Hi. I've been reading about some of you are receiving you DT
fan club packages. Were they the ones that you send away for from
the Images and Words album or did you write to them from the address
in Awake. ( don't know if they are the same address or not).

Did it cost you any money? Can the rest of us still get some?

I'm not sure if this was posted yet or not, but Fates Warning's "best-of" is out. I picked it up as an English import. It's called "Chasing Time." Good collection. Why would anyone go to the trouble of subscribing to a list, just to say that someone sucks? Maybe he was being sarcastic, or maybe its just a troll. Can you say too much time on your hands?

    Dear BenGrim,

    >>>Dream theater is the worst band ever!<<<

I don't know who you are or why you've just decided to post some random note on ytsejam like that, but I feel really sorry for you. I mean, if you have nothing better to do than to find the ytsejam address, then write a letter just for the hell of it, then that means you've got way too much time on your hands. Please, just turn off your computer and go outside, play a sport, go to the mall, make some friends, or something. You've really gotta get out more often.

    Yours, Jeff =)

    Hello world!

I just managed reading tons of digests which were waitinmg for me on my harddisk. About one MB of pure text. Phew.

So I'm quite late with my question to all you Portnoy, Peart, and Zonder fans: Ever heard/seen Ian Mosley (Marillion)? He got his own, very special style. I love it. Mostly he is a very subtle drummer, then, suddenly, he plays a sort of "eruptive" drum fill. Just cool. There are so many crazy drummers, much more than only these three you mentioned over and over again. Steve Z wrote about Sean Reinert. I know his performance on the DEATH-album HUMAN, and yes, he's one of these crazy drummers I thought of... But would I be on this list if I wouldn't like Portnoy most? ;-)))

After MONTHS I found the "Lie" CD-single two weeks ago. You cannot imagine how hard it was to find that thing in my hometown (Cologne/Germany)! Really frustrating to hear you American Jammers talking about the studio version of To Live Forever, when you a) can't find it, b) know it's on a single from UK, what should be a much bigger problem for the American than European fans and c) finally get it and read "Made in Germany" on it... but well, I got it, and I also got a really nice birthday present for a friend of mine... (who is also on this list, but just lurking around. (booo!) Have fun, Thomas!)

Thanks to Hairball for all this technical information about audio recording. If no one else wants to read about it, I do ;-)

And of course a big hello to Mike "Subconcious" Bahr: HELLO! :-)

It appears that "Headbanger's Ball" is gone! It's been replaced by something called "Superock".

I guess the 80s are REALLY over now. :)

Skyclad are definately the Next Big Thing. All of their stuff, with the possible exception of one uninspired album (Jonahs Ark) is killer. The extensive use of violin and keyboard really kicks ass. Most of the heavier-music oriented DT fans on this list would probably like Skyclad. The lyrics are written by a very talented lyricist, and the music is ingenious. Another band a lot of people should take notice of is Amorphis. They are great also. Their music is really hard to describe, its *sorta* death metal, mainly because of the vocals. It also has clean vocals in parts, which provide a nice contrast. They have a ripping keyboard player, who comes up with some of the coolest shit. And the guitarists can really play. The songs are really melodic, and have a definate tune to them. I recommend any DT fan pick up Tales From the Thousand Lakes. It is truly a masterpiece. Greg

Just thought I'd share this with you:

Remember that Foundations Forum convention I've mentioned several times? Back in '92 or '93? (I think that's when it was, it's all so hazy...)

Anyway, I talked to a Rep from Atlantic Metal at that time, who I asked, "Why is LaTM only being released as an import?"

His response was something along the lines of, "Well, we don't think DT has that strong of a fan base here in the states. The album [I&W]'s only sold 350,000 copies [at that time]. What if we put out LaTM here, and it only sells 100,000 copies? That looks like a failure for the band."

    I also asked about WDADU, and why they couldn't get a hold of it, or to get Mechanic/MCA to release it;

"They won't sell it to us. They'd rather leech more money selling it themselves as imports."

The guy was partially obliterated, so, I didn't press the issue. =)

Anyway, hope that explains something to someone.

Also, I just checked in with my neighbor & asked how AWAKE was selling. He said, "I don't know, I'll ask my boss next week." This info will be relayed to everyone here.

He did say, previously, however, that the label was "not happy" with the sale numbers. IMO, I think they had more to do with it than they realize. But, that's a speech for another day.

Now that I have money to spend, can someone e-mail me on how to get a ytsejam shirt? I know, I've been on this list for awhile and I still don't have a shirt, it's sad. I'd like to wear one the next time I go see Dream Theater. Thanks!!
