Sorry to post here, but I lost Jason's address.

Hey, man. Did you ever get the tape of the Denver show? I mailed it
about a month ago, and never heard back from you. We had arranged a
trade of a video with 3 shows on it, but I haven't gotten it yet.
Did it ever get mailed?!? Please e-mail me at
    bertapel@ucsu.colorado.edu

Thanks, and sorry again for the post here!

Well, here's my list since everybody's doing it:

    In no particular order

            Dream Theater
            Fates Warning
            Queensryche
            Cynic
Iron Maiden (except last two albums)
            Atheist
            Voivod
            Damn the Machine
Testament (_Practice What You Preach_ only, and the tape got
eaten by the stereo :( )
            Believer (substact the lyrics)

I tried Crimson Glory as somebody recommended it. And NO, I did not get
_Strange and Beautiful_, but _Transcendence_. The music is ok, not great,
not distinctive enough, and the lyrics needs spanking! Good singer
    though.

            Pink Floyd
            Enigma
            Enya & some Clannad
Kitaro (Japanese new age god who has influence from lots of
ethnic and electronic music. Like in one song it starts with Native
American flute, switches to Japanese type, and then to a less sharp, more
    like Chinese sound)
Miscellaneous New Age artists, like Jim Matheos from FW, certain
    collections put out by Narada.
And I heard Yanni once and he didn't impress me.
I've also heard Tangerine Dreams and I thought that they were
    really cool.

            Miscellaneous ethnic music:
            Native American compositions
_Mayan Dreams_ chants from a Maya shaman.
            Andean music

Don't remember what else....I guess that' it for now.

Oops sorry, something went haywire at the end of my "Covers Wish List".
      Last few should be :
          9. Rush - YYZ (W/ Mike doing Exit stage left solo in middle)
         10. Kansas - Carry on wayward Son/Magnum Opus (Not side 2 as I had B4)
       I guess 10's not enough...
         11. Pink Floyd - Mother
         12. Queensryche - Damaged
         13. Yes - Roundabout
         14. Dream Theater - Learning to Live (Okay, this wouldn't be a cover,
but since they aren't playing it this tour, why not play it for
this, beside I want to see them play this even more than 1 - 13)

Kind of a long set, but these type of gigs tend to last a little longer.
Could probably make up 3 or 4 more sets, I'd love to see them doing a lot
of classic covers... Wish I could be there (hmm, another cover - ... Come
in here, dear boy, have a cigar........)

Anyone else have a set to list???
    take care

Pretty Maids!?!?! Wow, someone else who not only knows of them, but likes
them too! I assume you have the album with the first song that starts
with a thunder storm into a ripping guitar(Future World). Same one I have.
I saw another album of theirs a long time ago on that black round stuff
(uh, vinyl, yeah that's it). Didn't grab it though. I'm looking for
stuff by these guys too. If I do turn anything up, I wouldn't mind
running a dub for you. Out-of-print stuff is a real pain to hunt down.
Maybe we can work out a trade or something. I have lots of odds and
ends in my CD/tape/black round thing collection.

If you mean that Leviathan who released a selftitled EP and a CD called 'Deepest

In another Issue of Ytsejam someone asked about the 'Peace...'-saying in the

Hello Ytsejammers, I have been reading everybodies influences in the past few issues. This is a topic that finds its way somewhere into every issue. Only recently did I start noticing people mentioning the band Savatage. They are a great band whose music comes from the heart and is very spiritual like Dream Theater. Tori Amos is also amazing and it it great to see people mention her name. Extreme was mentioned last time also. This is another great band her take deep thought writing their songs in a spirutaual manner. After all, technachality isn't everything, however it is extremely important. This is what makes Dream Theater amazing. They bring technachality together with sprituality and meaning behind their music. -Scott Snyderman at PSU (sas220@psu.edu)

Hey everyone, I can answer some of the questions about Pretty Maids. Frankly, I'm surprised they stirred such a fuss on this list, cuz they're straight ahead metal. But if you're pissed off and feel like punching a hole through a wall, you should probably have them on as proper background music. PM put out 2 albums in the U.S. The first one has a song called Future World on it which they had a video for. I remember seeing it several times when Headbanger's Ball first started. I'm 99% sure the album is also called Future World. This album is good. Their 2nd album is called Lethal Heroes. This album also kicks ass. I play the title track on my radio show all the time, cuz it's my favorite song by them. Both albums are out of print to my knowledge. I don't know anything about what happened to the band after this album, or if they have any other albums out that weren't released in the U.S. i doubt it. FW and LH were released on Columbia or a subsidiary. If anyone is interested in getting dubbed copies of either of these albums, e-mail me, as I have both.

    Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday season. :)

I've got some great news to help ring in the new year. Kevin Moore called me Monday night and he's completed three more new songs. :) There are no definite plans to go into the studio and no label deal as of yet, but he's still working hard on new ideas and he's happy with the direction he's moving in musically. The new stuff is heavily keyboard-oriented and he said of all the demos he's recorded, these newest songs are the closest to the musical style he really wants to delve more deeply into.

Many of you know that Kevin's been nice enough to send me copies of his demos in the past (and these new ones are no exception to that rule) and now he'd like to extended that courtesy to all of *you* as well. :) He has given me permission to copy his demos for anyone who wants to hear them, so I am in the process of setting up a tape tree project to accomodate requests. I would try to do it all myself, but I don't think my tape decks will survive it if I make 600 or so copies. ;) Basically, I'm here to ask for volunteers to participate in the dubbing process. If you're interested in helping out with the duplication of tapes for your fellow YJammers, please send an e-mail to my account (air dance@aol.com) and I'll work out an arrangement to send you a copy of the songs so that you can copy them for the other YJammers in your area. (This offer extends to *all* DT fans, including our other North American and overseas friends as well, so don't be shy in asking for a copy! We'll need dubbers in Canada, Europe and Asia to come forward also, I'm sure. :)

The rough idea for this project is to split the US up into sections (ie. east/central/west), and do the same with other countries as well if necessary, and have as many dubbers as we can get make as many copies as they are able to comfortably for the other interested parties who either can't dub extra tapes or have no interest in being a dub site. This way we should be able to keep the quality up and the workload to a minimum for each dubber. And of course, the dub sites get to keep their first generation copies of the songs, an added incentive. :> I myself will be participating as one of the West coast dub sites for all of you in this half of the country. :)

I ask only one thing of you all: neither Kevin nor I want this to turn into a moneymaking scheme for someone who's not interested in doing this purely for the love of the music, so I would only ask that you accept an *equal* trade for the demos from a correspondant (in other words, don't treat these demos as an enormous "rarity" in your collection) or that you agree to duplicate them for the party in question for only the price of a blank tape/postage/mailer if they have nothing to trade in return. We want these demos to be available to *everyone* equally, so we would simply ask that you exhibit courtesy and generosity towards your fellow DT fans. :)

More details will be posted on YJ as this project solidifies. Thanks in advance to any of you helpful YJammers who are willing to participate as dub sites and please e-mail me if you have any questions. And BIG BIG BIG thanks to Kevin, without whom this would not be possible. :)

Kevin wasn't able to go home to NY for the holidays like he'd planned, unfortunately, but you'll be happy to know that he did manage to log some time snowboarding in NM. :) He says "hi" to you all and once again, thanks you for all of your support and encouragement. :)

    YJers,

During my recent stay in the Bay Area (East Bay CA ), I discovered a radio station KVHS and it is 90.5 on the FM dial. They too play DT. One evening I heard the standard "Pull Me Under" they metioned that DT was being heavily requested. The next day they had a DT 4 play. They played Mirror, Lie, Erotomaina, and Another Day. The DJ had trouble saying Erotomainia which was sort of humorous. As far as I can tell KVHS is a small radio station Based out of Concord. Their air time is from 8am to 10pm. If you are in the area give them a try. Only one thing bothered me was one of the DJs was annoying Dorky Darren or something like that. He was trying to pull off some sort of heavy metal/evil bit, I did not like it. BUt the music was the best around.

This is very important to me so someone please respond. Thank you.

    My .02;

Some DT band members like Tori, doesn't mean DT fans would like Tori too. I'm not a musician, but I just don't like Tori. One of the reasons is because she's a female, which I think, female's voice is not enjoyable (sorry for my bad English), and may be kind of tearful (or mellow, probably?).

I listen to new age music, especially the ones that use electric guitar. Songs like Bombay Vindallo, Erotomania, or Eve are my favorites, which, I think, have new age tastes. Besides DT, IMO, check out songs from Mike Oldfield (Tubular Bells, the Music), David Arkenstone (Another star In The Sky), David Lanz and Paul Speer (from Video: Desert Vision), and a bunch of Tangerine Dreams', Kitaro (Dream, a little mellow, though), Jon and Vengelis (A lot to mention, a little cheezy). Not to forget Sting (Dream of Blue Turtles), and I just found out Damn The Machine, which I think is complicated enough, and of course I like Fates Warning and Rush (they've been trying too hard for writing the lyrics, so when they get to arrange the music they've been losing their energy).

I got something yesterday that should be of some interest to Dream Theater fans. I was standing around in a music store yesterday and some guy didn't want this one promo 1995 calendar from D'Addario strings. Now, I'm an Ernie Ball man myself, but I took it, because March is the month where our favorite band is mentioned!! John Myung and John Petrucci are both asked a few questions, and here's the "interview" from the calendar.

    PETRUCCI--

Which Muppet best represents you? Guy Smiley

If 2x+5=29, what value is represented by x? Uhhh...x=12...uhhhh, uh...or something

What was the most bizarre or surprising thing that ever happened to you on stage? I fell off it!

If you could have attended any recording session in history, which one would you have attended? Led Zeppelin IV on second thought Dark Side of the Moon

If you were stranded on a desert island, which 5 albums would you want with you? Rush - Hemispheres Yes - Fragile Marillion - Misplaced Children Pink Floyd - The Wall Metallica - Master of Puppets

    MYUNG--

What are the names of your pets and/or your guitar (if any)? I have a frog named Sticky

What was the most surprising or bizarre thing that ever happened to you on stage? I had pyro blow up my back line on the opening note

What person living or dead would you most like to spend an hour with? Beethoven

If you could have attended any recording session in history, which one would you have attended? King Crimson "Beat" sessions

If you were stranded on a desert island, which 5 albums would you want with you? Miles Davis - Decoy U2 - The Joshua Tree The Cure - Disintegration Pet Mehany - Still Life Talking Jaco Pastorius

There ya go guys & gals...not necessarily the most informative questions...well, maybe they are. But it's still a cool calendar.
