    Hello All,
I'm hoping someone here can help me. I am dying to get my hands
on a copy of the Queensryche Road to the Promised Land show that was
broadcast over the radio. The only hard rock station here around Denver
won't tell me if it will ever be re-broadcast by them (they've switched
formats from metal to alternative, uhg!), and they refuse to make a
copy. I understand the second part of that. Anyhow, it seems to me that
someone out there has a copy and hopefully someone out there would be
willing to trade with me for it. I'd LOVE to hear from you, whomever you
are. (If anyone is wondering why I don't take this question to the
Queensryche newsgroup, let's let it suffice to say that they're not
the same caliber of people as here on the 'Jam.) Thanks much in advance
    for your help.

    Slainte,
    Bracken

    HI there,

To answer the request of Pat Daugherty, here is the track listing of the
Jethro Tull tribute that will be released by Magna Carta (June 03):

New day yesterday / Teacher / Nothing is easy / To cry you a song / Cat's
squirrel / Living in the past / Aqualung / Mother goose / Minstrel in the
gallery / Life's a long song / Locomotive breath / Up the pool / One brown
    mouse.

    Artists involved:

Charlie Mussel / Clive Bunker (?) / Dave Pegg (?) / Derek Trucks / Derek
sherinian / Echolyn / Gleen Cornick (?) / Glenn Hugues / Ian Mc Donald /
John Wetton / Keith Emerson / Magellan / Mathew Pegg (?) / Mick Abrahams
    (?) / Mike Summerland / Mike Varney ! / Phil Manzanera / Robby Steinhardt /
Robert Berry / Roy harper / Stan Johnson / Tempest / Wolfstone.

I find funny that many Jethro Tull members appear on this tribute!!

Less impressive that the list of artists involved in the Rush tribute, but
    not bad...

How did I get the info? One of my best friend work for Roadrunner, the
European label that distribute the Magna Carta records...

i made a bonheaded move today!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK!

i bought a second copy of a coltrane cd, forgetting i had gotten it last
week. i'm either a fool, or i just have too many cd's to play with.

so i will make a deal. anyone who wants coltrane's "my favortie things" cd,
the person who gives me the best offer by midnight saturday will also get the
autographed fight single cd i have up for grabs. know that the coltrane will
come to you opened, but never played. so there.

    bafu;
nice sig copyright. but you forgot to un-cap my name in there! everything
small headed unless you're a) REALLY trying to get a point across, ("i REALLY
think that bestiality is what america needs."). b) really pissed, ("i swear
to god, if i hear anymore about how good the chicago bulls are, i'll KICK
THEM IN THE NUTS."). c) really excited (I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. jp promised me
    free lessons!!).

hoping somone digs my idea with the cd's.
i have a sig file now, sort of. more like famous last words that will forever
on be my motto. enjoy it (anyone who knows of a REAL sig file maker for mac,
    email me!).

    love ya, sweets.

Lost my e-mail account for a while there - but now I'm back. Anything
         new going on?

Purchased DT's Live at the Marquee recently at Tower. $21.99 for the
German import - OUCH! But it was worth it! Bombay Vindaloo blew me

         purchase...

Anyway, just wanted to let ya'll know that I've returned...

Maybe. The reason why I like AD more than Subconscious is that it flows much
easier and definitely has better sound quality. However, both CDs have their
pluses and minuses. For me, Subcon gave me my first crack at the original
ACOS (I fell in love with the kickass intro!) and some of the more rare DT
material that exists. The big minus in my book is that the quality is not
that great in some areas, but that can be overlooked. AD, of course has
excellent quality (it was taken from a radio show, right?) and gives us a
look at DT without all the fast-paced adrenaline-driven music. They revert
to the raw acoustic sound. The only minus I can think of is that the CD is
shorter than Mike Bahr's other releases. But, I guess the old saying
    "Quality, not quantity" applies here.

    Dear Jammers,

Hey there! Sorry that I haven't posted in awhile, I've been caught up
with work and such. But, I'm posting to update all of you on the
    situation right now.

I spoke with Don Douglas recently, and he basically gave us the green
light to go ahead with this project! I told him that it will be sometime
in October. The reason why I pushed it up so late is because Dream
Theater's new album will be coming out around that time and it is most
probable that the YtseCon III will become a listening party to preview
the new album!! This is a great way for Dream Theater to get feedback
from their most devoted fans, and it's a great way for us to listen to
what we will be buying before they hit the stores!

So, October is the tentative time for it to take place, and Dream Theater
will most definitely be there! I am keeping very close ties with Don
Douglas and Dream Theater, so I will be able to contact them easily over
the summer. Things are looking really great for this Con, so I hope that
    you guys can come!

If you plan on going, please email Chris Merlo (aka the Digital Man) at
cmerlo@cs.uvm.edu, and tell him how many people you plan to bring. I
will fill you guys in on all of the details over time, but otherwise it
looks like the YtseCon III will be happening.

If you have any questions regarding information about the YtseCon III,
feel free to email me at jc309@columbia.edu. That's all for now, I'll
    keep you jammers informed. TTYL!

    Yours,
    Jeff =)

Maybe this has been discussed in eons past, but has anyone else noticed JM's
mistake at the end of Cruise Control? Just before that long descending run
into Turn It On, he plays one note and then drops out. Is it sacreligeous to
    suggest such a thing?

Hey there! I know there's been some folks wondering if `When Dream and Day
Unite' had been re-released in the USA. Well, just in case anyone was still
wondering, it has. I just picked it up today from my local campus record
store. They usually suck, but they had this and ACoS. Anyway, It's about
time I got this CD, I missed out on getting the import version.

For anyone whose local shop doesn't have it, and wants to special order or
something, the CD is put out by One Way Records (I believe someone mentioned
that here already) and the number is MCAD-22190.

It was quite a shock looking back to how DT used to dress in the 80's. I'd
seen the CD before, but, that was back in '92, so back then I wasn't
suprised, but looking at the liners from more recent CDs, whew...

Well, anyway, I suppose that's a pointless point, so I'll let ya'll go
    now...

    Anyway...

The dubbing project for the 2nd El 'N Gee show gets a full applaud from
me! Its the only show I hit of those four, and it seriously kicked @$$
(like any haven't)...except for the mike problem at the start (6:00), and
maybe the lighting problem at the end (only one spotlight, and MP's
improvisation). Anyway, I'm all for it, count me in!

"NOOOOOO!!!!!" <-- probably in "Legend" somewhere

Speaing of Legend...is that a totally ephemeral movie or what! Just a
great film altogether. I was thinking (uh oh!) that if DT ever did some
kind of movie soundtrack, it would be for some fantasy-type movie...like
Legend. How about that DragonHeart film coming out this summer?

I sometimes wish I had something witty to say...so I could be like Bafu!!!

Phantom powered means that the mic takes it's power from another source
and doesn't have any means of generating its own power. This is also used
in some rack effects. The power comes from the connection, similar to
    most telephones...

A lot of people would probably say that they're the eagle. I know what I
am, and it's not on that list. I'm the dragon who soars above the
countryside and scorches whatever flock he desires into ash, leaves the
eagle alone as an equal trapped in a small feathery body, and while having
no respect for the shepherd whatsoever, lets him be as the spineless
fellow still fills the noble role of creating order in a mindless bundle
    of chaos.

definately cool. I really didn't think Handful's cover was all that
bad, just not comparable to the rest.

ok i'll keep this one short. later.

Five random discs I listened to today that aren't DT/****/QR:
(since I don't have a handy five-disc changer like all the cooool folks)

    1) Spin Doctors "Homebelly Groove...Live"
    2) Heart "Brigade"
    3) Big Sugar "500 Pounds"
    4) Stone Temple Pilots "Purple"
    5) Eric Johnson "Ah Via Musicom"

DT and QR haven't soured my tastes for the "simpler pleasures" as Partha
put it. When I first bought Joe Satriani's "Surfing With The Alien," I
remember my tastes suddenly shifted over to the technical side of music.
Like a whirling dervish I would assault the music stores and hunt down
every piece of instrumental guitar music that I could find.

Then after about a year of nothing but guitar albums and keeping my ears
on a strict diet of unlocking the mysteries of fretboard wizardries, I
started re-listening to some of my older cassettes and reminding myself
that I was still Me and it was okay to keep liking what I grew up with.
After all, sometimes you just gotta flip on "Licenced To Ill" and FORCE
yourself to rap along with every single word of "Paul Revere" just to get
    back to being You.

(and you know I wasn't implying that Eric Johnson is "simple")

(hmm, "unlocking the mysteries of fretboard wizardries," kinda catchy)

I wish *I* could do that.
