Hey jammers, I was just wondering if dub sites will be set up in Canada? I'd love to get a copy of the KM dubs.
Also, to the guy (or girl) who listed I&W, then WD&DU, then Awake as his/her favorites, in that order, I must say, I really like WDADU, but (please don't flame me for this) I really don't like Dominici's voice. Sorry, but I just don't. He's not even in LaBrie's league (and he's Canadian too!!). The musicianship, as always, is outstanding, but the vocals kinda get on my nerves after a while. Nevertheless, it's still a great album. My order of appreciation is -- 1. Awake 2. I&W 3. WDADU.

Hello out ther in Digital-Land,
i just want to mention that DT have recorded a radioshow yesterday in Ludwigs- burg (Germany), so everybody in that area should listen to the local station... Also they want to record a show in Hamburg or Hannover for the Radio (I can't remember where, sorry).
Headbangers Ball on Sunday (in Europe) will feature a DT-Special with Videos, Interviews and some Live-Footage from London and Munic.
BTW have they realy played Damage INC. and Perfect... in Munic??? F**k, in Ludwigsburg the only played the standard-set. But perhaps the change the set for Offenbach.......
And hopefully FW play Guardian in Offenbach :)

Brave is pretty good, their best album since vocalist Fish left the band. I don't like it as much as their first four albums (which are now out of print in the U.S.) even though it is the most maturely produced. Their earlier stuff sounded more influenced by Genesis while Brave sounds more like Pink Floyd.

They do sound like Yes as someone else mentioned, but harder rocking, dominated by keyboards and lyrics about historical events (kind of cheesy if you ask me, but the music is good). Nice vocal harmonies, a lot of quick transitions and ideas within a song.

There is also the Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock, which contains descriptions and opinions of HUNDREDS of bands that focus on creativity and artistry over hit singles and popularity. This was put together by people on the internet and is a great way to find out where to explore in this obscure but amazing world of music. You can FTP it at ortega.cs.ucdavis.edu in the pub/MSB/GEPR directory, or I could mail it to anyone who asks (its large though, about 1.7 meg)

Well, on mine, the biggest one was during TTT. I am not sure about the one on the 2nd disc, b/c I only heard it once when I played it on my discman... I am not sure if the location is consistant. You can SEE the marks on the CDs themselves, though...

If you need music that is inspiring, has hooks and anger, King's X is for you. However, their newest album, "Dogman" is the only one that's really angry. King's X is a rock band that grooves like nobody's business and throws in progressive tinges for the eager listener. They ride the fine line between progressive and digestable music. You might not be into Doug's bass tone(he uses gnarly distortion and a gated verb I think) but you have to be into his lines. He and the drummer, Jerry Gaskill are more united than the lint is with my pocket. Ty Tabor, the guitarrist, busts out spell-binding FAT riffs that are satisfying to rhythm and non-major chord seekers. If I may categorize this band I would say that they are a beatlesque progressive metal band. The great thing about them is that they all sing(all three). Their words are refreshing as well, as there are no cheesy cliches but only deep thoughtful and metaphorical lyrics. Lastly, I consider them the pioneers of Drop D and such tunings. They use these tools to the fullest and put to shame all the recent down-tuning wannabes. In fact, on their most recent album they did stuff in d, c#, c and b! I can't tell you how fat riffs sound when the e is taken down to b and the a is taken down to f#. If you like the low end that Petrucci gets from his seven string on the new album you should buy Dogman. If your into a sort of ethereal yet in your face album you need Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. Out of the Silent Planet, their first one, definitely has some favs and is a great first album. Faith Hope Love is their most experimental album, as their producer put a slight flange on all the way through I think. However, that album is worth your time and patience. King's X, their fourth and self-titled album is a goody as well. Forgive me for not taking the time to distinguish them well as I'm a student facing exams, but basically you need them all.

Hi all, I recently picked up a copy of Magellan's _Impending Ascension_ cd, and I've listened to it about ten times. What can I say? I guess the prog rock genre just isn't for me. These guys really remind me of Yes, especially the vocals. I found the vocals to be very annoying, and I didn't like the dominance of the keybords over the guitar. There were a few passages scattered about that were a little more to my tastes, but it was too long in between them. Also, the music seemed to be too "happy" for me; I prefer darker, more depressed music.
I will say that the songs were well crafted, though, and if you're into prog rock, I'm sure you'll like this disc. After trying Marillion's _Misplaced Childhood_ and now Magellan, I think it's safe to say that the prog rock genre is not for me.
I've heard a little about Elan here. Would you classify them as prog rock or are they more in a metal vein?

I don't know if anyone came up with this before, but has anyone noticed the resemblance between 6:00 and a paticular jam on the Indianapolis radio show from 1993? It has the same rythm and guitar parts as 6:00.

This message is to ALERT the Southeast United States for Kevin Moore fans who would like to receive a copy of the new demos.
I guess my policy would be to send me a tape and return postage or money for the afore mentioned items.

I am located in North Florida. Check the sig. I am going to school in Tallahassee. I am NOT from here though. I actually live in St. Petersburg (Central Florida). I want to make sure that you know that I'm only here because I felt like this was a wise academic choice on my part and not because I wanted to live in Tallahassee for FOUR long years.

Wow! I finally saw some of DT's LiT video, and I must say, I am impressed! I never saw anything from them live before (nor music videos) and it was totally rad. 'Nuff there...
If yer lookin' into Marty Friedman's stuff, start with Scenes (at least I'd choose that one). It's all nice and mellow orchestrated stuff. If you like his ripping soloing, his first album, Dragon's Kiss, is really good. Deen Castronova is a rad drummer and plays a real BIG part opn that album. Everything else (guitars and all) are Marty's. A lot of the songs are really shred-yer-head types of solos, but there are a couple that relate to his Scenes album. I love all of his solo work, nonetheless, especially on Hanger 18 from Megadeth's Rust In Peace album. (If only JP would come out with a solo album, my life would be fulfilled...)

Really? After hearing all about them I bought Gretchen Goes to Nebraska and Faith Hope Love by King's X. After listening, I got the impression they were a christian rock band with annoying singing, and guitar that sounds the same. Which songs are the most progressive? They all seem to sound the same...
