Yes, Les Miserables is one of the greatest musical creations in history.

Eponine sings beautiful songs, and when she's Lea Salonga she is the most
stunningly beautiful, gorgeous-sounding woman ever to go on stage . . .

Just those four words, "pretending he's beside me", make me shiver every time.

Stop drooling, Graham, you'll ruin your mouse.

I've heard stupid responses by people when I play them DT's music
(ie. They are not melodic enough for my liking!!), but this one takes the
cake and is kind of funny, in a sick way.
Today I was playing to my rather new friend (btw, we are 16) I&W.
He has never heard DT, and likes "heavy music" (NIN, Metallica). Well, he
had some brilliant reviews of I&W and Dt.
All in all, he didn't like it, here are some specific reviews:

    1. During Metropolis solo: "This sounds like a Nintendo game!" Okay there.

    2. During LTL keyboard intro: "These guitars sound weird and stupid!"
Yeah, sure, they are keyboards buddy!

            I need new friends, really.

It's very hard to get good quality sound out of a video camera
microphone. The best way I know of is to pull a dat off the mixing board
and then synch it to the video. Most of the "good" live commercial
releases are handled this way. I must agree though.. good audio is way
more important than good video.. at least for me...

gee, bracken, that was cool for giving me back on the cd's. thanks a lot.
gee, that made my day (along with a thing my girlfriend told me, which shall
    go untold).

    damon;
back to keys. let's not even go there in regasrds to kev's keys on wdadu. god
    knows i have no clue.

the monolead sound is one that is strictly a korg sound. i don't have the
dw8k, but i have an x2 that does the job just fine. and yes, you were
absolutely correct in saying he uses the roland jd800, instead of the jv900
as i said. sorry about that (you would think that after transcribing that
interview of his, i would know the thing like the back of my hand.

i still have to disagree and think that the 600 intro and solo sounds sound
like a distorted guitar patch on a keyboard. although it does sound similar
to the distorted organ on erotomania, it's a lot thinner and piercing and
than eroto sound (which i also have). and it can't be the lead sound thru a
    box b/c a) he doesn't use outboard fx, b) since it's a monophonic sound,
can't play chords on it (it sounds like shit when you edit it to be
polyphonic). tricky little issue we have here. i wish i had the learning to
    live patch.

btw, you think you can tell me (perhaps privately) about the ensoniq boards?
been interested in them, and also the kurzweil k2500s rack. any info would be
    appreciated. thanks.

    other things:
found the iron maiden somewhere in time re-issue cd today. bonus cd, all very
nice packaging. speaking of packages, any floyd freaks who have seen the
re-issues of "relics"- PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR 35 DOLLARS ON THIS PIECE OF
SHIT CD. if you have their box set, it's the same songs as that bonus cd they
throw in, and if you can find an original version of that cd, but that (if
you don't have the box). the only difference is that there are these cute
little pictures that someone apparently thought was worth 20 more bucks for a
    cd. bull shit.

    later g's.

    Hmmm.. this thread looks familiar...

Anyways, I'd like to put in my $0.02 for "Touch Of Evil" off _Painkiller_.
There's a synth part (albeit mostly just a string pad), so Derek can
participate. And if it's already been suggested (I did my best to see if
someone hadn't suggested it already), then consider it a second to the
    original motion. :)

One more thing. Y'all are gonna think I'm insane. I can hear Garth

That would be Gary Smith. He has done the art work of most of the
Savatage albums. He also was an actor in the "Streets" video. He played
the character "DT Jesus". He has done other works, but i have not seen
any yet, although I would really like to. He did not do the cover art on
DWD since he was busy with other project during that time.

I hope that is enough, if not ask me...

Fat chance. I doubt Rush will ever go back to their progressive days again.
Really, if you think about it, Rush was truly prog from FTK to Moving
Pictures. I guess you could put 2112 there also. They are progressive in
the sense that they constantly change, and never sit on their respective
laurels. Anyways, if there's one thing that I've learned from listening to
Rush, is to never expect anything from them; just good music. You have to
really hear each new album w/ a totally open mind, because you don't know
what to expect... of course I'd love it if they did another 10 min.
excercise in self-indulgence. Who knows, maybe if they do end up touring w/
DT... after all, Rush has always been influenced by the new trends in music,
and it seems there's an 80's metal revival starting up.

Something weird happened today... I've been getting into Angra a lot lately
(although I've only heard one song by them), and all of a sudden, somebody
told me that in the radio, they said that they might be coming to Panama
soon... and I hadn't even mentioned them to him... I'm feelin' kinda spooky:)

I have two questions for the FAQ which have been discussed here a bit, but
if anyone has a chance to ask the band, please do.

    1) Why does the band not want to work with David Prater again, when he
    produced their most successful album..?

And I'm not just talking about Mike here. I know he was unsatisified with
his sound, but what do the other members think...?

    2) Were they unhappy with the production on AWAKE..?

    3) Once and for all, do we know for fact who will be producing the next
    album...?

If anyone gets a chance to ask the band, let me know what they say.

    Later.

well, after many requests i guess it is inevitable. it is time to
do another of the dt xmas shows. if you missed out on the birch hill
    tape, here is your chance.

i havent decided which to do, but i am leaning toward the last one
in connecticut, since the sound is just as good as the birch hill
tape, and the set is much different. it has many solos and jams that
are really cool. and the best part about it is i left my DAT recording
like an idiot after the show, and you get an extra 15 minutes of me, andy,
jonathan, and adam yakking before we left :) (just kidding, i will edit
    that out) ;)

anyway, feel free to discuss this issue here. dont inundate me with
requests just yet. i will make a formal announcement with instructions
    next week.

it will probably be the exact same situation as before, i will send
out 6-8 DAT clones, and each DAT guy will have an analog branch and
then there will be another analog branch. the worst tape anyone gets
is a 2nd gen from a DAT. all for the price of blanks and postage.

anyway...i just wanted to let everyone know that i am planning this.

    later...

(oh anyone else taping tori on this tour? if so, contact me *please*) :)
