Well.... since everybody is bashing Sue, I might as well do it too.

She still owes me 5 tapes, and here's the story how she did it:

We agreed to trade 5 tapes, I sent my batch of tapes to her (10/06)
and waited for her tapes to arrive. NO TAPES..... I e-mailed her again, asking her when she posted the tapes, she said 'about 2 weeks ago, but
if you don't receive anything within 1 week, e-mail me and I'll send
you another batch of tapes'.I thought this was a pretty nice gesture but ...... you guessed right NO TAPES..... so I e-mailed her again, but
then my mail bounces back..... end of story.

this is the first time in 3 years of trading this happened to me.

    Hello everybody,

Someone asked for information about the extreme mailling list in the last
jam. Here is some info. The list is put together by Jason Kramer. There is
no automated server, so if you want to be added to the list, just e-mail
    jkramer@cybercom.com
and ask him to put your name on the distribution list.

About the DT lineup. I think what the band need right now is some stability.
You can't change your linup for every CD because it takes time to develop
some affinity. And if you add a 2nd guitarist, it's gonna take alot of time
before Petrucci gets comfortable, and DT don't have time to waste now...
they have to do something significative on the $$$ side or the label won't
support them anymore. Just my opinion.

Here is the list of people willing to dub Acoustic dreams:

Oh man. Helmet's cool. OK, I never bought their album but there's a club here in Worcester (you may have heard of the city. Boston may be the hub but Worcester is the cultural center of the universe) called Ralph's. I'd always play Helmet there. It just didn't seem right to listen to them outside that club atmosphere :|.

I really can't remember any religious "discussion" that weren't along the lines of you-have-offended-me-with-that. I would guess that these Christians (should be capitalized if only out respect) to whom you refer are offended by something someone said and feel the need to defend themselves and their religion which is a very personal thing. I can't remember anyone initiating a religious discussion for the sake of it. OTOH, why is it that every time someone defends their religious preference, someone feels the need to say something about it (then someone needs to say something about that... ;)

Last time... I'm collecting names of everyone interested in getting together before the DT show in CT on the 27th. So far about 50 people are showing up, so it should be interesting to say the least. Send me your e-mail address if you're interested too, and I'll send you updates about when and where and everything else you could ever want to know. Good, no?

You probably saw it in the "cut out" bin.

I work in a record store (not SG's), and what the bargain tapes/CD's are are items that the company is simply over stocked on, and want to get rid of.

Similarilly, "Awake" (the cassette) wound up in our bargain bin for $3.99. However, there is a silver lining to this - I managed to sell it to some guy who didn't have a problem dropping $4.23 (price w/ tax) on it. =) And it wasn't because it was on sale either - the CD was still full price.

Well, a few weeks later, and the I&W CD's that were in my employee picks rack are gone. Hmm...correlation? =)

Hell, I got Anthrax's "SOWN" (sound of white noise) for $3.99 @ the Wall! I ain't complaining! =) Don't knock the bargain bins. =)

Regarding a post from larsh@infinity-online.com (Lars Hellsten) which was really long and I couldn't find a good bit to quote (but it appeared in #1175).

Your whole post reminded me of something I read in some guitar mag a while ago. I'm paraphrasing and it is a little corny but...

"Technique is the means that let's the heart fly free"

    Or

If you can play your instrument, you can play what you want. You have the technique to express yourself fully without restrictions. All the emotion in the world won't matter if you can't express it on your instrument of choice. It's what I try to tell my students who insist on playing without any technique or who can't understand why it matters to know a scale or to be able to play a few notes cleanly.

Now that I think about, I believe Jeff Berlin said it. It sounds like him :)

Hi All! I'm just writing these few lines to tell you that I have to sign off the YtseJamfor really stupid reasons. The University I go to is experiencing major finance problems, and they are shutting the whole thing (computers, power, heating, water etc.) off for the winter holidays, and we can't even be sure, if in January, the school will open again or not. Thus I have to sign off the Jam, although I'll try to find another account to stay in touch... Anyway, it was nice reading all the scrap you guys (and girls) wrote, so: Merry Christmas to all of You !!! It was christmastime when I got Images and Words, so it really is the Christmas album for me, I think Another Day and Metropolis are way better than Jingle Bells, so do listen to them !!! Merry Christmas to Dream Theater as well, and a happy, great, prosperous, colourful, active and progressive New Year !!! Bye! Janos

Im confussed. I'm under the impression that all of you are devoted DT fans, correct? Then why do you want to see the group go underneath serious line-up changes? Im hearing talk about adding guitarists and all this other shit. What I don't understand is that no one seems to be getting the main point. When a band changes a member, the SOUND CHANGES.....PERIOD!! My band is worse than YES...we have gone through over 5 maybe 6 personel changes in the past 3 YEARS...every time someone leaves or gets booted...the sound changes....DRAMATICALLY!!!! (Ain't that the Truth Digital Boy!) What Im so relieved at, is this. DT booted Charlie....GOOD, he Sucked...he sang worse than a whale shiting out a cold. They improved the sound by taking on Labrie....most importantly they improved it with a singer that is probably on of the best out there.....(I know everyones a critic, but if any of you "musicians" could sing better, most likely YOU would be DTs singer, not James) Now Derek entering the group changes things again...Im so happy they survived the change...Do critique until you hear Derek in something that he co-wrote...then critique the sound and style..... If JP left....I would have to agree with Digital Boy...it wouldn't even be DT anymore.....

Now...touching on YES..... Steve Howe is very much like Jimmy Page....they both have genious in conceptuality, writing, and production. But they both can't play guitar as well as some others I can mention. Now thats not the most important point.....So dont go crazy yet.... Whats most important is that Trevor Rabin SAVED YES....If 90125 didnt happen...Jon Anderson, and Chris Squire would be waiting tables in London and Steve Howe would still be doing Orchestral (lets rape all of the public for Old Yes stuff redone by me) versions of Roundabout. Whats saved YES and countless other progressive rock bands is this........They had a little bit of commercial success on some of their records....How would you feel if DT releases a record without anything the public likes....guess what, each and every one of you would be pissed that they got dropped....and curse the Music Industry.... The DTs out their HAVE to record the Silent Mans....the YES's HAVE to record the Love Will Find a Ways....the Rush groups have to record the Cold Fires.........As much as you think these groups have SO much integrity that they do it for no other reason...your wrong...they do it because the guys paying their checks say they should.....just like you would at work!!!!!!

I've noticed a ton of posts about this Sue Moran... and people being ripped off. Someone posted her address as being:

6 Kish Place Wallingford, CT 06492

Well that is the address of MR RIPOFF OF ALL TIME JEREMY HAYNES.

He ripped off well over 50 people on the internet about 9 months ago or so.

It looks like he has returned.

I guess he switched names to purposely rip people off.

Is there anything we can do about this person? This is big time mail fraud. How about the group of Jammers going to the CT show pay mr Jeremy or Sue or whatever a little visit? We need to do something about this loser.

So avoid anyone with the above address.

    1. If I see one more Bafu-ass-kissing post I'm gonna get sick. It was mildly cute for the first 1000 posts. Let's move on.

    2. My choice for the James Labrie replacement (if he were ever to get run over by a bus or something) - JOHN SYKES!!!!!!!!! Imagine how DT would sound with him singing - AND playing guitar with Petrucci. INCREDIBLE!!!! I saw him live at Hammerjacks last year and he kicked some serious butt. The first Blue Murder album has some incredibly ballsy, power jams. Check out "Valley of the Kings." All three of the musicians ROCK!!! (Carmen Appice [sp?] on drums, especially). Best power trio since Rush, I mean, The Outfield. =)

    3. Someone wrote that the fast part in Erotomania towards the end that JP plays was quintuplets, which was then corrected to sextuplets by another shreddster. The whole passage is not sixteenth-note triplets, but groups of FIVE - five even notes fit into a single beat. It's easy to tell because if you play it correctly (with three notes on each string), the sequence is always a downstroke accent on the way up, and an upstroke accent on the way back, since there are an odd number of notes. If you follow the Paul Gilbert school of alternate picking, that is. You can count it and play it like this:

    Beat Beat | | Counting ONE-two-three-four-five-ONE-two-three-four-five

Picking DOWN up down up down UP down up down up

I'm one hundred and forty two percent positive that it's correct.

    4. I called up Ibanez and got the LAST John Petrucci "growth chart" poster. The thing measures 49" by 69"!!!! All I need to do is find a way to protect it now. It could be difficult. . .

    5. Feel free to flame me for the aforementioned Bafu comment. It would be a nice new thread instead of the same old ass kissing I normally see in the jam.

    6. How about another new thread - Does anybody watch the show "Renegade"?? Just curious - it's one of my faves. Great hair, Lorenzo.

Well, let's see here....first I want to say congrats to those who figured out my lyrical quiz awhile back....it was indeed T-Ride with "Hit Squad" About three poeple figured it out, and I was quite happy to see that. Now...interms of who do I want to see cover what DT song, I must say that Rush would propbably do a good version of "Voices". Either that or for some reason I can really dig on the idea of Extreme doing either TTT or "The Silent Man" (the latter because Nuno is great acoustically). I don't think anyone should be allowed to TOUCH Space-Dye Vest (Sorry, gotta protect my favorite song) because no one could do it as well as DT.

I leave you with another toughie in the Lyric Challenge:

"Move over....I said Move Over! Hey hey hey, clear the way!"

Not as hard as the T-Ride one, but you have to be a fan to get it.

Peace and all that great stuff.

When I saw them at the Moore Theater, they did just that. I mean they really mixed it up with the stage show. Before the show started, one of the stagehands threw a big inflatable tennis ball into the crowd. So I assumed that the "theme" for the evening was tennis. Then DT comes out sporting goatees and bandanas like Andre Agassi! It was hilarious!

Anyway, the concertgoers all showed up with tennis balls. Some of them had unopened cylinders of three, ready to go. When "Erotomania" started up, LaBrie had nothing to do, so he whipped out this tennis tacket and what do you know, the fans started hurling the tennis balls at the band. I guess DT had advertised that people bring them, and somehow I missed it. Anyway, LaBrie was runing around, smacking them back into the crowd at high speeds. He really does have a killer serve(one of the stagehands was on the side of the stage clocking his shots with a speedgun).

Portnoy couldn't move behind his kit, so he used his cymbals as deflectors. The China-crash worked really well. Myung didn't move, he would just slap the lowest open string on his bass, and the shockwave would make whatever object happened to be flying at him suddenly reverse direction in mid-air. Sherinian caught one in his mouth. Petrucci was doing these cool goalie-stops and wild kicks from his soccer days. Great show. Bigger than life.

Anyway, if I had a choice, I'd like to see more concert-themes like this. You know, stuff for the crowd to get into that the band could also have some fun with.

This is in response to the DT stage setup if they were to get a #1 hit, blah, blah, blah...As far as a stage setup. The only idea I care for is large screens with cameramen making it easier for people in the back to see what's going on. I personally don't care for the spiffy this, that and the other thing at concerts...I go to see and hear these people play their songs and gawk at them in amazement...I don't care for cool lights, smoke, explosives, etc. That's just me though.

Yeah, don't take candy from strangers, don't cross streets without looking both ways, don't play with fire, blah blah blah... You adults think you know EVERYTHING. Well if I want to run around with scissors and hang out with hoodlums AND trade with Susan Moscardini, I damn well will.

More of this? Look, I can't really make a judgment because we haven't exactly eaten her yet. Get back to me after dessert.

    > After weeks, he finally e-mailed her and she had the NERVE to tell > him that he was annoying and to stop harassing her!!!! He e-mailed her > again (always keeping a courteous tone I might add) asking why she was > so evasive and she writes all this stuff that if even tries to show up > at her doorstep, her husband will break his legs. He was like, "What > the hell is this shit!?!?!?!?"

Really? She said that? Then howabout after the DT shows this Christmas, instead of everyone going back home, you guys form a ytsecaravan and all drive out to her house? Just knock on her door with three hundred angry ytsejammers on her front lawn ready to tear her head off.

You could even bring DT to help out. Just have LaBrie stand outside the front door when you ring the doorbell. When the door opens and Angry Susan comes out screaming and flailing her arms, followed of course by her leg-breaking husband, LaBrie could just belt out his highest, loudest note and knock those bastards through the other side of the house!!

Yeah... That'll teach that fried bitch to mess with the Ytsejam...

Plus, you could all hang around afterwards and make dubs of whatever she has in her pile of stolen tradestock.

GEEZ!! YOU PEOPLE!! Look, GHS, the table is full, and there won't be any leftovers! You're out of luck! If you crawl under the table, maybe you can grab a few morsels or scraps of Susan as we devour her! Otherwise, all seats are taken! Now go find your own evil trader to gobble up!
