, and I was just wondering who won them, etc.

    Thanks! Stacie

wait... for whom are the passes for????? :)

heh... and can we do this for EVERY show? :) pleeze? that'd be great. I'm going to the Nov 12th show and love to have a pass or two. I tried to call MTV like you told us but they were ALWAYS busy. they need more phone lines. anyway I've done other promotional work for DT like spreading them around my school, on my bulletin board, and in the fidonet national music echo.

Well, unless anyone else wants to work to do a CD... it looks like the tape tree is the plan... Now, we need a way to distribute everything... I think that the best way is for a few of us to start up master tapes. There are at least a few of us with enough CDs to make the masters... Anyone else, beside myself, Brian and Mike that have the CDs, and hte tape decks to do this, please mail me. I think that the CDs needed include DoE, LitS, HSH, LoS/DoL. Those shoudl cover it...

Now next thing... Did I see correctly that MuchMusic has a video for Innocent Faded?!?!?!? Odds of eMpTyV playing it? Also, I know James said that CiaW was the next sngle... (anyone hear/see that yet)... Anyone with any info?

This is true, however, when I talked to Mike P. about it, he said that their label was supposedly picking them up, thanks to some help and push from DT. That's the last I heard.

BTW, something I forgot to mention that could affect this: East/West just got bought out/merged with Elektra Records so now DT is on their label. I heard this rumored at the Pittsburgh show, and confirm by Derek after the show. Hopefully this won't affect what Mike said about the GC.

Well, I guess you all know that the CD idea has gone underground, but I think we still might be able to get a tape tree going for this project, I have versions of all but two of the songs, so I will help if someone can get me copies of TOWHTSTS and LF&GA.

As far as the voting I called for, I thank all of those who voted for their time, you can still send me votes at mbacko1@umbc.edu and we will apply the title to the tape if it flies.

Right now the current voting stats are:

    1. When Dream And LaBrie Unite 7

    2. When Dream And James Unite 8

BTW: How is the new FAQL coming?

Yes, during the 11/8 show James said that CiaW would be released as a single this week!! But I have not seen it yet, I have not realy looked yet iether. I don't know if it has any B-sides or not.

I should have a complete review of the concert up at my WWW site by 8pm tonite 11/11. I will probably post parts of the review here as well.

If any one got a boot of this show 11/8 at the Mirage let me know. A video boot would be awesome. There was much interaction between IME and DT since it was there final show.
