That sounds like a pretty good interpretation. It's a guy who had a near death experience and at the end he sees the light at the end of the tunnel and god's hands. (like all of the typical death stories.)

Rob Weychert was talking about Faith No More and said,

    > I'm thinking about getting their earlier ones, but I've heard they're

I am a big fan of FNM, and I like all their albums, including their first
two ("We Care a Lot" and "Introduce Yourself") with Chuck Moseley (sp?) on
vocals. I would have to say that I like the Mike Patton stuff a lot
better than the Chuck stuff. However, I do have to say that once I got
used to Chuck's vocals (which are veeeeery different from Patton's), I
really like "Introduce Yourself", and "We Care a Lot" is ok too, although
not as good, IMO. Incidentally, I don't think "We Care a Lot" is
    available on cd.

    > about Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton's other band? I want to check them out,

Well, I'll answer these last two questions together, since they're
connected. It is true that Jim left FNM (I can't remember why); however,
FNM is still together, they have replaced Jim with Scummy (whose real name
escapes me at the moment), who is the guitarist for, yes you guessed it,
Mr. Bungle. I personally am sorry to see Jim go, but I am eager to see
what Scummy has in store for FNM. I am unsure whether Mr. Bungle is still
together, or put on the shelf, or what. Mr. Bungle has only one album
(self-titled), but I am sure there are boots out there somewhere (which I
would love to get ahold of 8)... Anyways, Mr. Bungle is one of those
bands whose music is hard to describe. The closest I can come is to say
this: on "Angel Dust", Patton's Bungle influences are apparent; listen to
"The Real Thing" and "Angel Dust" back-to-back and maybe you'll see what I
    mean.

I gotta go to class, so I'll catch you all later...

Well, last night was the Queensryche show . . . .

    No support. Just Queensryche :)

Started great, faster stuff from Promised Land and Rage For Order, etc,
then about half of Mindcrime, followed by a couple from Empire.

Then . . . . boredom. The slow dull plodding ones from Promised Land, including
the song Promised Land itself. Not good for a live setting!!

Encore was Silent Lucidity and Someone Else, the latter featuring Chris DeGarmo
on piano, with some extra cymbal splashes and lead guitar (no bass).
These two songs were an awesome end to the night!

Without a couple of the less energetic songs towards the end, the concert would
    have been perfect!

That is some good insight, but I don't think it is right. I'm not
sure what is right. I think the song is about marrige and the doubts that
often run through one's head before marrige. Has this been discussed
before? Anyone else have an idea of what this song is truly about?

About my radio show, "Night of Dreams," in all honesty I don't
think there was a very large audience. I still like to think there was,
but I would be surprised if thirty people heard my show. WE are a small
    school.

the latest i've heard (last monday) is that the new fnm album is coming
out soon (this month or next), and that Scummy is the guitarist on it,
but will not be touring with the band.
Bungle is also supposed to have an album coming out soon.

Rob Weychert asked about Faith No More's status.

FNM is still alive and well and coming out with a new album next
month: "King For A Day....Fool For a Lifetime". Jim Martin was
indeed sacked. Guitars on the new album were played by Trey (?)
also known as Scummy from Mr. Bungle. However, he decided that
the megaworld tour responsibilities weren't for him and he has been
replaced by a guy (forgot the name) who was a guitarist for the
band Duh! (or is it "Duh ?"). He used to be a techie for the band.
Anyways, I got that info from the FNM/Mr. Bungle mailing list
called Caca Volante. If anyone wants, I'll dig up subscription info.
(It's a majordomo list run at Pitt.)

There's only a few bands who have made an immediate impact on me. (A
good one, that is...) DT was one of them, and Faith No More was one
them. (If anyone cares, the others would be Queen - back in the mid 70's,
the 80's version of King Crimson - Belew, Fripp, Levin and Bruford, and
    the Dan Reed Network.)

To whomever posted the Faith No More letter:

I also have both The Real Thing and Angel Dust and find them to be excellent, but have never bothered to buy pre-Real Thing, for the simple reason that I've heard a song, and don't like it that much. Mike Patton is much better as vocalist. Second, Jim Martin has indeed left Faith No More, for what reason I don't know, but they have found a replacement (name slips me) and their new album should be released sometime next month, or shortly thereafter. I believe it's titled something like 'King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime', or just plain 'King For A Day'.

As for Mr. Bungle, I have never heard it myself, but heard that Kirk Hammett (Metallica's lead guitarist) plays on it??!?! So, I have no idea what kind of music it is. Hope this helped.

Lillian Axe- Poetic Justice Dream Theater- Images and Words Richard Marx- Paid Vacation (no, really) Mitch Malloy- Self-titled Poison- Flesh & Blood Warrant- Dog Eat Dog Tonto Tonto- Mirror for the Blame Gin Blossoms- New Miserable Experience Nelson- After the Rain (I just destoyed my credibility, right?) Skid Row- Slave to the Grind

BTW, to the Faith No More fan, even though I can't stand these guys, I can confirm that a) their guitarist quit and b) they're recording a new album.

I have an extra Live in Tokyo video tape that I'd be willing to dish off. I bought it a couple of months ago, and then C-man sent out those promo packages to us with the LiT video included. I think they run about $15-20 in stores, so I'd be willing to get rid of it for around $10.

The only reason I posted this to the whole list and not directly was in case Steve wasn't interested, anyone else could jump on it.

I'm a huge Faith No More fan but Mr. Bungle is absolutely incredible. Mr. Bungle is more crazy and daring than FNM. I think both bands have new albums coming out within the next few months.

With Mr. Bungle, you get everything! (humor, versatile music, noise, interludes, horns, insanity, etc.) Check 'em out if you dare!!!

When I asked JP what that song was about, he said that the meaning was not as important as the imagery. He did say it was about someone who worships the moon!

I was at Tower Records and noticed that i could order Dance of Eternity and THE Dance of Eternity. I was wondering if these were two different boots or what. They were the same price and there were no catalog numbers to compare. Thanks. Later.

    :) Thanks, Doc.

This wouldn't be possible without all of you volunteering your time to make copies and without Kev being such a nice human being also, of course. :)

I especially would like to extend my gratitude to the dubbers here who have offered to give away free DT stickers & other neat-o stuff like that to the people they dub for too. That's above-and-beyond the call of duty, folks, and very generous of you. But I'd like to think that that's what this is all about, the spirit of giving, and it's really nice to see. *applauds all of you* :)

    Brent Phillips <panther@paprika.lcs.mit.edu> asked:

    >>>I'm a bit confused by some of the dub site postings. I was under the impression that, since we (the dub sites) got the tapes essentially "for free" from Jen, that we should not be expecting anything in return.<<<

This is true, none of the dubbers should _expect_ to get anything other than a blank tape/mailer/return postage for their services. But I also left open the trading option since many of the dubbers DO trade tapes a lot as well. But no one should _have_ to trade with anyone to get a copy of the demos, they should just be able to send them a blank tape, etc., if that's all they have to offer, and NO ONE should be refused because they don't have anything to trade in return. I don't want anyone selling these demos for more money than the cost of a blank tape/mailer/return postage and I don't want anyone treating them as a trading "rarity" which demands two or more tapes in return for this one tape.

I want the dubbers to be able to trade the demos also, if they're interested in that kind of thing, because I think this might be a good way for DT fans who don't have any other rarities/bootlegs, but would _like_ to start accumulating them, to do so. I hope this little experiment works, so let me know if your collections grow. ;)

Unfortunately, I can't "police" this project, so to speak, because there are too many people involved, but I would like to think that everyone who volunteered is going to be fair about this and not try to weasal their fellow DT fans or tell them they can't have a copy because they don't have something to trade in return. At least, I hope not. :) If anyone runs into this kind of behavior, please let me know. As I also mentioned in the FAQ, Kev has been nice enough to give these demos to everyone for _free_ although he's put considerable time, effort & $$$ into recording them, so I would hope that everyone here would respect that and follow his generous lead. :)

    >>>Yet there seem to be some posts implying that the dubbers expect to receive extra blank tapes or other boots in return.<<<

I hope that this is not the case. If there are any dubbers asking for more than a blank tape/mailer/return postage for the demos or more than the equivalent of a one tape trade, they are NOT being fair, so I would urge you not to deal with them and to also let the YJ population know what they are doing because this kind of behavior does _not_ coincide with the spirit of this project.

    >>>I just thought that we should try to be consistent so that me and the other dubbers who don't expect anything but return postage don't get swamped with making all the copies. :)<<<

This should not happen, as long as the dub sites are being fair to everyone & making copies for anyone who asks.

    Hope I cleared that up!

There will be two UK dub sites opening up shortly! We will post here when they're ready, don't worry! But I think we're going to need more than just two dub sites there (we don't want to overwork these two nice volunteers now, do we? :), so I would appreciate it if any of you UKers (or any Europeans who can also dub for the UK) who may be able to dub but haven't come forward yet would e-mail me to offer your services. :) Thanks in advance!

I just was reading today's NMS, and I saw a reference to the Girbralter Encyclopedia of Prog Music, as mentioned here... Anyway, the reference in this case was to their home page... So I checked it out (and added a link to my prog metal links from my home page) and checked their D section, and the DT reviews are VERY good and EXTREMLY positive... check it out... You can get to it from my music page, or directly through http://www.cogsci.ed.ac.uk:80/~philkime/gepr.html

    Hey all,

I heard someone say that Joe Satriani has an album out called "Master of the Art". Now wait. I have the "Satch Files" (his video) and they show all the albums, and there is no mention of this one. Please, please, if you have any idea where I can get my hands on this please let me know. I'll settle for a tape copy. Don't leave me hanging......
