    Yo folks.

The recent trivia has progressed to the sweepstakes stage.
I received four correct answers to my question, which was:

WHAT'S THE DT CONNECTION IN A SONG CALLED "GALAXY 500" ?

..and the four qualified ones were:

Sean T.Gill, Kevin Madden, Steve Lehrfeld and Jeff Hayes.

...and the winner is.....(randomizing.......) my computer says
     the winner is....Sean T. Gill!

Congrats, man! Email me your smail add, and you'll get the
     prize!

The right answer is that GALAXY 500 is an instrumental by
Brad Gillis. Derek Sherinian has co-written the song and
plays the keyboards in it. The song can be found on "Guitar
     for Practicing Musicians" vol 2.

    Hi my ytsejamming friends!

Today I'd like to ask you a simple question:

Mike Backof brought me to the idea to build up a SUPERIOR-Newsletter.
I'd like to know now, if there are any persons who would be
    interested in such a thing.

I'd send a newsletter to the persons who want it every month or
so (depending on the number of news that are around).
In there will be the latest things that happened with the
band SUPERIOR and our music. At first,
there won't be BIG things in it but maybe, when the deals are
    signed, there will be more.

    So, is there any interest??

Please email me privately at basmer@med-rz.uni-sb.de

    Sorry for NDTC.

    LONG LIVE IRC!!! :)

    Bye.

    Bernd.

         Greetings fellow 'jammers!

If anyone gets the chance to see Joe Satriani on this tour, DO IT!!!

I was at Hammerjack's here in Baltimore last night. The show was
incredible! Even with Joe's shaved head! I don't think I need to extol
Joe's virtuosity to many here, but he's amazing live. Not to mention
Jonathan Mover and Stu Hamm (whose bass solo completely blew me away--and
         I'm a guitar player!)

You're exactly right about someone's musical tastes not having
anything to do with their musical knowledge. However, if you'd go back and
actually read the message you'd realize that I'm talking about two specific
people. And I used the phrase "two particular friends." No generalizations
appeared in that message except for the statement that many people consider
what's on MTV to be the be-all-end-all of music and anything that differs
from the MTV formula isn't worth listening to. That's IMO, as everything we
type is as I'm sure you know, but I'd think it's fairly close to a fact. I
do think, however, that rap has extrodinarily little to offer to those that
don't like repetitive, boomy bass and abrasive, repetitive lyrics. I also
agree that those who like QR, DT, etc dont' _have_ to know anything about
music, but I'd wager that the great majority knows the difference between a
riff and a lick, a tom and a snare, etc. Also, thanks for implying I'm a
"narrow minded idiot." Name calling is so mature. Jeeze... Try not to do
that; it makes you look like a fool. Take care...

check out Braindance. their 'fear itself' cd is excellent. the singer has
a deep voice; not growling, just real deep. but he's got a hell of a
range because he can sing high as well. check them out.

Hello! It's been awhile since I've been on this list. I've switced
jobs twice and moved to a different state since I was last on this list
    almost a year ago...

But anyways, I have finally found a new site to bring When Dream And
Web Unite back up (my Dream Theater web pages). The new site is
http://www.netwave.net/~felix/dt/dt.html. For those with pointers to
my old one (I noticed there are still many out there), please update
them to this new address. The web pages hadn't been updated for the
past year, so some of the information is lacking the new material (like
the discography), but I will be updating all of that in the next couple
    weeks.

    Dream on!

Well, it seems like my post was lost... luckily, I saved my post to disk.. heh.. now suffer... <inserting post> -- Hello, With regards to certain threads pertaining to "has listening to DT soured our taste for less 'sophisticated' music?" ... My personal response to that question is "yes"... Prior to becoming a DT fan, I would listen to such groups as GN'R and RATM (how's that for mainstream? heh).. However, when I started getting into DT, such simpler groups.. even Pink Floyd (!), that I had listened to for years.. simply just didn't have as much.. "energy".. as it seemed they did before DT.. When I forced myself to put on those non-DT albums I have, I noticed I began looking for the technical intracacies that DT is known for.. and I found very little, if any, satisfying qualities of the bands when I compared them to DT.. I now find myself spending the little money I get (I'm 15 and have no job.. heh) on DT stuff and other "heavy" groups like Marillion.. Finally, I have found a genre of music that satisfies me... As I continue to ramble on.. I know I always ask about Dominici.. but I am intrigued by this man.. (gee, that sounded good..) I find that more often than not, I always have WDADU in the disc changer.. (btw - got my "One Way" copy of WDADU today.. cheap bastards didn't even put the lyrics in)... Anyways, does anyone know if there other recordings with him on it? I mean, other albums by other bands with him as the vocalist? Fellow Ytsejammers, enlighten me with your knowledge! (heh) Well.. now that I have wasted your time, I will end it here... The YtseLamer, Dan (btw - what's the status of IRC.DREAMT.ORG? I get ping timeouts all the time..) --

Just look at it this way: Right now DT fans are a sorta elite, really cool bunch of people. If all these narrowminded people suddenly converted, you might just find yourself with people like in the Queensryche Usenet group... the kind of person that can respect Queensryche as one of the greatest bands of all time, yet incessantly bash DT for things like their lyrics and self-indulgence. Do we really want every schmuck on the street wearing a DT shirt?

Well said, E-man... very valid points. I still think *you* are a goober for liking country, but you'd probably make fun of some of my musical tastes. As long as we're all willing to admit that music is a personal thing, and what inspires one person to greatness may make another hurl his praises to the porcelain goddess.

    This sounds way too cool.

As for 6:00, I've listened to the song more times than humanity will allow me to count, and I've found the sound to be the voice of a being that is hinted to be God, but not said to be. I could be way off, but I've read all the lyrics from the album... All of them do this hinting about "God" which really surprizes me. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
