hello there. ironic that dreamnday, the undisputed poster boy for the jam is
unsubscribing. alas.
anyways, i have some business. i have some used (all in good shape) cd's that
i'd like to get rid of.
here are the cd's i have for sale. prices are negotiable, so there is no set
price. the average has been between 6-10 for a cd, unless they're something
special (imports or boots).
queensryche- the warning
alan parsons project- eve
symphonic music of yes
anacrusis- screams and whispers
the best of emerson, lake and palmer
higher learning soundtrack
guns n roses- use your illusion 2
fight- immrotal sin single (autographed!!!! this is kinda special)
the ultimate bbc collection- jimi hendrix 1967 (very weird import)
prince- an american in paris (86 boot, another import)
any questions about set lists or pricing, email me please, and not the jam.
thank you. again, there is nothing wrong at all with the cd's, they're all in
good shape, has hopefully messrs. bracken mcleod and rossy (psychocat) can
attest to. i just don't want these anymore, and i hope someone here might
want them. thanks a lot.

Just wondering why they chose the most obscure Rush songs. I rememeber
reading a while back that some songs on the tribute would be "la
villa...", "jacob's ladder", "the trees", and others. What happened to
that original plan of songs?

Damn! I've been thinking that exact same thing for a while now. I just
didn't know how to express it. I can really see DWD being performed as a
musical or an opera, like on a stage with actors and sets and stuff. How
cool would that be?

Obviously, I can't speak for the people making the CD, but it seems like a good idea to pick songs like these. If I have to hear yet another version of CttH, I might gag. Don't get me wrong - I love it (it's Rush, after all), but one studio version, two live versions, and a rendition at every single concert gets to be a bit much for what is predominantly a three-chord song. (IMHO)

For me, the perfect reunion would be without Steve Perry. The first Jounrey album I ever bought was Next. IMO it was an excellent LP. Then all of a sudden comes along in these pretty poka-dot shirts with the efeminate voice and I couldn't believe it was the same band! As time went on, I learned to like some of the Perry stuff, I even have the LP Captured. Tonight's the GC show at The Edge (Palo Alto, CA). All you Bay Area types should be at this show to let GC know that Metal Blade may not promote them, but they still kick ass. I've heard the new guitar player wasn't all that great, but it should still be a good show. Besides, it's ONLY $9!
That's more than enough from me. Time for Hits From The Bong.

Power 30..yes it's being cancelled and a new show is being brought in. It's supposed to focus, and I quote "loud and agressive music". That worries me, next you know I'll be watching the usless garbage like Pantera's last release which was the absolute shits. As long as they play Maiden every so often and the new host, or hostess is cool/babe material.
Savatage...I was thinking that too with the DWD being very much like QR's Mindcrime album. I understand the Les Miserables feel as well. It more reminds me of, the way classical music should really be :) I like takin classical peices and changing them to suit them for guitars etc...is cool, not just symphonies or a single organ. As I listen to, Not what it Seems, it feels like that song should be in a Disney Movie...it's fucking awsome...that or a broadway play. hey, maybe they'll make this the next Tommy.
WASP did that with the Crimson Idol Album, which ruled 100000 times over...there was supposed to be a movie made and also a book, I THINK a play as well but I don't know about that. I think they were going to do the same thing with Mindcrime, I know the book for sure.
Back on the subject of power 30 briefly, what do they mean by "weekly"...it better not mean 1 show a weak!
Mark

Green Manilishi (spelling?) I think that James could do a fantastic job singing it. As for Derek - well, I heard a rumor a long time ago that Fleetwood Mac originally did Green Manilishi, so there has to be room for keyboards in some capacity...

So that's why the vocals came out as they did...... My negative review of the AQ auditions do not mean that I don't like Arch's singing, on the contrary, in early Fates Warning stuff, his vocals really drive the songs, where otherwise the music comes off as totally cloning Iron Maiden.... partha

yes, the rush set list was atrocious. maybe in 20 years, a bunch of people will put on a dt tribute with nothing but tlf or o holy night.
to damon; the key sound in 600 (the beginning) is a guitar-like keyboard. he uses it in the beginning, and in his solo, too. it can't be an organ. "erotomania" has his distorted organ (what a bad pun!), and it's a little chunkier than the sound on 6. i know that kevin uses the following keys. korg dw8000, roland jv900, and korg dss1, and i think he used a roland d50 on i/w (maybe awake). i have a korg also, and there are some sounds on there that are the same or close to as he uses (for instance, that really great solo mono-lead sound). but i've searched and searched, and edited patches, but i can't find a sound (on the korg) that is anywhere near that sound he solos on scarred with. i wish i knew. thanks, damon- you can talk keys with me any day of the week. i expect more from you on this soon enough. by the way, although he does edit patches here and there, i don't think he makes new ones from scratch. i don't think he's very prolific in terms of patch creation. he definitely does edit though.
bissonette- i think he's a good drummer and all (the stuff with maynard is cool), but i didn't like what he did with satch at all. and though mover is another really great drummer, i would have killed to see manu katche playing with him live (actually, the whole band from his new album, cause they're all monsters). katche is AMAZING! one of my top 5. no one comes close, not even portnoy (not that i don't like him, he s actually top 5 too, but katche just goes crazy unlike anyone, really). sometimes, when i listen to him, i lose my sense of 1, but then he pulls you back and my brain is left crying and hating me for a day.
ok, enough. bye bye

If I'm not mistaken, the last song on _Escape_ is "Open Arms" which was definitely a radio hit, was the love song for the scene with the cab driver in _Heavy Metal_, and, strangely enough, is a decent song to practice the waltz. :)
