Is it Thriller, by Michael Jackson?

    >Moshing breaks the boredom of normal concerts.

Try going to extraordinary concerts instead of normal ones. It
    really works!

    >I can't believe that no one mentioned Queen yet, 20 years without one
    >line-up change. Did I miss something?

Well, yes. Their line-up is unavoidably altered currently. That's
    all I'll say.

    > The thing I don't like is that everyone talks about RUSH all the
    >time...

This is a joke, right? Of all the groups that have been discussed to
death on this list besides DT, Rush isn't one that comes to mind (not
like BM, NIN, King Crimson the other day, Savatage, Fates
    Warning....)

    Bzzzz. Sorry.

I hope you're just trying to catch us with a trick one here. I certainly
hope you really *do* remember Cliff Burton, R.I.P.

It may not have been an intentional lineup change, but it did happen.

Hello me, it's me again, in my misfit's way of life...
    >Question 1:What's the error in the subject line and wheresit from?

THe correct line is:"Hello me, meet the real me, and my misfit's way of life"
It's from Sweating Bullets off of Countdown to Extinction by Megadeth.

            Unless you meant...
"Hello me, it's me again, you can subdue but never tame me."

Anywho, Voices was real long, so I didn't put an Authors note in
    that post. Here it is.

                            Author's Note

Actually, how I did this one was, I started Awake and listened to it
up to Voices. When it got to Voices, I put it on repeat, so it's mainly
from that song. This one, IMO, is my best yet, and it followed the lyrics
in a partial sort of way. It was long, if anything.

    >I haven't noticed if anyone responding to this thread has mentioned
    >King's X. Five albums (six if you count Builing Blox) and no member
    >changes at all. This is not to mention Queensryche (who may have been

    >mentioned 'em.
    >

Sorry man. Metallica doesn't count. Cliff Burton died after Master of
Puppets and was replaced by Jason Newsted. Also (don't say anything Bafu):

Who were the four original members of Metallica?

Not as easy as you might think....

    >On PARALLELS, Fates Warning quotes Marillion (who DT like, especially MISPLACED
    >CHILDHOOD), and probably a lot of other bands since it's a popular line:
    >"Where do we go from here" ("White Russian")?
    >

"Where do we go from here? And should we really care?"

That from Megadeth's "Ashes In Your Mouth" of CtE.

    Here's a lyrics quiz:
You have to listend carefully for this one...

            "Fucking Mooooooooooooove, Fuck!"

Lets see if you can guess it.

    >I've got to say though that the show I went to in Minneapolis was GREAT.
    People were NOT bored,
    >everyone was really into the show, but they weren't moshing or disrupting
    anything.
    > And another reason not to mosh: Did Labrie get pissed off at one show and
    just walk off because
    >people were moshing? So if the band doesn't like it, more reason not to do it.
    > Chris
    >
Isn't it ALSO true that that happened during Surrounded?? Like I said, I
would do it only if I get worked up, and Surrounded doesn't usually drive me
    into a destructive frenzy.

    >Any reference to Me is merely the opinion of the poster and should not be
    >considered devinely inspired. I reserve the right to judge all in anyway
    >that I see fit and do not hold Myself accountable to rules set up by the
    >writings of mortals.

Do you guys think that God would misspell "divinely"?

YYYYEEEEEESSSSS!!! Voices was the last post on the Jam! Heh, heh. Cooool.
I never get the last spot.

    >>Once again no DT content, but another of these trivia questions to close with

Last I remember, it was Michael Jackson's Thriller.

       Hey, Graham.

You could spend the $20 on the tickets and then $2000 in medical bills
after some mosher breaks most of your bones. MOving around is good, Smashing
into another person intentionally is insane. Besides, there's nothing wrong
with watching your favorite musician play if you are a musician. It's called
    learning.

GHead banging? Sounds interesting. when I tried it, I got dizzy. Maybe I'm
doing it wrong. For me, when I see a concert, I am listening to the band and
singing along, moving to the music. Between songs, I may jump up and down and
scream my head off. Moshing for blind people really isn't a good thing. And
most of what I know about moshing is people flying into each other as fast as
they can. To me, DT's progressive style doesn't call for it. If they played
Lie without its progressive parts, maybe.

To David Peterson. I have The Best of Emerson Lake and Palmer. There are a
few of them out there, so watch out. This disc seems to be pretty good, even
has a christmas song from them. The track from hell is Tarkus, a 20 minute
song that comes out of nowehere and goes in seventy directions all at once.
Keith Emerson is a demon on keyboards. that, unfortunately is the only ELP
stuff I have. If I can find the box set, I may get that next. Aside from
that, I don't know what else to get But start with Best of ELP. It has
Tarkus, Lucky Man, Black Moon, A christmas song will probably be the last
song on the disc. That's all I can tell you. Copyright date probably around
    1993 or so.

OK folks, here's the survey results:

I only got 76 responses in all, so they are not as exciting as they
    could be.

The first question was "which album did you buy first and why?"

    Image and Words - 62
    Awake - 10
    WDADU - 4
    ACOS - 0

As far as the reason why people bought them:

    Because they saw/heard a song on the radio/video: 37
Because of an acquaintance introducing DT's music to them: 22
Because of seeing them in a concert: 2
Because of reading a review about DT: 6
Because of something seen/heard in a store: 2
For no reason whatsoever (or no reason given): 7

Images and Words was most likely bought because of hearing a song on
    the radio (34)

Awake was most likely bought because of an acquaintance introducing
    it to them (6), and

WDADU was most likely bought because of reading a review about it (2)
    ___________________________________________________________________

Question #2 said "What is your favorite DT song?"

    Metropolis: 15
    LtL: 15
    Scarred: 6
    Surrounded: 6
    ACOS: 6
    Voices: 4
    TTT: 4
    SDV: 3
    Mirror/Lie: 2
    AD: 2
    UAGM: 2
The following each got 1 vote:
Erotomania, LSOAD, Innocence Faded, WFS, Fortune in Lies, Silent Man,
A Mind Beside Itself, 6:00, PMU.

    2 People refused to answer.
    _____________________________________________________________________

The third question was "Which DT song is your least favorite?"

Light Fuse and Get Away: 7
    Afterlife: 6
    Innocence Faded: 6
    Another Day: 6
    Status Seeker: 4
    Killing Hand: 4
    LSOAD: 4
    Lie: 4
    Space-Dye-Vest: 4
    Silent Man: 4
    WDADU(whole album): 2
The following songs each got one vote for least favorite:
The Led Zeppelin cover on ACOS, Voices, UAGM, Two Far, CiaW, TTT, To
Live Forever, 6:00, the Elton John cover on ACOS, Oh Holy Night
(Acoustic Dreams), Erotomania, PMU, Those Who Help To Set The Sun,
    Scarred, WFS, LtL.

9 people refused to answer this question.

Can you believe some of those least favs? I mean, scarred, LtL,
Voices, TTT???? And what's with the covers? DT does them, but they
are not DT songs. Oh sure, flame away all you LtL haters out there
    :)
    _______________________________________________________

The fourth question was "How old are you?"

The Average Ytsejammer (that responded to the survey) is 21.8 years
    old.
The total range went from 13 years old to 36 years old, although
there was a certain person who shall remain nameless who refused to
answer this question but said they would be up there with the older
    jammers.

Jammers fell into the following age ranges:
    Under 20: 25
    20-24: 34
    25-29: 11
    30+: 6

Although the number (of respondents) is kind of small for any further analysis, I
    will offer the following:

Of the Under 20 crowd, Metropolis was the favorite song while
       Afterlife was the least favorite.

For 20-24 year-olds, LtL was the favorite song and IF was the
        least favorite.

Among 25-29 year olds, Metropolis was the favorite song and Light
Fuse... and LSOAD tied for least favorite.

In the above 30 area, no two of them agreed on a favorite or a least
    favorite song.

    Now here's an interesting statistic:
Of the 10 people who refused to answer either question #2 or #3
(FAV and Least FAV song), 7 of them were 20 years old or younger.
The other three were 21, 22, and that one person who refused to give
their age. So we can see that the wishy-washy among us are usually
    the young ones.
    ______________________________________________________

The fourth question asked which sex you were. All but 4 were male.

Amongst those four women, there was no agreement whatsoever about
favorite song or least favorite song. FAV's were Metropolis, LtL,
Scarred, SDV, Mirror/Lie, Least FAV's were IF, Afterlife, SM, Lie.

Obviously among the men, Metropolis and LtL were tied for favorite as
they pretty much represent the whole survey.
    _________________________________________________________

The last question asked what instrument you play:

    Guitar: 21
    Keys: 14
    Drums: 11
    Vocals: 7
    Bass: 4
    Trombone: 3
    Clarinet: 3
    Violin: 3
    Trumpet: 2
    French Horn: 1
    Saxophone: 1
    Harmonica: 1
    No Instrument: 21

Amongst the guitar players, LtL was the favorite song
Amongst the Keys players, LtL was the favorite song
Amongst the drummers, Surrounded and Metropolis tied for favorite
              song
Amongst the non-musicians, Metropolis was the favorite song.

The only intersting result here was that Surrounded was a drummer
favorite (very small numbers and probably no statistical
significance, but hey, what the hell).

There was absolutely no agreement about least favorites here.

There you have it, Metropolis and LtL are the list's favorite, and
the list is 21.8 years old, and male, and a mix of musician types.

Hey! I was listening to the local classic rock station today, and they
have this thing called "Hey ma, I'm a DJ" or something. So, this average
everyday guy gets to be a DJ for an hour or whatever. So, I'm listening
today, and the first tune this guy plays is "Tom Sawyer." This is cool.
Then he plays Elton's "FFaF/LLB." Coincidence? Maybe. Then, like three
songs later, he plays "Carry On Wayward Son." Now, this is too weird.
So I call the guy, and say, "Are you by any chance a DT fan?" He tells
me that a friend of his is, but he never really seriously listened. I
proceed to tell him that DT covered those tunes on ACoS, and he says,
"Cool. I'll have to pick that up." Yay!

So, do I get a free t-shirt or something?

Hey "Dude," I daresay that ~50% of the subscribers to this list are diehard
Rush fans, and probably ~75% listen to them. So, deal with it, and
move on... next? Hey, we could start a new thread... everyone who listens
to Rush, post it to the list so we can have our six 'jams a day back.

Some of us are in non-digest mode. I usually receive at least 3
letters every time I check the e-mail from my server. I think with
the digest form you have to wait until a certain amount of lines are
reached, but I'm not so sure. This is probably why you've gotten a
response before you got the digest mail.

Sometimes, the responses and original post are in the same ytsejam digest.

I've been reading some posts about a band named Savatage (?) --
hopefully I got that right. Can anyone tell me what the title of
their newest album is with that 20+ minute song on it? I'm interested in hearing
it. And if anyone knows where in central NJ to get it, please e-mail
    me.

BTW, has anyone after #348 received their Acoustic Dreams CD? I'm
getting a little anxious to hear how good it is after reading all the
posts from those who've receive theirs.

Also, to the person who updates the DT lyric WWW page/FTP, are you going to
include the lyrics from the additional non-DT-written songs from the
Acoustic Dreams CD? I've been writing a Win95/NT program to display
the lyrics and could use the lyrics from the CD.

    Thanks...

OOPS! Big mistake. You got me. I forgot all about Cliff (I know, I
know, Sacrilege). But I am still right on with Queensryche. They
haven't had any personnel changes since they began recoerding.

You know, I LOVE that song. I got the soundtrack to the movie, though.
Now the REALLY weird thing is that the movie is on RIGHT NOW as I am

    Hey all you Ytsejamers!

If you wrote to me and have not gotten a response back yet..write
again. I have had trouble with my E-Mail. (sigh).

Anyway...Mike the AD cd sounds great! Thank you again! It just
will not come out of my CD Player!

Just a quick note...about the DT POSTER/ CD drawing...

if you order (for example 2 hats,or whatever) your name will
be entered (2) times in the drawing..so you will have a better chance
to win the DT signed poster, or the SUBCONSCIOUS CD. If you buy 1000
hats..you get to have dinner with the band! (just a silly joke...)..but
I would somehow arrange it. (grin) ...hehehe..

           take care...
