Kris, I agree in many ways. I propose that what everyone do that has a
narrow minded friend, put DT in the radio someday when they are not
around(but you know they are comming over), have it playing when they walk
in the room and when they ask who it is simply ask if they like it. When
the finally reply, then answer. I found the will work in some cases, yet
there are still those individuals that will believe one kind of music to be
    superior... Their loss.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here yet, but there's a Fates
Warning tab book out now. I just got mine today, and it kicks some
serious ass...I'm half a song in and I feel like I'm already three times
the musician I was before. Here's what it has:

    guardian
    silent cries
    through different eyes
    at fates hands
    nothing left to say
    eleventh hour
    point of view
    outside looking in
    face the fear
    monument

Reports on alt.fates-warning say it's a pretty good job (no mistakes found yet)
although I can't comment on that yet myself...

Anyway, it was $21.95. You can get it from music dispatch,
1-800-637-2852, and the catalog number is 02501262. Highly recommended...

Only problem is, I thought I heard on the newsgroup that it was supposed
to have quietus, which it doesn't (I don't know whether the original
poster made a mistake or I just read it wrong). So has anyone out there
transcribed quietus? (i'm interested mainly in the piano part at the end)

    Ugh .......

Well, my mailbox is clean, so replies to mail to be will be sped
up until I get lazy again. A few things to mention.....

Mindcrime.ax.com died today. HD crash. We lost about 15 posts becuase
of it. I have copies of all of them, but I am not gonna try and post
them all to the jam. If you think you may be one of the lucky
people who lost a post, email me and I will verify.

Dreamt.org accounts. There is no ritual. Trust me. You just have
to send me your 5 favorite DT bootlegs :) (well, I was kidding, but
that may be an idea :)

I think that's all. Will be catching up on the error mailbox this
    weekend.

Also, spoke with Ken. He said it may be a real bitch to make the list
subscribers only. I will think about this and make some decisions
once the error mailbox is all caught up.

Someone said this: >>>>>>>>>> >I just want to know if I'm not alone here. Does anyone else on the jam find >themselves with a group of narrow-minded people who all think DT "sucks"? >It's impossible to explain how good they are to people who can't except >something if it's just a little off beat or little different from MTV kind >of stuff. It's so frustrating! There's nothing I can say to these people >because they have no musical knowledge and if it doesn't sound like pearl >jam or oasis then it sucks. Does anyone else have musically narrow-minded >friends? It's okay if you don't like them, but don't say they suck. At >least respect them for their talent.<<<<< And someone else replied with this: >>>>Oh yeah! You're not alone my friend. I've got two particular friends in mind. They know nothing of music. One likes country and the other rap, which explains alot right off the bat. Neither could discern DT from Queensryche or Yes, and one thought Led Zep was DT. Talk about bad listening skills. <<<<<<<

And this is what I'm saying:

Okay. Fine. People are unfair to DT. Is it worth getting pissed about? Sometimes, yeah. I don't like narrowmindedness either.

What is this statement about country and rap? Is this person implying that people who like country and/or rap don't know anything about music? Steve Morse likes country and Mike Portnoy likes rap. They must not know anything about music!

Someone's musical taste has nothing to do with how much they know about music. People who like DT, Qeensryche, Yes, Rush, etc don't have to know anything about music either. Your friend likes country and slams DT. You like DT and you slam country music. Who's the narrowminded idiot now?

If you like Rush than you will love these guys, it's like seeing Rush in a bar. They will play anything you ask, yes even " I think I'm going bald ". If any L.I. jammers are interested in going let me know. I also have inside info that a certain brother of a certain member of DT will be there on Saturday night, so you can ask him all the questions you want.

To Samsonite: You and your girlfriend need to start hanging out around me more often. It's been a while since I've had a cheap thrill (and I hear she is pretty cheap...at least that's what she told me...) :)

To all of you who want dreamt.org accounts: You've gotta NEED one to have one. It isn't a measure of Ytsejam status (okay, I lied...it is), but what would be the point if everyone had one? Then NONE of us would be special. So just live with it. Besides, only DORKS need dreamt.org accounts. :)

To all of your CD players: /me chases you with a bucket of water and a baseball bat.

    To X: You rock.

To Skadz: You rock even more.

To Pat G.: The picture's in the mail...er...no it's not. Tomorrow.

To Trey: You rock even more than Skadz (Ytsejam sweatshirts kick some serious ass).

To me: Shut the Fuck Up!
