Okay more news on this... a timeframe, if you will:

    NOW through 2/15/94 (roughly)

I will be accepting reservations through email for copies. Limit
5 copies to a person FOR NOW... I can work out bulk deals but let me get
through the initial production run first. If reservations exceed 100
discs, I'll just burn however many discs it takes and end the run there.
SEND NO MONEY YET! As you know the net is a place of big.ripoffs, and I
know my track record with the Rush Video Montage was fairly decent (I DID
get everyone a tape right? I know some were slower than others), but I
want to minimize the time between your paying and your getting your CD.

    NOW through 2/28/94

Expect regular updates on the status of the project.

    2/10/94

By this time I should have an exact setlist with running times.

    2/15/94

I will post the information for making your order, and will start
accepting orders for the CDs. Shipping will happen as close to
immediately as possible. I will post a notice confirming who has copies
    in reserve.

    2/15/94-3/31/94

I will be printing and mailing out the discs. I don't expect to
have any leftover orders to do after 3/31/94. At that point, we'll see
which disc will be next! :)

Thanks to ALL of you for being a part of this!!

Well, see my previous message about the time of ordering (I'm not
going to take money yet, not until I have a master disc spinning at least
*some* copies) but I would suspect the price for Japan and UK will still
be $27.50US. I get bulk rate from the post office (ever since the Rush
Video Montage they have graciously allowed this) so I needn't charge
anything more for postage than with the USA people.

Interantional Money Order is the way to go, for certain.

Perhaps we could make a mailing list for the German subscribers. Hmm...

I bought Leftoverture for Christmas.... I have to say I am impressed... however, what is up with the production on this CD??? The piano sound is SOOO weak! No bass at all... miffs me everytime I hear the CD! But the songs themselves are great! They just need a little remixing done and they'd be fine.

And I have to add that the song I've cried MOST over is Space Dye Vest - probably because I heard it so soon after learning of Kevin's departure from the band. The combination was heart-wrenching!

i have completed the dt tour master list for now, with all known dates, venues, and opening bands. for a copy, email me or check at my homepage in a day or so, whenever i get around to working on the (massively under construction, to quote mike burstin :) ) home page.

or, look for it at drkhoe's ftp/gopher/web site at netcom. i will be mailing him a new copy to upload...

if you have anything at all to add, please email updates to me. i also will start indicating which shows are known to be available to traders in the form of audio/video live tapes. first, i will label all the ones i personally know of, then i can start getting others from you guys.

this may seem pretty pointless and time consuming now, but in 10 years when someone gets a live tape that doesn't have a venue, or a date, or the date is wrong, i would like to have a database of dates (like the rush one) for us to turn to. (assuming any of us still care about boots in 10 years :)

hi. i just wanted to let everyone know that a dealer friend of mine has this available for mail order. does anyone have it yet? good sound? mine is on the way (for free! :) )

anyway, tell him brian from texas sent you, and he will probably give it to you for $50 or less including shipping, no tax. pretty reasonable. you might even be able to talk him down from that. i get stuff from him usually for $22 for singles, and $44 for double, including shipping, but i buy ALOT of stuff from him. if you start ordering alot from him, he will probably do these same prices.

    anyway, here is the guy:

Judging from the posts from our japanese friends they and DT seem to be alright, and I also saw that one (or more?) shows were cancelled. Is that all? Will the remaining tour continue as scheduled, or will they do the cancelled dates later. If so, will the upcoming european tour-schedule be changed, I would very much like to know. I know it's hard to do, changing all the dates around, but sometimes they really do that when something happens on tour.

(The reason is: my band got a gig the day DT plays in my town, and when I said 'but DT is playing that night, we can't do it then' they just said 'well, you can probably find someone who'll buy your ticket' Ignorant bunch of asswipes!!! I don't want to piss them off by going to the DT show and letting them do the gig by themselves, but if that's what I'll have to do, I'll do it. But I'm kind of hoping for a delaying of the tour, that would solve at least this problem.)

Another thing: Who will be opening, FW? Are they opening in Japan now, and will they in Europe too?

I just got a letter from EastWest, Dream Theater's label here in the UK, offering me free tickets to the special covers-only gig on 31st Jan (since I subscribe to the official fanzine 'Images and Words'). In the letter, they also mentioned that DT's proposed UK tour had been reduced to only one date, at the London Forum on March 15th.

It would seem that previously published dates which appeared on this list are unconfirmed or cancelled . . but RAW magazine says that a UK tour IS being lined up.

Buy RAW magazine for another competition to win tickets to the special gig!!

    Dear All,

Hi , this is the first time I have written to the List.

Just wrote in to say, how many people think that Jon Petrucci's solo on the LiT video is SO COOL !! I've been playing guitar for about five years, and just can't get over how good and melodic he is, I reckon the best bit of the solo is when the drums keep playing and he goes quiet for a bit, then does this dead bluesy/jazzy little riff for a while, man he is cool !! What do you lot recjon to this and the rest of that vid.

On, a different note, I must admit that the start to Erotomania off Awake still doesn't do much for me, the middle piece id beautiful, really nice, but the start..... nahh!!

And the solo in Innocence Faded is absolutely solid as well, sorry if for some people this is spouting s**t a bit but I love music so much, and whilst on all 3 albums by DT there are small muso spots the majority of it is gorgeous music!

How many people on the list play music of some sort, I ain't being snobby in thinking that most of them do , right ????

Well that's it for the first one, see ya soon, Rob Chinneck

Yeah, I'm safe. But... I was at 'Kobe' in Hyo-go prefecture, when the first Earthquake occured at 5:46 on 1/17!!! And I hadn't be able to escape from there because all the traffic route is crashed and jammed, so I was force to live there, But I was luckily be able to escape from there in the night on 1/18, So I'm now here in Nagoya.

BTW, I and Miss Kaoru were in Osaka on 1/16 to see DT's live. And there I met her. I didn't think that we were going to meet such a big earthquake only about 10 hours later, after we enjoyed DT show, met each other, and we said, 'See you again!' Yeah, Incredible coincedence.

Anyway, we are safe! and I wish other japanese Yjammer's safe. Thanks in advance. Read you later!

Has anyone heard about DT plans after they come back from Europe at the end of MArch ? Are they definitely going to record ACOS because I think it's a cool song, especially live when Petrucci goes off into his "own" world for the solos ? Damn, I wish i could play any of his stuff, but I'm still trying!! I can't wa it for the U.S. Tour to begin soon after that with Fates Warning opening (pleas e !!!). Anyone heard possibly when they're coming back to New York to play ?

Sorry this is going to be non-DT content, but I was really curious about something....

It seems that most of the metal that is out today (and on major/semi-major labels) comes either from the US, UK, and Germany. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but this is why I am posting this....I know that there are others, like Loudness (Japan), Gorky Park (Russia),TNT (Norway is it?), Helloween (Denmark, Holand or one of those countries). and Malmsteen is from like Holland or something - but I don't really know of any here in the States from like, say, Italy or like Greece (Yanni doesn't count) or any other countries.

    If anyone knows of others.....

    Rob,

I don't know when it is coming out but it will probably have the keyboard arranged for guitar.

Hey! I missed the info on how to order the CDs, I've been away awhile. Could someone let me know. If you're doing two, I definitely want both. Matt Slaybaugh

Well, Since everyone else is screaming for a copy of the rare CD being made, might as well give it a shot and ask for you to reserve me a copy too, if you are reserving any at this point. Thanks...

Kevin Moore "KebMo'" A first album on the resurrected and venerable Okeh label? Not a bad start. Seems like he vacillates a little bit between wanting to be a Taj Mahal for the 90s ["Come on in my kitchen"] and a sensitive singer songwriter guy ["Victim of comfort"], but darned if I was dis appointed when the disc was over, and a little ticked that it was so *short.* Moore plays a mean [if reverent] country blues. *** Now if I didn't know any better... Who the hell is this KebMo anyway?<<<

HA!!! I thought I was the only person in the world who knew about this! :) I have this album, actually, and I think it's pretty good! :) (I couldn't resist after finding out the guy's real name, of course. :) He's a black blues singer/songwriter who looks astonishingly like blues legend Robert Johnson (he even covers a Johnson tune on his album). He's been on the syndicated radio show "World Cafe" quite a few times before also.

I was driving down the freeway one day, listening to an alternative radio station, heard one of his songs and just about drove off the road when they said he went by the handle "Keb' Mo'", but his real name was actually "Kevin Moore". :)

At any rate, I don't think anyone will ever confuse the two, Kevin Moore's music is *quite* different from Keb' Mo's, I assure you. ;) The next time I talk to Kevin (uhh, you know, the one who used to be in DT, not the other one :), I'll have to ask him if he knows about his musical "twin"! :)

Kaoru Kobayashi <GCH06672@niftyserve.or.jp>, who is alive and well, thank goodness, filed this report:

    >>>I came back from Osaka right now (It took 13 hours from Osaka to my apartment!). I'm so tired, but I can say : DT IS ALL RIGHT!

DT was in Osaka then, but the hotel they stayed was a little far from the epicenter (The earthquake registering a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale, and in Osaka, it registered an intensity of 4 on the Japanese scale. In Kobe, it registered 6-7). I saw DT members were all safe, and surprised at the earthquake.

Also, I know 3 Ytsejammer (T.Okuda, N.Shioda, and me) went to Osaka show, but we are all safe. I know about 15 Japanese Ytsejammer and almost of them are living in Tokyo area... IF there are any 'jammer living in Kobe/Osaka area (I checked the review of YJam, but I couldn't find any though), I really wish their safe...!

BTW, DT canceled the show on 17th. At first, they were going to do the show but the promoter canceled the show (All of the members were so disapponted...). Traffic was held up and near Sankei-Hall, I saw many crack on the walls and windows of buildings. Over 2000 people were killed in the earthquake, and still around 1000 people are missing. I can't believe my eyes...

DT flew to Fukuoka today, and the Fukuoka show will be done.

I'll report the show on 16th in Osaka later. Thanks again to Jen, Mr.Higuchi, Kazuki, Atsushi, Mr.Nagai, Mr.Shimamura, Mr.Shioda, Noriko, and all people worried about us.<<<

I think I speak for everyone on the list in saying that I'm just *very* glad that you and our fellow YJammers are ok and that you were able to contact us to let us know that. :) I know you must be going through a difficult and confusing time right now, so thanks for "taking the time" to write, and thanks to everyone who has been keeping us informed as to the situation in Japan over the past few days. :)

Greetings all, more news and views from the UK...

I have no idea when the transcription for Awake is coming out, but rumour had it, the I&W book would be out early this year. I think it will hav the piano parts, but I can't remember why I think that.

For the mean time, and I realise you might not want to hear this, use your ear and try and bash out the part for yourself. You'll get something that sounds good and that is pretty close to the original, and whats more, it's damn good practice. Admitedly, I'm not to hot at translating Kevin's solos (not having a keyboard with portamento, bend and mod doesn't help :) but things like Another Day, Wait for Sleep and Space-dye Vest aren't too troublesome.

UK 'jammers, check out Kerrang! for a Queensryche competition.

    Gotta go. Lecture's just started.

    Byee,

    Matt

Yes, there is at least one DT poster out there. At my local music shop in Sacramento, CA, there is a DT poster on the wall. The poster is the inside cover of "Awake". I asked the manager if he would be willing to sell it. He said it was given to him as a promotional by the distributor, and that he only had one. So, if/when he takes it down, I will have the first opportunity to purchase the poster. The only problem is that I live in Oregon. But to answer your question, yes, DT posters do exist.
