seen this? It is alright. Not the best but pretty good. It is interactive.
Has a lot of samples from the album and a funny spider that keeps reapearing
throughout the game. Also, I was wondering what the song Space Dye Vest is
about. I loving the haunting melody but the meaning to the lyrics escape me.
I can tell that Kevin Moore wrote it thoug. Excellent quotes and phrases. If
any help can be shed on this song I would appreciate it greatly.<<
Where did you get this from? Id love to check it out.
I dont mean to bring up something that I know has been dicussed before, but I'm
curious. What exactly are "triggered drums". I know they were used for I&W
and I dont really like the way they sound. Concidering that the ACOS EP is
produced by the same guy who did I&W, does the EP have them.
BTW I am Italian, Norwegian (sp?) and Irish.
Also the drummer from Blind Melon is left handed.

I've been to about a gazillion concerts and not worn earplugs, then I started
wearing those 25 cent plugs. And then I started NOT wearing them again. The
cheap ones block out most of the treble and therefore seem to emphasize the
bass. I finally wised up before this years' Milwaukee Metalfest (which kinda
sucked anyway) and bought "hi-fi" earplugs. They have a pretty flat
frequency response and were well worth the 20 bucks. And BTW, for the DT
show, I didn't have my plugs in, just cuz they are worth it!

This is simply a response to the person who mentioned wearing earplugs
at concerts. I saw DT at the State Theatre in Detroit last November (6th, to
be exact). IT ROCKED!!! I couldn't really sing for the next couple days since
I was screaming the whole time, but it was great!!
Anyways, out of all the concerts I have been to, I have used earplugs
only once. That was when I saw Queensryche last spring here in Toledo. (By
the way, Q-ryche gave the best performance I have seen in a long time).
The only reason I used the darned things then in because the acoustics in the
Toledo sports arena suck!! It was MUCH to cramped!! Fortunately, the 'plugs
dampened the reflected sound to a reasonable degree.
Which brings up another point...has anyone who managed to see
Queensryche on their last tour ever witnessed a stronger stage presence than
the one Geoff Tate presented? There have been many bands whose music has been
o.k., but their performances make up for the lack of "talent". However, when
you take a great band like Queensryche and add the level of theatrics that
group uses, you have an unbeatable combination. Musically, I believe that DT
has more talent than Q-ryche, but I believe that Q-ryche adds an extra
dimension to their shows. This is not to say that I did not like DT live...I
mean, I sacrificed my voice at that show (and being a singer, that is no small
thing!!). Their performance was good, but their music was INCREDIBLE!! (as
usual :)
Well thats my .02 worth. Keep jammin folks!!

Well, I wore my Awake shirt to the Van Halen show... wondering if I'd get
any comments like the ones that I got at the Queensryche show...
Well, I had one person stop me to tell me what an awesome band DT was, then
during the opening act, some girl 2 rows behind me asked me to stand up to
look at the back of the shirt, and she wanted to know if the dates on it
were for 94 or upcoming 95 shows... On the way out, I also saw somene
with the same shirt on...
Anyway, its good to see some DT recognition at a Van Halen show...

I'm old enuff to have gotten seriously interested in listening to and purchasing progressive rock when Yes' 'Close to the Edge' & ELP's 'Brain Salad Surgery' were first released. (P.S. I hope that this doesn't startle/scare any of my Email/Y'Jammer friends); AKA a little older than anyone's willing to admit so far. But I'm never too old for DT/progmetal. Perhaps that's why I tend to bring up some of the old progressive music; I grew up with it.
I'm mostly Dutch/German with a little French thrown in. Technically I can also claim Ukrainian and Canadian as well (my great grandparents on both sides migrated to the Ukraine from Germany and Holland, and then to North America about the time of Red Oktober (Circa Lenin), my father's side to the US and my mother's to Canada (eventually settled in British Columbia, for all our Canadien Y'Jammers

Hi everyone
Regarding the Geoff Downes/Trevor Horn/Yes trivia question....
Geoff and Trevor were "The Buggles" and were responsible for the gem(?) "Video Killed The Radio Star".
And to add to the trivia question....
What song on Drama was originally on a Buggles album? What was the name of the song when it was on the Buggles album? Obviously, it went by a different title.
Also, something I've always been curious about. Are there any DT fans from Western Canada? If so, have you seen them live, and where? I'm from Winnipeg, and they have never played here.
Cheers,
Ian

I had a dream last night that I was at a DT conert and right after John Petrucci's guitar solo, the boyz segued into a cover version of Eric Johnson's "CLIFFS OF DOVER". Huh Huh -- I said --- that would be coool.
Another thing, I was wondering how many WEB sites does DT have? I don' really know of any. If anyone would like to post any DT sites that they know of, I could gather them all up and post them as a list. That way, someone (possibly a computer nerd-slash-DT fan could surf the wonderful WEB for Dream theater STUFF! :) Well, gotta go. Oh by the way, I'm Catholic.

Hello, I just got done while I reading the latest 'JAM (while I was listening to the InstruMENTAL II cd I got from TIM LODGE which is truly awesome) Anyways, what's all this hype about the time sig. to "The Mirror" intro? Just listen to it and figure it out! Its easy! What is the power chord, B5, right?(played with the low B string open) And what Brian W. said about the TAB - he's got a point I think. If you just look at the TAB and don't bother with the theory behind the music, how are you going to learn anything? How will you adapt all those cool Petrucci licks into your own playing without understanding how J.P. did it himself? Well, just my 2 cents.

Well, here's a unique one: I don't know mine! =)
Basically, I know nothing about my biological parents, seeing as I am adopted. I could guess (and have), but, I guess there's no real point to this post. hehe...
Any other jammers adopted?
And, for those of you who might be interested, I've been out of college now for a little over two weeks now. Finally got through everything. Anyone who knows of any jobs related to audio/video/tv/radio/production or anything close to that, lemme know. =)
Oh, and so this is relevant, the last class I took was a one week course in MIDI. The reason I mention this is because the Prof, who holds a PhD in Composition (I think), actually sat down and listened to selected parts of I&W.
He actually dug what I played for him - instrumental section of Metropolis & the solo section in TTT...and maybe something else - and expressed interest in hearing more. Unfortunately, the class lasted only 5 days (from 9am - 6pm), and I didn't get to play him anything else...
..but, I'm sure he'll consider picking up the album. After all, when explaining what SMPTE Code was to the class, he quoted Zappa. =)
Anyway, later... -Hairball
