Well, I too was one of the unlucky ones whose message didn't get through. So
here it is again (I think some of you will be glad I reposted it).

Ok, Ok. I have to give in. With all this talk about Eric Johnson lately, I
must tell all of you fans that I have two concerts of his on videotape. They
are both kinda old and are broadcasts of a show called "Austin City Limits."
The first was before Ah Via Musicom and the second was after, so that gives you
an idea of what's on them. Oh, by the way, they both rock.

I am willing to make dubs for people, but for some reason I am anticipating the
interest to be rather high. If the interest _is_ too high, I might come up
with a mini-dubbing tree a la Brian Cox. I also may wait to do the dubbing
until I can get better copies from a friend (mine are in the C+ range).

So anyway, just e-mail me (srdaugz2@ulkyvm.louisville.edu) if you're interested
    and we'll work something out.

    See ya,
       Scott Daugherty

    >>anything about music either. Your friend likes country and slams DT.
    >>You like DT and you slam country music. Who's the narrowminded idiot now?

    >This has to be one of the most intelligent comments made yet. I listent to

    >progressive metal, thrash metal, techno, speed metal, and the list still
    >continues. Is this saying that I'm some psychomusicmaniac??

Yes, it's very valid, but it didn't pertain to the original poster's
(me) message. I was speaking of two specific people and not making
generalizations. Apparently neither of you actually read my message...

Also, these statements only apply if the person has little
experience with different genres and refuses to try them out - ie, closed
mindedness. I grew up in Georgia, a major nesting place for country and now
a haven for rap and alternative. I was just introduced to DT about 2 years
ago but before then had been bombarded with country, rap and pop. I've
tried these kinds of music and have given them years of listening, and have
decided that the kind of music we discuss here is vastly superior to the MTV
type music that's so popular now. It's assinine to call me closed minded
w/o knowing me. I can call my friends, and those are the only people I'm
talking about, closed minded b/c I know they've 1) never listened to the
music and thus have no experience and 2) refuse to try the music. You guys
need to think before you write slams at someone... Sheesh...

Is it me or does W.F.O. have some of the best, crunchiest guitar
riffs ever, ESPECIALLY W.F.O The question I have is, is the album
"Horrorscope" worth getting?? Does it have some of the intense riffing? as
W.F.O.? I just think they are underrated as a band. They just seem different
compared to most speed metal these days...

I have a question about cd quality. I know that analog tapes diminish in
sound quality the more you listen to the and the older they are. Does
the same thing happen to cds? Originally, it wasnt supposed to happen
but i've that is does lately. I noticed that my origianl Awake cd doesnt
sound as good as the Japanese version that i just bought about a month
ago. The Japanese version sounds much clearer. I dont think it could be
the result of manufacturing. Or could it be?

This is just what i heard recently. Someone was argueing that gold cds
retain their sound quality better than normal cds. They argued the
reason being, the iron or aluminum that is the reflective surface of the
cd gets oxidized as the cd ages. The gold cds were said to last longer
becuase it take gold a longer amount of time to "rust" than the other
    materials.

I dont understand how this is possible since the reflextive surface is
coated with plastic and other stuff. Can someone please clarify this for
me? And can someone PLEASE give me the URL to Magna Carta? I've done
web searches and cannot find it. I had a bookmark to it but recently
reformatted my hard drive and lost it. Anyone?

I had this really weird dream which had dreamt a while ago and forgot about
it, but after reading the most recent dream post I remembered it. I was
hearing 'Voices' and when it got the part where Prix-mo talks, JL spoke
intstead w/ this really annoying voice... I wonder why everytime i dream
about DT, JL always ends up looking bad, when I think he's one of the most
awesome singers in the world. Oh well, it goes to show you.. ooops, that's
    Ben's line:)

I checked CD's from the library, and for some odd reason I thought I should
share what I think abot them w/ you all:

Tori Amos- Little Earthquakes: I finally got around to listening to her, and
when can I say? It's great music, nothing more, nothing less, just great music.

    R. Fripp & The League of Crafty Guitarists- Show of Hands: It's Fripp. what
    more can you say?

Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe: Yes - Squire= New Age:) actually I haven't
really listened to this one yet, so my opinion doesn't count.

John Scofield/Pat Matheney- I can see your House From Here: great stuff.

Miles Davis- Bitches Brew: Didn't like it at all... is all his stuff like this?

I noticed somebody mentioned Marillion being heavy... well I guess they
changed their style quite drastically... I got Brave and it's lack of
heaviness is what hasn't let me listen to this CD completely...BTW... is
their greatest hits cd any good?

Hey Ben, doesn't the creative process suck when you don't have any
creativity in you? That's the point where I'm at...

You guys want a serious adrenaline rush? Read 'Anthem' by Ayn Rand and then
listen to "I Am I" by QR... dAAAAAAAAAAMNNNN!! what a rush:)

You know, this brings up an interesting point (hopefully). Most of the
music that is liked by teenagers, present company excluded, is composed
and played by dudes ten, fifteen years older than them. These kids
(I use the term to describe attitude, more than anything) are snared
hook, line, and sinker by the image/attitude/music of people that don't
even belong to the same generation. The relationship is reflexive; the
artists adopt what is perceived to be the dress/attitudes of the younger
generation, which *reinforces* the false assumption of the masses that
their ideas are original (does that make sense?). People put down DT
because they think that they perpetuate the dress and attitudes of the
80s. The thing is, DT really doesn't (and so what if they do? they grew
up during that time) to the extent of which they are accused (most
of those idiots were sucking Enfamil during that time anyway). Dream
Theater transcends the trend to which I refer. That is integrity.

I think that was the time I saw him before last month (Flying in a Blue
Dream tour?). Interestingly, Eric Johnson opened for him! He was the only
opening act I've seen where the *whole crowd* gave a standing ovation at
the end of the set. He blew Satch off the stage. It dissapointed me so
much that I refused to go see him on The Extremist tour (and because
Mover and Hamm weren't backing him). Having seen Satch put on an outstanding
show last month, I now conclude that he was having a bad night in '90.
