Well, I guess I flew off the handle before when I ripped into
the list about the shows possibly being sold out and me hating
everyone on here for it. But hye, I was kinda inebriated at the
            time, so there.....

Anyway, I wound up buying 6 tickets to the show, so I'll
be there with my Ytsejam T-shirt, along with 3 other Ytsejammers,
the beautiful Bush fan girl that I got flamed for, and, unfortunnately
my psycho ex-girlfriend who heard about the show and got a ticket.:P

Oh well, I guess this list is still kewl and all...back
            to your ongoing babble...:P

         Ytsejammers Unite!

It is my firm belief, having read the Word of Dream Theater, that
the ending of PMU is so abrupt because he (the singer/subject) has
finally been 'pulled under' as he has been praying for. Thus the
music ends abruptly because of his being pulled under...

...in response to the Images and Words question, I have also found
myself listening of late to I&W and being blown away. When _Awake_
was released, I listened to little else until well after Christmas.
Lately, _Images_and_Words_ has replaced _Awake_ in my CD player as
often as not. They both rule, each being ideal for different states
         of mind.

You're fighting the weight of the world
and noone can save you this time
            Close your eyes
you can find all you need in your mind...

    Hello,

Well, I'm new to the group and have been a major fan, for maybe 3-4
years (When was I&W released?) Anyway, I saw Dream Theater live two years
ago at the Warfield in San Fracisco. I met most of the band the previous
night at the Testament show. Dream Theater is a great band live, and I
hope to see them soon again.

My question is will they be coming back to the Bay Area this summer?

Also how can I obtain a copy of W.a.D.a.D.U.?

    Thanks,
    -Bill
    bbechtol@cisco.com

P.S.: How many other local(Bay Area) boys(girls) are out there???

    <snip>

BTW, I remember you saying that you had an internship at WPST.(97.5, Trenton)
Yesterday, I was driving home from work and during their traffic
report, they were playing *Take The Time* in the background. Well
the beginning of it up until the first sample. Did you have anything
    to do with that???? :D

    <snip>

This was incredibly cool news for me to hear - I spliced like a motherf*cker!

It's just that part with the bass/drums/guitar volume swell, repeated
over & over, like 6 times. All manual splices - razor blade.

And, John (or anyone who listens to 'PST) - if you listen carefully, I
think I accidentally let the "h" on "Hold It Now!" get through. <shrug>

I would've spent more time on it if I'd known it would make it on the
air...but, I didn't expect it to. =) I guess I'll have to do some more
critical DT listening to find some more "beds" (background music for
    people to talk over).

Just thought you'd all enjoy this. =)

    I'm happy as a pig in mud. =) =) =)

    Dear Ytsejammers,
This is my first posting. I only joined last week to find out when DT
might tour in Chicago this summer, which is where I'm going to be. So, if you
have any DT tour dates for Chicago, post 'em!
To the guy who posted who was a drum-corps fan, I don't know of any corps
playing DT songs this summer. How you could you play one as a drum solo
anyway? The songs are too long. But, if you want to find out about corps'
repertoires and you have Netscape 1.1, try: http://lal.cs.byu.edu/dci/dci.html
That's a DCI website that connects to many individual corps' sites.
To the guy who asked if Portnoy triggered his drums on I&W, the answer is
yes. According to Portnoy in a Modern Drummer interview a while back, his
producer "wrote over" the tracks with electronic sounds triggered by the drums
instead of using the natural sounds. Portnoy wasn't too happy. Can't blame
him: the drums on that album sound like crap (especially the gratuitous timbale
garbage on Metropolis). Thank goodness that was fixed on Awake.
By the way, does anyone else out there think that Awake is just a much
better album than Images and Words? I don't think there's any doubt.

                                                    Later,

                                                    Nathan

A huge thank you to Mike for Subconcious. My copies arrived yesterday all the way down here in New Zealand. Anyone else further away that's got theirs? So anyway, all you in the US still waiting - nyah nyah ny-nyah nyah!!! I haven't listened enough yet to form opinions on the songs other than this: the quality is excellent, Eve is different to what I thought (I was expecting something more like Wait for Sleep), ACOS is awesome (but I haven't heard it enough to take it all in yet), O Holy Night absolutely rocks, Tears is great, the rest I have to listen to more. Awesome effort, Mike, I'm looking forward to the others (though I don't think I can afford Cygnus at the moment - my girlfriend will shoot me!). Anyway, from New Zealand (the *real* home of the America's Cup!) CHEERS!

Let me know if you are gonna be there. Also, directions would be appreciated, I'm gonna be coming from the Baltimore area. Should I just stick with 95? How do I get from 95 to Camden and the Sony Center?

    Hi Jammers!

Well, this is not DT-related but I need your HELP! I'm in a band and we're going to record our first CD this summer. But we have a big problem! As we are germans and our lyrics are written in english we don't really know if they are so that when an American reads them, he doesn't start to laugh. So I would like to ask you (and especially the vocalists on this list!) if you would be so kind to check our lyrics. I would email them to you and then you could perhaps check them out if they are ok (spelling, grammar, etc.). Any help is welcome.

DT-related: I will go to a DT-show here in Saarbruecken (Germany) at 28.6. and I can't stand the time waiting for it. I really hope that they play ACOS. That would be the fullfilling of my dreams.

    Bye.

I just discovered a major error that happened while I've been gone this past month: a bad address was encountered and the listproc software unsubscribed 20-30 valid addresses (along with the bad one). So some of you were accidentally unsubscribed :(

I've resubscribed you. To get back issues of ytsejam, you can send:

    get ytsejam ytsejam.833

to ytsejam-request@arastar.com with a subject of "asdf". (This will retrieve issue 833).

If you wanted to be unsubscribed and I've accidentally resubscribed you, please send:

    unsubscribe ytsejam

to ytsejam-request@arastar.com with a subject of "asdf".

Any other existing problems will hopefully be ironed out in the next week as I continue clearing out error messages.
