Welcome to those who are returning from a summer break. There have
been a few changes that you need to know about.

bnf.com is no longer the host of this mailing list. subscribes, unsubscribes,
and normal mail is not guaranteed to be forwarded from there to the new
    lists.

If you want to unsubscribe, go into digest mode, subscribe, whatever--PLEASE
send your requests to arastar.com and NOT bnf.com

Also, back issues of the various lists are now archived so you can
retrieve them with email. To get issue 497 of ytsejam, for example,
    you would send:

    get ytsejam ytsejam.497

to "ytsejam-request@arastar.com". There is also an info file available
there which explains how to unsubscribe, change into (or out of) digest
mode, etc. which is retrievable by sending:

    info

    to the same address.

    Thanks!

    Hi all !

I just want to post this before AWAKE comes out. In June, we've been discussing our favorite DT songs. This is the summary of the 20 posted messages I found.

The favorite songs of most of the people that have been posting are Learning to Live and Metropolis - Part I (is there any Part II ?)

    Here are the votes :

Learning To Live 5 votes Metropolis - Part I 5 votes Take The Time 2 votes Surrounded 2 votes Under A Glass Moon 2 votes The Killing Hand 1 \ these two should be considered as Another Hand/Killing Hand 1 / being 2 votes for The Killing Hand Pull Me Under 1 Only A Matter Of Time 1

I already wanted to post this in July, but my mail system failed to post this. Too bad. This is the last try...

What is more interesting than the mere figures are the reasons WHY people like these songs, I mean, from a musical point of view. WHAT do you like about Learning To Live or Metropolis ?

Oh well, too late now, but I think we will discuss things like this when AWAKE comes out.

    Bye for now!

(editors for SiD, NMS or hardrock digests, feel free to edit this rather long message down and have people email me for more info)

Well, I just wanted to post a reminder/announcement about the bulk CDs mailing list that we have set up. The purpose of the list is to make it easier (and cheaper) to buy rare live CDs from your favorite bands. We might finally have a solution to our problems of getting CDs... We should be able to get CDs from just about any supplier (Italian: KTS, Why Not?, etc plus the German and Luxemborgish (sp)) suppliers. The main idea is to get more people to buy CDs, so we can get a better price. So far, we have not ordered yet, but trying to get ideas. As of now, there are several options including ordering from CDC in Germany, Dies Irae in Italy, Red Line (an actual distributer in Italy) or the newest possibility is that I have found someone at my school who knows a supplier w/in the US, so we could get CDs directly from there at a good price. With the last option turn around times could be as short as 2 weeks, (probably better than ranjit@netcom.com, cdeurope.com, or compactdiscs@delphi.com), and probably under $20 for a single disc, hopefully even less than that. With the other options, time frame is longer, prices _might_ be better, and selection would be more limited.

To subscribe to the list, send mail to listserv@netcom.com Your subject can be subscribe bulk-cds, but is not necessary.

The body of the mail should read

    subscribe bulk-cds

Try to remove your sig file. I am not sure exactly how much information will be given, or how often there will be mail. After this mailing, all info will be answered from the list.

Just a quick note, I make NO PROFIT from anything... I am just trying to get the best prices for CDs, as anyone else wants...

CC: Subj: AWAKE!!!!!! Enter your message below. Press CTRL/Z when complete, or CTRL/C to quit: You're not going to believe how stellar AWAKE is. I'm only on my 2nd full listen and it is incredible. This album is the most diverse I've ever heard. Although I think John didn't have to use the wah pedal on every song! When you listen to Space Dye Vest and then you listen to Lie..you can understand the difference between I think what Kevin saw as the future and the rest of the band..BIg Difference.....

As a gesture of solidarity among my fellow brothers and sister s in Dream Theater. (that's us..the fans.8) ) ...I am offering to dub the album for the first FIVE people who reply to this message about it. I'm in school and i would love to make 50 copies for people, but i cannot spare the time really..but i think enough people will have it from this mailing list, so i'm sure people can it if they really want it.

For those of you who contaced me over the summer, I will try to get back to a little more of a consistance mailing schedule. (for those of you reading on the PJ digest, I should be getting ALOT of tapes w/in the next few days, so my list is going to grow QUICKLY from a few other sources that I have found on my campus) My current list includes (but is not limited to) Dream Theater, Rush, Fates Warning, Queensryche, Pearl Jam, Van Halen, Tesla, Whitesnake, Satriani, Black Crowes as well as others. Again, your list gets my list. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Caught In A Web | | Numb from the world | | Hanging on by a thread | | Scared of the life that fights in my head | | Dream Theater Caught In A Web Awake | | release date for Dream Theater's Awake: October 4, 1994 | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Michael Burstin Brandeis University | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ For info about Dream Theater, finger mikeb@cs.brandeis.edu

But (As Takaaki wrote on digest 508), It seems some of my mails couldn't reach them, and some mails you wrote didn't reach me. The Internet link between Niftyserve(I use this net in Japan) has recoverd so if you didn't recieve my mail yet, would you like to write me again? Last night, Z104.5, a local radio station, played Lie on a show called Future Rock, which plays new relases from bands... its a show that you call in and tell if you like it or not. Anyway I recorded Lie and really like it... it got 87% yes votes too... its not as technical as other DT songs AND it is MUCH heavier than any other song from them but still I like it. It has a fairly easily identifyable beat unlike some other DT songs, and now I REALLY can't wait for Awake... I WANT IT BAD! :)

I think it's cool that there are a few Japanese fans here on the list now. It's what makes the 'Net worth taking part in. Where have all of you been? hey, I was just wondering if anyone around here is going to attend the Foundation Forum on Sept 22-24. If so, please remeber that while you enjoy the event that most of us midwesterners would kill to see, just think that somewhere out in the wilds of the University of Dayton, a twenty year old grown man will be in his room mourning and fasting for two days, exhibiting no signs of happiness whatsoever, eating bad rice (other forms of collegiate torture) etc.. But, I do hope you all have a wonderful time, just please don't rub it in too hard!! :) -Gene Szucs, UD

Sorry to post this here, but I didn't save Tim's e-mail adress...Tim (Lodge) If you don't have a million people wanting a copy of the CD...I'd love one...and will send you tape if you want...Thanks!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to the circle of fifths, and the pattern of sharps and flats: If the alphabet continued as notes progressed (Using Major Key Sig's) (i.e A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, etc.) eventually the key of Z Major would have 4 sharps.

I will keep posting the following question so that people can keep thinking about it (if it's annoying to any of you, please let me know!)

Does anyone know what time DT plays the Foundations concert in LA on the 22-24th?

    Thanks in advance!

Hope someone captured their chat session with DT tonight -- I was planning on it, then realized with dismay that I had forgotten my CompuServe password. :) (It was in my login script on my old, dearly departed hard drive. There's something to be said for live logins. :))

Hi, I'm T.Okuda, japanese DT freak.

I wonder that Ytsejam is sent everyday? 2 days ago, I receive at about 4:00 AM. Yesterday, in the evening, Today, now is 9:30 PM, not yet! Why? Is this a day off for Ytsejam?

    Let me know.
