    A foreboding hello...
In light of recent discussion, or maybe not so recent, here are a few
members I would like to see added to DT for their next album: Prince,
Mickey Dolenz, Lionel Ritchie, Kid, Davy Jones, Play, any two members of
Menudo, Frankie Avalon, Beatmaster V, Danzig, and Peter Noon. Throw in
King Diamond and Jesus (on triangle) to round out the crew and make some
people on this list happy. New thread: if JP's hands were cut off, and he
could choose have anyone's hands in history for his new ones, whose should
they be? I say Leon Trotsky. I look forward to the next ytsejam tent
        revival. Maniacal laughter. Go bye-bye...

                                      Yep, I'll say it's so,

Looks like my boss actually came through -

I got my name on the "guest list" through the radio station
I work at, which means I don't have a need for the tix I bought
    through TicketBastard.

So, basically, they're for sale. =)

I'm only asking for what I paid -
$12.50 + $4.55 in service charges (you believe that shit?!)
so, it's $17.05 for one, or $34.10 for the pair.

The tix are in the mail from TB, and I should have them
fairly soon. If you're interested, let me know, via email. =)

Now, I don't know the whole story about the deal where a certain ytsejammer
was "kicked off" of #ytsejam, but it appears to me that one party in this
dispute is trying to make amends, and the other is being petty. That makes
    me sad.

About circular breathing and singers: this would be impossible to do when
singing unless your vocal folds were actually IN your mouth. As I'm sure
someone already mentioned, circular breathing occurs when a wind player
fills his mouth with air, then uses his cheeks to expel the stored air into
his instrument while inhaling through his nose. I saw a guy playing some
kind of Balanese pipe doing it in my recording class. It was cool. Kenny G
does it, too <and quite well I might add>.

    oh, and uh, DT rules.

    Hi there,

As I mentioned in one of my last postings, I have a new favorite
prog-band and they call themselves EVERON.
I really recommend it to everybody, who likes DT and their more
melodic, not to say softer songs.
Since I found out about Ivanhoe through the net, I thought I do
    the same with EVERON.
    There's a short soundclip (about 1:45min. / 765kB) on my otherwise
    rather dull homepage at http://www.muc.de/~jerry/
Check it out and let me know if you like it.

        Hello,

Add another, Holy Sh*t!! to the comments on Shadow Gallery. I just got
Carved in Stone yesterday, and I'm totally blown away.
If you haven't allready, go to your local CD/record store and order
Shadow Gallery now. All I could think of when listening to it was: Images
and Words. It's similar but different. Know what I mean?

Anyway, oh yeah, I sold the tickets to the Malibu and Birch Hill shows,
so I guess that means they're not for sale anymore :-)
Bought tickets to the Outback Bowl (first in line, yay me, and Ted)
I'm looking forward the the Holiday break. I'll be driving to Long Island
for the DT shows on the 28th and 29th, and from there on to Florida for the
Outback Bowl. Sorry, had to tell someone. Thanks for listening.

That's a great idea. It is difficult sometimes to figure out exactly where

    Hello all,

There's been some talk about religion lately. Those who know me will tell
you that whenever religion comes up in conversation I need to put in my 2
    cents.

I applaud my fellow athiests. They know that when a religion discussion
arises and we speak our minds we get gunned down. That's not right. All
you severely-religious Christians should check out the Athiest Manifesto on
the Web so you can see what we're all about. Sorry, I don't have access to
    the address at the moment.

I know that some of you will be mad that myself and other people bring
topics other than DT on the jam. As much as I love DT's music (there one
of the few bands today that can actually be called musicians) I realize
that there's more to life that DT. What is the problem with discussing
topics other than Some band from New York? I know there's lots of other
college students on this list, and as adults of above average intelligence
we should talk about a variety of topics amongst ourselves besides the
music we listen to. That is all.

All the people who keep writing about Rush and other bands that
are obviously not DT should send each other private e-mail or start there
own little fan club. I personally hate every band that is talked about on
this list (except DT) and it is really annoying to have to filter through
every damn comment on this thing.
And whoever said Satan is God's son is a fucking idiot. You may
believe that but that doesn't make it right. That's the first time I ever
heard that and I have to say I will be laughing for some time over it.
(ha ha). That's another thing on the "DT Mailing list", all this religion
shit. I'm not anti religious but I'm sick of watching people argue over
    God on this thing.
And to all the fucks who got on my case for moshing, all I did
was ask if there was mosh pits at DT concerts. Suddenly I'm some type of
evil murderer who's out dismember innocent people at a concert. Has
anyone ever said "I'm going to kick your ass" while playing an opponent
in some type of sport? It's the same fucking way.
Okay, I'm through bitching, anybody know how long it takes to get
to Birch Hill from D.C. and if there is a get together?

I just made a mix of DT for a friend who really liked the "The
Big Medley" (especially In The Flesh) and the beginning part of ACOS.
Here's the set list (tell me what you guys think):

            Side A
            ------

    -The Big Medley
    -6:00
-Mission: Impossible (from "Lost In The Sky")
    -Innocence Faded
    -O Holy Night (AD)
    -Take The Time
    -Lifting Shadows
    - L.I.E. (AD)

            Side B
            ------

    -Metropolis pt.1
    -Space-Dye Vest
    -Surrounded
    -Bad (AD)
    -Zeppelin Medley
    -The Silent Man
    -Eve

*I thought about putting the live version of Learning To Live on there
(why do I like the live version so much better than the studio version?)
but I didn't want to overload him. Maybe next time. Later.

Could we *please* take the theology discussions to email. That includes
the idiot who complained about Mike C. posting religious stuff to the
'jam. Do you know how ironic that is??? This stuff could end up
taking the 'jam down worse than the BM "thread" did for a while.

BTW, the guy who said that Satan and Christ are _brothers_ is a
Mormon. That is Mormon "theology." At best, it is tangentially related
    to Christian theology.

I just have to know. Is your band actually half naked when you perform? Now
THAT would be an interesting show.

    >John got together with...Flea, Sebastain Bach, & Neil Pert

John should get together with ME, John Myung, James LaBrie and Kevin
Moore.(No offense, Derek, just that Kevin's name popped into my head first.

    >Mike P. got together with....Daimond D, the singer for Queensrych, and the

Did you know that the POTUSA guy plays a one string bass? The guitarist has
    a 3 string.

    >James got together with....Steve Vai, Nick Menza, ME on keyboards, and
    > the bassist for White Zombie ( you know why)

NIck Menza's cool, never heard (Steve) Vai, or you, and why? I mean, she's
    got GREEN HAIR.

    >Mike M. got together with....the 2nd guitarist for AC/DC (b/e he just looks
    > so lonely in those videos), the singer/guitarist for the Dave
    > Matthews Band & the singer/harmonica player for Blues Traveler,
    > the drummer for some really cool Latin band.

Mike M??? Did DT change members again???
    >Well jammers what do you think? If you have any input please tell me.

    Okay...lemme see....
John Petrucci, DMB drummer (the one that looks exactly like Dennis Chambers)
    ummm.....Let's get eclectic...Cliff Burton (R.I.P) and......thazall.

JOHN (Mike) Myung, Mozart on the keys, if they buy me a huge drumset, then
I'll drum for 'em and.........Shoot...Marty Friedman. (Instrumental band, BTW)

Man! This is hard. It's hard to imagine them with anybody but themselves.
    I give up.

think of it, can anybody send me any prog rock band's record company's email
or phone number? Still trying to put together bands for my new progressive
rock show, and I don't have the money to go out and buy all this music. And
since I work for a radio station, and these bands will get airplay, I think
that the record companies won't mind sending me CDs. Thanks for the help.

well, someone mentioned this recently, so i figured i'd jump on this fast.
the 10 best things i heard in 1995. note: some of these albums may not be
from 1995, but i heard them this year, so that's what matters.

    10) acos- good album
    9) milo z- funkin hard
    8) korn- this is what i wish nirvana could be like
    7) symphonic pink floyd- bizarre, but impressive
    6) mike bahr's acoustic dreams- whether i like some of the tunes on it or not
isn't the issue- it offered dt to us in a way previously unimaginable.
    5) prince- the gold experience- he's back, i hope.
    4) cyborgasm 2- the edge of the bed; "audio erotica". definitely the most
interesting and maybe most controversial pick
    3) asa nisi masa- drums, bass, violin experimental stuff. very neat
    2) screaming headless torsos. i haven't said enough about them

and the number one reason i won't become an account this year.....

    1) alanis morissette- jagged little pill. she's 21, she's can't quite say
"dinner" and "mother" right, she sounds weird, and her harmonica playing is
    horrible!! long live alanis....

    thank you. dtmk

I visited the IRC #ytsejam once and found it to just be a place where
people kicked each other off over and over again. Someone was kicked
off the channel at least every 5 seconds during the time I was on.
Nuggetman was in charge and had several bots there. He appears to
have decided that he will be king of the IRC, and he appears to be
getting off on that. Well, good for him. There are solutions.
Ben, Bafu, and the rest of you who want to chat on the IRC (and
I would enjoy that also provided some people showed up and it was a
civilized place), you need to email each other and determine a name
for your channel that is NOT recognizable as a ytsejam channel. Do
not post the name on this list, but instead have interested people
write to you and get the name of the channel personally. Then, you
show up and set the channel up, and you will be in charge. Ban
nuggetman from your channel and you are all set. Actually, banning
him shouldn't be necessary, because there are thousands of channels,
and as long as the name and subject line have nothing to do with DT,
how is he gonna guess which one is you? If he does find us, we can
    make up a new channel.
Ben, you can take charge by mailing out to a few people you
know are interested (Bafu, me, etc) and choose a channel name and
time. You go, set it up, and we can arrive. Anyone else interested
can email Ben and get the name (well, don't give it to Nuggetman).
The other option is for some enterprising soul to learn how to create
a bot and have it keep the channel safe from marauders (ie, it keeps
the channel open permanently and Nuggetman is permanently banned),
and then the name of the channel can be posted to the list. I don't
really know that much about IRC, but I'm sure someone on this list
could help us - if only they would come forward!

It's nice to see that Al has time to 'coordinate' a pre-show get
together, yet he doesn't "have time" to complete a tape trade for me (AND
for Pat Daugherty, AND who knows who else) for almost a year now.

Just an obervation, Al. I WANT MY TAPE. And I'd like it before the Jersey

WOOHOO!! thought industry rules all planes of hell! oops, sorry i

Hey, jammers! I'm going to be on a trip to Paris with my class the week of
Spring break In April, and I was wondering if anyone knows if any cool bands
are going to be playing. The only band I can think of that should be
supporting a new album in the spring is Pantera, but I doubt they will be in
    France that week.

While I agree that the drumming on No Exit is really awesome, and that
Mark Zonder is an amazing drummer (my personal favorite, better than

Zonder didn't join until the next album, Perfect Symmetry.

I was aware of this. I went in a couple days ago, and while I was there a
bot named augie came in. It changed mine, Augie's (Heath Augustover) and
Aurora's (Jan Van Huizen) mode to +b, which means that we are banned from
#ytsejam. I have yet to find out why.

I also recived this from NuGgeTMaN. The first part is an attempt at a

probably be on the Jam before this gets here. Oh well. Seeya.
