Actually, from what I've heard, the VH tour will be a co-headlining
statdium tour with Bon Jovi, and The Cult as openers. Sorry to spoil it

I was just wondering what concerts this year are hot, and what's
not. I'm planning on going to most of them this year (except for the
three-day Grateful Dead concert and I missed the Eagles, too damn
expensive). I just was wondering if Van Halen planned something big,
if Metallica plans on doing anything this year (hopefully record
another album), if DT is coming to Salt Lake, and who they'll be
with. I've got info from the Queensryche concert, I like that........
Does anyone know when Journey's making their big comeback?!? Yup,
that's right. Journey's coming back, and I'm there, dude. They kick
ass. Their old stuff is really cool, it's like fusion-metal and
funky. Much different than their stuff with Steve Perry. Maybe
they'll get Steve to do a cover of Mouth for War, but I doubt it. I
just wonder if they'll get Neil Schon back...
Well, I'm off to the
Megadeth concert in
SLC, see you Thursday!
Chuck
P.S. I'll tell you about it when I get back. (Heh, heh) They're
touring with Corrosion of Conformity. YEAH!!!

I saw the part this weekend when Wayne and Garth went to the Alice Cooper
concert in the movie. I did not see Derek at all. The guy playing the
keyboards was shown but was at a distance and he had long hair.

Hi fellow Jammers!!
I'm offering to sell copies of the LiT video. I have the original,
and I'll make copies for anyone who wants one. The price will be $15.
Here's the deal. Here, we have next week off from school. So, if you're
interested in having a copy, email me at: laferrie@bashful.usmcs.maine.edu
Don't send me money yet!! Over break, I will make copies of LiT, plus
a few extra. When I come back to school, I'll let everyone know, and
then you can send me money, and I in return will mail you the copy.
I'm leaving this Friday, so email me before then.
Thanks!!

Is this some kind of joke? You can't be serious. Do you know that this
is highly illegal? Do you really expect people to buy a copyrighted
video from you for $15? Please tell me you are kidding.

I really don't think Derek looks like Ralph Fiennes, but there are a
few celebrities that I do think he looks like. I think he resembles Riki
Rachtman of HBB, but I guess that's not his fault! If he looks like any
"actor" then I think it's Richard Greico <If you can call him an actor>. But I
really don't think it makes much difference.

i will be taping as many as i can, probably <20. i prefer that people send

the deal, you can send an extra 110' tape or two, and i will send them back
to you with a copy of my houston and/or san antonio dream theater DAT shows.
just figured it is a good way for some of you to get a 1st generation quality
bootleg in the same package, hence no extra postage. i will only do this
for show or the other, (houston or san antonio or both) not for any other
boots to keep things simple.
anyway, email me for details, with "demos dub request" in the subject line.

Yo
Well, I've resisted the temptation long enough. I, too, have a few albums on
which there are no bad songs. These albums are:
Images and Words-Dream Theater<of course>
Music for the Masses-Depeche Mode
Pornografitti-Extreme
Parallels-Fates Warning
Presto-Rush
Power Windows-Rush
A Night at the Opera-Queen
Focus-Cynic
There are MANY more, but I'd never be able to think of them w/o looking at all
my CD's<LP's, cassettes, etc.>. There is also a select group that have not
only allgood songs, but each time I listen to them, I am totally floored.
These albums are the ones that REALLY kick my buttt:
Awake-Dream Theater
Hemispheres-Rush
A Farewell to Kings-Rush<bow down in reverence!>
Roll the Bones-Rush
Extreme-Extreme
Night Music-Joe Jackson
Rage for Order-Queensryche
These are my true favorites; my "desert island discs" if you will. I know them
all backwards and forewards, yet at the same time, each time I listen I find
something new. BTW, I encourage all you Jammers who are into Tori to consider
giving Joe Jackson a serious listen. He doesn't have as much dark, moody stuff
or the intricate chord structure Tori uses, but if quality songwriting and
composing matters to you, then Joe will deliver. Try the Live '80, '86 double
album or Night and Day first. Both pretty good yardsticks to JJ material.
So sorry about the length, but 1 mo' thing: the more I listen to Promised Land,
the more I think it's Queensryche's BEST EVER!

Hi 'Jammers,
I just got caught up on a bunch of "issues" of Y'Jam (it's amazing how much
email can pile up while you're on vacation). So I thought I'd throw out a
comment or two:
1. Dittos on the King's X endorsement. I have all of their stuff but "Out
of the Silent Planet", and I love them. For those of you who want to try
them out, I'd recommend "Dogman" or the self titled "King's X".
2. I am also a big Journey fan (grew up on them) and I also like the a
Christian band called the 77's (somebody mentioned them recently). I know
Journey isn't prog, but I still like them. Neal Schon is a killer
guitarist, Steve Perry has a great voice, and Jonathan Cain is one of the
best of the 80's songwriters. Their drummer, Steve Smith, is a highly
respected rock drummer. You 'Jammers who play drums are probably familiar
with him.
3. As far as singers go, I like James a lot, but Geoff Tate (QR) has the
best rock voice I've ever heard. Period.
Have a great day everyone. By the way, thanks to the YJam for getting me
into FW. Check out my new .sig

Could've been him (this is a question to ask him, no?).
The reason he cut his hair short is because he was in
between gigs when DT found him. Mike was joking about
him "Mr. Arena Rock!" looking funny with long hair.

Innuendo is excellent. (Although, I haven't listened to it for a
few years). It's as if they forgot all the quasi-disco stuff they
put out earlier in the decade (I do like some of this stuff) and
went back to [semi-] straightforward rock and roll.

Um, why would anyone want to buy a second generation from you when it's
available in most record stores for about the same price?

It's a cover of the Deep Purple song (they covered this song at the covers
concert).

Hi Jammers!
Is there anybody out there who has got some Tapes of Petrucci???? Everytime I listen to him playing this galactic guitar stuff, I=20 get mad about it. But I still want more!!!!!!!
I saw the DT-Boys in Offenbach (Germany) and I can=B4t describe what I felt when I heard them playing their songs together. It was the second time I saw them live on stage and it was just incredible that they were even better than the first time. And the light...
Ok, I know I=B4m telling you old stories you=B4ve known before. So just let me know about the Demos, ok?
Bye.
Bernd.

Hi fellow jammers!
As previously reported there wasn't that much cover-gig content in this weeks HBB featuring DT. Therefore, together with the fact that I got a lousy recording - the tape got quite fucked up audio-wise, I'm not going to help you unfortunate ones to get a copy of this, sorry! Although there are lots of others that will so it's not that big of a deal.
Just one thing I gotta tell you: Right before HBB they showed the usual half-hour of Beavis & Butt-Head and this sunday they showed one episode where B&B watch a GWAR-video. Butt-Head goes: "You know, you watch all these videos for hours and hours, and they all suck, and then this comes on and it's like, it's all worth it!" That pretty much sums up just what I felt watching HBB. :-)
Also I'd like to say that I like the discussions here of other prog-music. Yes, I think that and other not-pure-DT topics are relevant here if they're not totally dominating ytsejam, mainly because other forums don't give that much. For example alt.music.progressive has quite an unfriendly atmosphere with lots of smart-asses just trying to prove themselves and also the holy war against DT by some of it's readers. And then we have other mailing-lists that are severely edited (SiD, Queensryche) which makes them totally boring after just a little while. Ytsejam is more of a living thing if you know what I mean.
(BTW in my school we've got some computers that have names of old punk-rock bands like misfits, buzzcocks, sham69 etc. I'm about to propose the systems-administrators to do this to all computers at our dep, name each rooms computers by musical theme. By that we could have one room with all computers named after prog-rock bands hopefully. Would be nice with names like rush, yes, marillion, elp and even dreamtheater. Are there others of you who have already got something like this?
/Mats

Hi, Does anyone have info for the UK dates other than the London one? I want to go to the one in Nottingham, but the various tour-date lists say DT are playing at Rock City, but I've phoned them several times now & the box office at Rock City know nothing about it. Are DT playing a different venue in Nottingham? If so, which one? Cheers, Paul May
