Thank you for your patience. Ytsejam is back on--with some
modifications.
As you're probably aware, Ytsejam has been suffering from high volume
recently. Although readers can "skip" posts that they don't like, my
server can't skip those posts--it has to process them. The connect
time charges last month soared to $285 for last month. To make matters
worse, ytsejam has been crowding out the other mailing lists on my
machine so they were only receiving mail every other day.
(Ytsejam accounts for 10-14 hours of connect time, all other lists
including new-releases (5600 subscribers) and elephant-talk (2400)
consume 2-4 hours a day.)
I now have a temporary link up, so that takes care of my monthly
charge for the next month. I am contesting last month's charges
and have not heard back from my provider to see if they'll lower
the charges to something reasonable. I will probably be going
with a new provider after this month, but will wait to see what
happens with my current provider.
So that takes care of the distribution. It does not take care of
the quality problems that we've recently seen.
The volume needs to be controlled. I'd prefer having you, the
subscribers, voluntarily cut your sigs down to 4 lines, refrain
from high-noise posts (like religion, polls, etc), and for you
to cooperate with those who are going to be helping me keep this
a civil place. If matters do not improve, the list will become
moderated.
Early next month the list will be moving to the Queensryche-inspired
Anarchy-X (ax.com). You can telnet to their site and check it out--they
have MUDs and other net.toys available. They will be upgrading to a T1
the first week of January, so response times should improve.
Before the list moves, I'll be sending out instructions on how to
subscribe to their machine.
A new heavily-moderated low-volume "ytsejam" will also appear at that
time as an alternative for those who wish to be kept informed of new
releases, tourdates, and other information, but who are not interested
in the high bandwidth conversations that are currently occurring on the
list.
Once again, thanks for your patience. May your holiday season be
safe and fun.
PS. Some of the following posts may be out of order. If so, I
apologize.

Well, you sent your message to the whole list, so you WERE talking to him, and me, and about 1000 other people (well, probably a lot skipped right over). Sorry, Marc, I always enjoy reading your posts, but I had to point out this little logical flaw - I hope bunches of people start getting this concept through their thick heads! :-)

"Thank you" to everone who replied to my question concerning the "Caught In A Web" bootleg.
Now to the question about the Magna Carta bands: Magna Carta recently released three tribute albums featuring many bands on the Magna Carta label (I don't know if these are all). Anyway, tha albums are: "Supper's Ready" - Tribute to Genesis "Tales From Yesterday" - Tribute to Yes "The Moon Revisited" - Tribute to Pink Floyd If you like to get a survey of the bands, pick one of these albums.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, they're just as valid, but I didn't think that those others laid the "believe this one or spend eternity in hell" bit on you. Based on that alone, Christianity is the one to go with. I mean where's the risk in not believing in reincarnation? You will or you won't. If it's true, you don't have to believe in it. It'll just happen.

Yes. As Warren took my applauds at Chris for supporting the 'flame' against him, I'll take the time to set the record straight. I didn't even notice the message was directed to any one person. You know what I just realized? The entire album Black Aria is only a few seconds longer than than the SONG A Change of Seasons. In case you're not familiar with that Black Aria is, it's a CLASSICAL album written and preformed by Glenn Danzig based on Paradise Lost. It's an exceptional piece of music, but whatt threw me was it's short length. And, in relevance to Dream Theater, is approximate ly one ACOS long.

With all the complaining of people not wanting to read religious post doesn't mean that people here can't still talk about religion. The simple solution is to e-mail eachother, not the jam. Once it is clear that two people are clearly in different oppinions take it outside.
Well Christmas break is comming and that means I will be without the jam for a few weeks. So when I unsubscribe I will be back. This jam is awesome and don't let anyone else tell us differently!

this goes out to the dt tribute band being formed out on li.
i just may be interested in playing keys for something like this. quite possibly......however, being that i'm home only during breaks (i go to suny binghamton), you may not wish to use me. yet, i have some sort of "chops". i can play guitar too, but i am not jp. more of a david gilmour type guitarist. interested? email me, and maybe we can talk, eh?
to: damon re: keyboard videos damon, there issome keyboard stuff out there. although it is not as extensive as. say. the guitar list, i'm almost positive reh makes videos. one i have definitely heard of (and would love to own if i see it) is the video by george duke, ex-zappa keys/vocals. his tape i believe deals with singing and playing, and i thihk some soloing issues. i think that sounds like a good tape from the best keyboardist frank zappa ever had. check it out
other bull shit i'm playing guitar for "joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat" here in school, and there's this one part that's in 7/8. every time i get to that part, i say to myself....."oh my god....this is so prog!!" :-) there's actually stuff in 5, too...so maybe andrew lloyd webber was in his prog phase back then (?!?!)

============================================================================ YtseCon II Update -- DT is coming!!!!!!!!! ============================================================================ The YtseCon II is at the Holiday Inn in Rockville Centre, NY (15 mins from Malibu) at 4:00pm- approx 6:15. Dream Theater will be there from 4:30 to 5:30 (as of now). We will then go to the a fast food place close to Malibu to all eat together and then head to the show! The cost of $15 ($16 at door) covers, the banquet hall rental, T-shirt, sticker, glass of water, meeting the band, getting their autographs, and a DT surprise for those who pay before Saturday the 16th of Dec.
I am requesting that everyone (preferably, or at least as many of you as can) send me the $15 imediately. By about next week or so I am going to have to pay for all the T-shirts and stickers and tommorow I am going to have to pay for holding the banquet room. I can't wait till I get all the money cause the shirts and stickers take about a week to do and the room must be reserved so its not taken by someone else. If you pay by Saturday the 16th of Dec, I will include a free small DT bonus. Also this way I wouldn't have to borrow as much money to pay for it all up front. SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, SEND ME THE MONEY TODAY!!!
---EXTREMELY IMPORTANT READ BEFORE SENDING ANY MONEY---- Make sure you include your name, freinds name if mailing money for him and an e-mail address!!! If a freind of yours w/out e-mail is sending me money, make sure he puts your e-mail as the place for me to respond that I got the money. If you send me money and don't hear any from me about it, let me know! I need to know who's money I am getting!!!
Send check, money order or VERY well concealed cash (see note below) to: Trey Allen 453 Tahitian Terrace Jacksonville, Fl 32216
I think that is about everything. Digital Man is doing YtseMaps for directions to the Con -> food joint -> concert. So they will be out soon. Once again IF YOUR NAME IS ON THE LIST AND YOU ARE NOT GOING, PLEASE LET -ME- KNOW! Like wise, if you are going, and its not on the list, mail me also and...
