Not in context. I understand the religious reference fine, but...

the whole context of the song seems to be about a person cheating/being cheated
on... the "you tell me 'bout yout two more coming" would make much more sense
as a reference to something like 2 more affairs.

and how would the religious reference fit in with the next line...?
"But once is just enough for me"

Is the person saying he doesn't want Christ to come again? I think that's
throwing too much religion into a song about a bad relationship.

Anyway, the real reason I asked is because the original post had lots of quote
from band members, and I wanted to clarify that it was a ytesjam member's
    interpretation, not Labrie's...

i have been into voivod a long time, actually before dt :)

i dont think any of the drums were sampled, they were just recorded
extremely well, digitally. i love the sound of the drums on this album..

anyway, i dont really think "the outer limits" is a concept album.
only 2 songs are about aliens, jack luminous, and we are not alone.
jack luminous is a kick-ass epic song though, 17 1/2 minutes long.
reminds me alot of a change of seasons or hemispheres. i really
can't recommend voivod enough...they have vastly different sounds, though,
so beware. i love all of their stuff, but they started out pretty thrashy.
here is a rundown of their stuff:

war and pain (1984) psycho-thrash metal, really abrasive
rrroooaaarrr (1986) same kind of stuff
killing technology (1987) first progressive type stuff, still thrash
dimention hatross (1988) very progressive concept album about a guy
entering a particle accelerator, becoming pure energy and
traveling into another dimension. great songs with all kinds of
            dissonant chords and odd time
nothingface (1989) extremely progressive, my roommate says it has industrial
elements, the most odd time stuff this side of watchtower. this
album is what really got them noticed in guitar mags and critics...
i LOVE this album. pink floyd cover "astronimy domine"
angel rat (1991) somewhat progressive, they finally lost their "stage names"
snake, away, piggy, and blacky... the copy of this at our college
radio station is labelled "pop crap" but i wouldnt go that far. i
didnt like this album at first, but it grew on me. it is more of
a commercial feel, they actually had radio airplay for "clouds in
my house". terr brown (rush) is the new producer
best of voivod (1992) 2 songs off each album, plus one unreleased song
called "cockroaches". not a very good representation...
the outer limits (1993) very mature album, 17.5 minute song, really
ethereal sound at times, awesome production, great drum sound and
very creative writing. this and nothingface are tied as my favorites,
with this being the most listened to right now. "summer edition
number 8" on the cover refers to it being their 8th album, and
it came out in the summer. also refers to the "outer limits" tv
show. another pink floyd cover "the nile song"

    Hiya guys 'n gals...more news 'n views...

Just a huge thanks to those that have already got back to me about LA :)
It's making me feel MUCH easier about it already. Give yourselves a
    round of applause :)

While I'm on the thanks subject, HUGE ammounts of hugs go to Babs for
putting so much effort into the 'con. I probably wont be able to make it
due to finals 'n that, but it sounds great and I'm real envious of all
of you. And, of course, equally huge ammounts of hugs go to Mike for
sorting out Subconcious. Don't worry Mike, I'll make good my reservation
as soon as I decide the best (and cheapest) way to get the money to you.

On a DT note, does anyone know if the Silent Man single is out in the UK
yet? I checked with HMV and Virgin but to no avail. They both had the
various editions of Lie as soon as it came out, so I'm a little confused.

Anyway, cheers again to all concerned with the above topics, and if
anyone else wants to mail me, I'm looking for anything and everything
about how I can enjoy life in LA for a year without getting shot.

    Later,

    Matt

P.s. I realise this will probably annoy some of our American 'jamming
friends, but am I really the only person that really doesn't like Tom
    Hanks very much? :)

I realize that the year concerning Awake is wrong. However I have it on a
source VERY close to the band that IAW just went gold in January of this year.

It might have shipped gold earlier - but in units sold, I understand that
this just recently happened in January.

I have a few corrections to make, however I don't feel that I need to send
the FAQ back out to the list. If you want a corrected copy, I should have
it out to the Dream Theater archives (drkhoe's) and out to Mike Burstin by
    Monday.

I even found out that I had Jens name spelled wrong.... Ahhhhhhhhh!

    Later.

Good morning everyone, it's Babs. First of all let me tell everyone the
"tentative" date for the convention. It will be June 3. The only hang
up at this time is waiting for DT's managements permission to confirm
arrangements. I am chomping at the bit like the rest of you. PLEASE BE
    PATIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had a couple questions as to whether they will jam or not. At this
point management wants this to be just a meet and greet type of thing.
Again I believe that cameras are welcome (I will absolutely double check all
of this, I promise!) As for a trade show, I think that it could be possible.
We plan on meeting and hanging out in a banquet hall, so I think that we can
make accommodations for that. Just remember that the band is divided on
their feelings about bootlegs. So we will have to play it cool. I think
that the only ones who really don't care for the boots are James and possibly
John P (I'm not exactly sure about how he feels). I should be speaking
with management sometime next week. Right now I am compiling a database
list of participants for the convention (that way I have facts and figures
to show management) and right now we have from the Eastern seaboard 26 people
planning on attending. One person plans on bringing between 10-12 people,
another person wants to bring between 7-8 and another is going to bring
between 3-4. So far that brings us close to 40. This does not include
crews from the Midwest and California. I do know that Krysten would like to
bring a bunch of people out from the midwest and I am waiting to hear from
a couple contacts in California (you know who you are Tom and Ken) - tee hee.
So we are growing and growing. Let's keep up the momentum!!!! I feel like I
am working a telethon or something. Anyways, I apologize for the extremely
    long post. -BABS

This is great! Now QR can be added to the list of bands that give
fans a special taper section at shows. Could DT be not that far off?
Hopefully for the US summer tour they'll give us a section. DT are just
like QR in that they are HEAVILY bootlegged...might as well give us a
section to tape in so the tapes can be of the highest quality.
I'll be taping the QR Green Bay show on May 5th. The freedom will
allow me to bring in my big shotgun mic w/stand. Perhaps they may even let
me patch into the board!? I'll have to kiss some ass for that. It'll be
so nice not to have to crotch all the stuff to get it in....you tapers know
what a pain that can be. If only DT was opening for QR...I'm not going to
    waste tape on TON.
Any Boston fans out there? They are touring thi
buying tickets for a 5/27 show tomorrow.

    Hello, jammers!

I really don't agree with the "religious symbolism" interpretation of Lie.:)
I have trouble assuming that "two more coming" has anything to do with the
"second coming" of Christ. They're just a little too incongruous. I think
the only biblical allusion on Lie is the "doubting Thomas," and with that it
seems that Moore is just alluding to a character in the Bible as a piece of
literature, rather than some cosmic religious significance. In contrast, I&W
was chock full of religious themes <i.e. Surrounded>.

Personally, I think the "two more coming" refers to how many other guys on the
side the girl has, and the "once is just enough for me" lyric is the speaker's
way of saying that it doesn't matter how many times one cheats; one is all it
takes. But then, what do I know...

Shouldn't it be "You tell me 'bout your ONE more coming" since Christ is

Well, I have this comment about Voivod. Although I very much support
Canadian bands, not all but most, they did however destroy Pink Floyd's
'Interstellar Drive' to the point that when I here it I go into convulsions
(dry heaves and all) :) Sorry to slam them but couldn't resist.

    Can't wait 'til the CD arrives Mike. Here's a whole-hearted "F**k Yeah".

I hope I meet you at the concert so when TON comes on, I can stomp your
pathetic fucking ass into the ground. Keep your opinions to yourself
asshole because nobody really cares what the fuck you think.

Nope. Even some of us over here in the colonies don't like him that much,
    either.

So when do you graduate high school, little boy? :^) Really now, he's
entitled to his opinion as much as anyone else, and threating him won't change
what he thinks. I personally think TON is a poor choice of an opener.

Oh, let me phrase that in a way you can understand: Fuck shit fuck fuck

I agree wholeheartedly with Brian Cox's comments & characterizations
regarding all the Voivod albums. _Nothingface_ and _The Outer Limits_ are
tied for my favorite as well. I recommend _Nothingface_ in particular as
REQUIRED listening for all fans of progressive metal. Don't expect lots
of nice melodies or anything, though... but *do* look forward to LOTS of
crazy time signatures, dissonant chords, bizzaro lyrics, and an
excellent, excellent DDD production job (this album is ULTRA tight and
    clean-sounding). What a great band.

Last I heard, Snake had split the band and they had found a new bass
player/vocalist to fill the shoes of both Snake *and* Blacky. But this
was months ago. So now the're a 3-piece, I guess. Can anyone offer any
    NEW news about the band?.....

      Jeff

No problem, son. But I think what you need is a plexodomy.
You see, they stick a piece of plexiglass in your stomach so
you can see where you're going when you have your head up your
    ass:

The thread concerned the fact that certain DT music should be
against the law to listen to while driving. The reason is
obvious. I replied that Pantera is the *worst music to listen
to* (okay, here I'm spelling it out for those with double-digit
IQs) _because_ it's some of the most ultimate head-bangin' music
out there; thus, it is dangerous to really get into it *while
    driving*. Got it now?

    Apology accepted, motherfucker.
