Some people on the jam seem to be "ashamed" to admit that they like bands
such as Pearl Jam, Green Day, etc. but will state with a passion that
they love DT. And in "alternative world", some people are the opposite where
they say they love PJ, and Green Day, but cannot admit that they love
Rush or classical music, for example.

I don't see why we have to "admit" that we like Pearl Jam (for example).
Has anyone ever recieved any flames from ytsejammers saying ("you suck
for likeing alternative music"). I mean, if you like something, you
should not be afraid to admit it. I like some of the above bands, but I
will not say "please don't flame me for liking these bands" or "I'm not
afraid to ADMIT that I like PJ."

My point: well, it's been stated before, but just say you like something
without the fear of what other jammers think. There's a lot of
open-minded people on the list and they can understand that a jammer can
like a band that the majority of jammers might not like. See 'ya.

Not much has to be said about tools like this guy. I can actually relate quite well to that little snippet from 6:00. Every morning before work I sit in the car in the parking lot a work and have my last ciggy with the window down, so as not to draw attention from me bosses. And every morning I can never get the last song I listened to outa by head, always a DT or Fates song. Shit this morning it was Status Seeker and it 4:30pm and its still in my head, lucky me.

Anyway to get to the point, if this tool can't relate to a song or doesn't like it he doesn't have to listen to it. Nor does he have to bag it out. Basically his above copy/pasted lyrics don't mean jack and suck. I wish my luck on selling more albums the DT with his wild, meaning lyrics.

Here's a message forwarded to me from Andy from Delaware. It's a letter he got from Chris Buzby, the now-defunct echolyn's former keyboard player. It should answer a lot of those unanswered questions that we echolyn fans have. Happy reading!

---------- Forwarded message ---------- To: ytsejam@udel.edu Subject: Hello, and an update

    Hello Andy

Thanks for your reply. It's great to hear from you and to know there is support for my decision to leave echolyn and pursue other musical interests. I'm very eager for people to hear my new material, because I feel it only takes what echolyn was doing and pushes it to the next level musically.

Cutting the ties of echolyn and moving on with my career in music was not the easiest decision, but I felt that in order to successfully fulfill my musical desires I had take my music elsewhere. It was really just one of those decisions that I never planned to make, but the day finally came when it really was the only choice in order for me to continue pursuing my musical goals and dreams in a positive, forward-moving fashion.

I've already put together a home studio (2 Alesis ADAT's; a Mackie 24x8 mixing console; studio monitors; some high-end microphones; mix-down equipment; a drum kit; my keyboard rig; etc) in my house, and I have a list of people who I will be working with to record my stuff...with the eventual goal of a solo-release (dare I say by next fall?!?)...we'll see. I'm currently working with a great guitarist and bassist, as well as 2 vocalists (1 male, 1 female)...and yes, I might even sing some leads on my new material. We already have 5 tunes pretty much completed, and a folder of 15-20 more still to work on. I'm sure all this news comes as quite a surprise, but I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason, and the same goes for this situation.

Ray, Paul and Brett are continuing to write and work together. After hearing 4 of their new tunes it is evident to me that they are are taking quite a different musical approach then what I am planning to do. (Not that that is a bad thing, I can just honestly say I would not enjoy (or be musically satisfied) being a part of what they are writing.) I am going to continue pursuing my jazz/rock/fusion and classical musical leanings, but my solo stuff will incorporate all of those different styles freely, just as echolyn used to. I'll be playing with many new musicians on it, and at this point in time it looks like Paul and Tom might also both be a part of it. So there's the state of the union for now.

As for a final echolyn release...at this point we've been told by Sony that we are officially finished with them contractually (although we've yet to see anything in writing). We just finished mixing our final album last night. We're planning for our own release of an album to our fans of everything we did musically that never made it on any of our 4 albums. We have 2 songs that never made it on "as the world" ('Patchwork' and 'Another Day'), 3 new songs we wrote together since "as the world" ('The Currents of Me', '100 Diversions', and 'This Time Alone'), the Genesis tribute track "When the Sour Turns to Sweet" that never made it on the Magna Carta album (thanks again Sony!), an acoustic version of 'Meaning and the Moment', and 2 live tracks from ProgDay '95 ('A Little Nonsense' and 'As the World'). We are hoping to release this cd in late March. It will serve as a fitting end to echolyn and a final thank you to you, our fans, for the loyal and undying support. It will also serve as a calling card for each of our future projects...setting the stage for future releases from the different members.

I hope this has answered any lingering questions you might have. Please feel free to drop me a line anytime. I would be glad to chat via e-mail. In the meantime, I'll be writing and recording and keeping everyone informed as to a release date, when the time comes. Please pass this info on to any other echolyn fans you know...I promise my solo release will continue pushing the musical boundries, while opening up a whole new world of music to 'stretch' your ears to.

    Stay in touch, Chris Buzby

    Hola, friends.

About forwarding messages from other newsgroups where someone is putting DT down or like in that recent one, deliberately trying to insult us jammers, I say "screw it".

It's a sure thing that every once in a while we find someone who's flamebaiting or trying to start a fight w/ anyone within reach. Let's just leave them to find their flame wars elsewhere.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion or like in this particular case, ignorant attitude. We don't have to start mailbombing his inbox or anything. We're above that. Let's leave the poor dork alone.

Other thing. Why is it that I'm not getting answers to my recent sweepstakes question. I've just gotten a few and they were far off the target. Now, I'm asking again:

What is the DT connection in a song called

    GALAXY 500 ?????

The ones who get their answers right, qualify to sweepstakes, and the winner will receive some pretty rare DT stuff.

This is great news, i've been waiting for this since i read an interveiw in 1993 when Eric said that his new album was due out in the next six months. Looks like his perfectionism had something to do with the delay (after all it took three attempts with Ah Via Musicom before he was happy)

I first heard Musicom in 1990 when i was on holiday in Florida and was blown away as soon as i heard it.

Does anyone know if there are any bootleg CD's by EJ cos i've never seen him play live (living in the uk is not the best place to live if you want to see people like EJ).
