I don't know why the mails have bounced. See if this gets
through then you can just reply, or maybe our systems can't
interface. I really love going to London, going again on Friday,
a sad occasion when we meet outside Freddie's house at the time
he died. Last year some big guys rolled up in a limo and opened
a bottle of Champagne to Freddie. Patricia

I don't have much time, so I'll keep this post rather short. Last night I
went to Mike Portnoy's drum clinic in White Plains. IT was awesome. It
was mostly a question and answer appearance. People from the crowd asked
Portnoy a broad range of questions ranging from how he plays certain parts
of songs to where he thinks of the best beats. Some of his answers were
odd. Did you all know that Portnoy thinks of his best beats on the toilet!
He wasn't kidding when he told the crowd of around 200+ that. The way he
described the way he played different songs was by playing a specific part
first. This part was a part someone asked from the audience. Then he did
it slower and explaining what speed it is. Most of his songs are in odd
speeds. He did such a great job doing it because I didn't know a thing
about reading or listening to music. Now I have an idea from his
explaination. Portnoy also played an instrumental to start of the clinic,
the middle part of Metropolois in the middle of the clinic, and the entire
ErotoMania for us to close it. All in all the clinic was awesome.
Andrew Keegan a fellow jammer that I went with to the show asked Portnoy
the question about moshing. Now to set everything straight, Portnoy
believes that Moshing should be done when it's appropriate. He is totally
against Moshing at useless times such as during songs like Wait for Sleep.
But in general Portnoy is in favor of moshing.
There is so much that I can say about this clinic, but I don't have enough
time. Hopefully someone else who went can inform you guys with the rest.
******************************ATTENTION MIKE BAHR*******************************
This is a direct request from Mr. Portnoy himself. HE said that the person
making the covers for the albums you make should make the designs at a
lighter color, so it would be easier for him to sign them.

'jammers,
Thanks to the two posters who said the list sucks and the members of
Blind Melon can die, fuck you etc...I laughed out loud during those posts
and take no offence. I'll support you guys through all the flames...
I noticed that Elton John's covers were disliked by many and had to
comment that I loved these 2 covers. Mainly it's the guitar melodies
over the piano backing that is very expressive to me. And I don't own an
Elton John CD's!
Also, how many people have a bootleg of James singing Voices. The one I
have is James LaBrie at his absolute worst. Did he have a cold or
something?!?

Give the d00d a round of applause!!! For probably the last 4-6 monthZ
I've gone through my Ytse-mail in a matter of secondZ because of all the
Bullshit that'Z been going through, and the serious repatition in OLD
threadZ. I'm not going to go so far as to say the list is shit, cause All
the original people who made me fall in love with this list are still out
there, and still posting the same c00l stuff that they alwayZ have. I
think the lack of better tingZ to do, along with the immaturity of a LOT
of people has caused the quality of the list to drop emmensly in the past
couple of monthZ...but it'Z not cause we're a bunch of moronZ or
anything...it'Z because we've forgotten what our main purpose is here.
So...since I'm a nice guy...YTSEJAM is for Dream Theater EnthusiastZ who
want to talk about Dream Theater, and related bandZ...and it'Z AlwayZ
been WAY more than c00l to try and reccomend other bandZ who we might
think another DT fan might be intereted in. This one aspect alone has
made for a LOT of st00pid flame warZ, and has created a lot of tension on
here. So before I decide to start treating the lame people of this list
(and it Totally painZ me to think any one of you people might be lame!!!)
like I do lame people on IRC (hehe just ask Anyone who'Z pissed me off on
#Ytsejam) by E-mail bombing them from anonymous accountZ or
something...PUH-LeeZe use g00d judgement when it comeZ to the list. If
you think a person on here SuX...send THEM E-mail...not the entire list.
If you think a person is false advertising by reccomending a band that ou
thnk SuX...don't just say "You suck cause you like that band" and dumb
shit like that, it only makeZ people lose respect for you, and your
ability to be an open-minded individual...instead, give us reasonZ why
you aren't fond of that band, and help us sae some money! We didn't get
this far by being a bunch of pissy people who flame the shit out of
eachother whenever we disagreed with someone...we got this far by being a
Damn Tight unit of people with the same goal...to celebrate a band who'Z
Talent, and excellent musicianship is FAR beyond anything a personZ ear'Z
can possibly hear...and to help them achieve musical goalZ, and inspire
them to be THE BEST that they can be. The guyZ of the band have been
impressed by us because of our extensive knowledge of the band, our
ability to be open-minded, and prolly the fact that about 80% of us are
musician'Z...and that the few who aren't musicianZ are brilliant enough
to recognize g00d music when they hear it. You people are like family to
me, and to a TON of the people on here, and I'm Damn proud to be a part
of you...The YTSEJAM Is NOT hell...it'Z a group of people striving for
musical perfection, and we can Easily make it that...if we just unite,
put our grudgeZ aside, and help eachother be better Dream Theater
EnthusiastZ! O.k. hehe lecture over...now letZ have some fun...and
remember to "Find all you need in your mind." Also...check out #Ytsejam
on Global IRC (try irc.colorado.edu or irc.epix.net for best resultZ) and
go meet other ytsejammerZ!!! (I'll give away free scriptZ to anyone who
can beat me in a IRC war...hehe) Take care all!!!!!

OK, now I have a lot of weight to get off my chest.
Ryan, I saw your post about how the Ytsejam has gone to hell.
Well, in all honesty, I disagree... EXCEPT for the last few Jams. I can't
say I was too thrilled with the moshing discussion myself. But! Saying it
was better last year is simply wrong. During that dead summer while we
waited for Awake, the Ytsejam existed in such a degenerate state that I
unsubscribed for the only time in history, only to join back up a few
weeks before the album came out. We had NOTHING to talk about. Now at
least we have some semi-worthy topics.
Jason Hartman and Mike Backof have a GREAT idea with that
covers-compilation tape project! I sure plan on buying a copy. I hope you
guys and girls will support their efforts in this as wonderfully as
you've always supported mine. I have sort of a first-hand knowledge of
how the costs line up for this sort of thing, and CDs are cheaper than
cassettes to make, but at the same time they don't have to rent equipment
or pay studio time, so I would place the price point at $15, with
addition shipping only if they're out of country. However they may have a
great wholesale connection I don't know about. If so, more power to 'em.
Someone asked about the Metallica album themes... like Rush,
Metallica has had coherent themes for their albums, but the first three
weren't as defined and polished as AJFA was. Ride The Lightning was about
death, Master of Puppets was about manipulation, AFJA was about
inequality/injustice, and the black album lacked a theme.
As to the long songs poll... the winners are pretty much
determined now... there's no possible chance any other song will catch
the front runners, going by the numbers, so it'll be interesting only to
see who brings up the rear. And for write-in votes... yes, I am scoring
all of them. Then again, speaking of the front runners... what did I
expect... look where we ARE. The DREAM THEATER list. :) (though the
number 1 is going to shock and dismay you.)
Same with albums... one album has over 150 more points over it's
nearest competitors, so it's just a matter of what #2-N turn out to be. I
might as well declare a winner now so nobody wastes further votes on
it... Operation Mindcrime. :)
On to other things. For no real reason, a random 50 or so copies
of WDATU shipped will have free sealed booster packs of Magic: The Gathering
cards enclosed. If you choose to do nothing with them, oh well, I
guess that's the way it is. I would hope you'll give this game a try,
however. It's deep and it appeals to the kind of intelligence that can
also appreciate complex progressive rock. The packs aren't playable by
themselves, but they make a nice "first look" at things. For those of you
who already _play_ the game, enjoy your free pack of Fallen Empires.
("knowing" grin) If you decide to try it, grab a starter deck at your
local Tower Records or gaming/comic/hobby shop and you can include the
free cards I gave you right away into your play deck.
Not a whole lot more to say just now, so I want to wish every one
of you a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend... go Chiefs (I hate Dallas,
how about them Niners!!), go Arizona State Sun Devils (sorry Arizona
Wildcats, but this year it's ours), eat heavily of thy food and enjoy it,
and I won't be able to read mail until Sunday or so, so understand why
there are no replies to anything you send, until then. :)

Well I know you said to tell you through E-mail but your wrong. <Dont want
everyone thinking the wrong thing> Just to clear the death thing up it
happend during the scene where they are rapeing his GF and throw him out the
window. He was suppose to walk in with a bag of food and get shot. He
walked in and when they shot him a casing shot out with the force enough to
go through his chest.
The triva ? answer was the fight between him and funboy becuse he help a
mortal. also missing is the skull cowboy cut from every scene of the movie.
By the way I got out my copy of WDADU last night with all the talk about it.
I still like it and I even like LFaGA. But I guess I just like all of it.

This is a short letter to all the 'jammer's letting you know that I did
indeed receive an e-mail from Bafu Vai. I made a harsh statement about him
on the 'jam about his not replying to his e-mail and I am now retracting said
statement. He really does reply to his e-mail, contrary to my belief's.
So, Steve, I apologize. I was wrong.
Now, let's get back to having fun on the 'jam. Talk to all of you
later, George.

I used to get several 'jams a day. I haven't gotten one since Saturday. The
last one I got was #1141. What has happened?
Keep 'em coming, George.

Yep, though this is starting to get WAY off track as far as the subject
of the list is concerned. Funboy comes to and attacks Eric. He slashes
Eric with the razor that Darla had and Eric doesn't heal. This is why
Eric is wearing the black tape later in the movie.

WDADU was the 2nd CD I bought by DT I&W being the first. I was taken aback
by Charlie's vocals at first, but after giving a couple more listens I
thought "This is genuine DT". Charlie's got a good voice and I have to
agree with the other person who said "maybe your used to hearing James
voice....". I thought the same thing myself about myself and that's why I
listened to it some more and gave it my stamp of approval.

Understated; Kevin is brilliant on this CD!
>Amen! (oh no, now I've started another religious debate :p).
Amen is ok with me, do you know what it means? No debate here, BTW I'm the
debater or the debatee depending on your perspective.

A very high-energy track, tight and you need to listen to it at least 4 or 5
times before you catch the feel, that's how long it took me.
TKH - the most dynamic song on the CD IMO. James "can't touch that", thats'
Charlies song vocally speaking :).
TOWHTSTS - Mike tears it up with his mathmatically written drum time again.
I'm still trying to learn the into.

Kudos on that!
Give Thanks for all you have Happy Thanksgiving All God Bless,
