    >(smiley face)

i was wondering if anyone would mention that, but actually he does alot
of the guitar work for stp if i'm not wrong? I always considered Dean
there for playing guitar rob wrote while rob takes bass though i'm no

have said kurt cocaine. oh wait... cobain... ahh skrew it, same dif.

    >Does Dream Theater have a fan club where you can order their shirts?
    >I'm looking for an ACOS or Awake shirt.

I guess the third time *isn't* a charm.

Hey Frank, pal, you're sending it to the wrong address. You are

    Hey Pal,

You're posting this to the jam, not Frank Clark! If you want Frank to
read it then I suggest you try:

To: FDDC08F@prodigy.com (MR FRANK A CLARK)
    From: c675311@showme.missouri.edu

and then include your message as you posted to the jam and then he'll

It's all a matter of music taste whether or not you can stand
Blitz's voice or not. Overkill just isn't Overkill without that vioce.
The way I've seen it people who can stand old Savatage vocals can stand
    Blitz's and people that can't stand Savatage's can't stand Overkill's either.

As for DT content.....um.......who else thinks Derek should grow his hair

I just went to the Bonaire page like someone mentioned www.bonaire.com
and you can get 2 cds for 18.95 (for US residents).

I am a little weary on Ivanhoe so I got Threshold's Psycadelicatesen and
    John Wetton's Battlelines.

Hopefully this was done securely (although it was unsecure)....

Just wondering how many other CIS majors are out there? Or at least people
taking programming classes. It would be cool (if we all had time) to do a
better DT multimedia prmo program than the one that EastWest did. We
probably have the talent. As for me, I was up all last night working on my
Operating Systems class, implementing locks and condition variables to
protect shared resources between multiple threads. Not too hard, all in all.

That's true, but if you meet some hot babe on the street (OK, or a friend) and she
asks you for your e-mail address (haven't you heard? Phone #'s are out! E-mail is in!
:) which do you think he/she'd have more chance of remembering:
    borlangw@dcs.gla.ac.uk or gb@dreamt.org, for example? I got a dreamt.org e-mail
address because 1) It's a little easier to remember, 2) My other e-mail address is
emc@caribe.net and EMC is my dad's initials, and 3) Who knows, maybe I'll be able to
let someone know about DT thru my e-mail address (like on IRC or something).

CD's CAN diminish with age, but it isn't any kind of physical contact that does it. Your friend was right, over time, the surface of the CDs do oxidize. You can buy special inserts to put into your CD cases to prevent this from happening. However, the oxidation problem isn't too bad, and shouldn't cause problems for many years. One reason that your Japanese CD may sound better is because Japanese CD's are generally of higher quality. Your American Awake probably isn't bad, your Japanese one is probably just making it SOUND bad.

Also, as far as CD's just being 1's and 0's, that's TRUE, they start that way, but a CD is an optical medium, not a digital one. A CD works in much the same way as an old vinyl album. The laser in the CD player reads the pits and grooves in the CD that are burned in the surface when the CD is made originally. It responds to the depth and width of the pit and grooves, and THEN the information is translated back to digital, and then converted back to analog before it leaves the CD player and hits your cables.

A re-recordable optical medium, such as minidiscs and CDRs have recorders with TWO lasers, one that burns away the original information, and one that writes the new stuff. According to the manufacturers, this continual burning (300 degrees F) and reburning doesn't hurt the CD or minidisc quality, but that's just the manufacturers telling you that.

Anyway, I work with all sorts of recording media a lot, and I could probably find all sorts of cool documents to prove the above, if needed.

Sorry this was so long, but I wanted to try to clear everything up and save space on future arguments. <grin>

That entire soundtrack is done with a keyboard, not just the bass. I used to think it was a real bass until I fiddled with the "bass" setting on a friend's Yamaha that sounded suspiciously like the one on Seinfeld. Then it dawned on me how near-impossible it would be to get that "Seinfeld sound" on real, metal, fat, wound bass strings.

Yes I watch Seinfeld. And in light of all the recent out-of-the-closet admittings to what one likes on this mailing list, I LIKE SEINFELD!! Anyone notice that the English clothing salesman from last week was the same guy from the "Sponge-Worthy" episode, with different hair and an accent? Leave it to NBC, crafty devils...just wish they'd stop re-hashing that "did I say that out loud?" line...

I can't really put arrows on this without it wrapping all over the place:

Did anyone else attend that monster organ concert? The last person who played at the Toledo concert was this Beatnik-Mad Scientist lady dressed in black, except for a bright red scarf tossed over her shoulder. I hope I don't look like that when I get old and screwed up. She sure did crank out those low notes. The whole building shook. Damn I'd love that kind of power.

hi all, i'm the one who started this whole narrow-minded listeners thingy and i didn't expect people to go off on this much. i was just trying to say that i hate it when people say DT "sucks". i don't think you should say anybody sucks because it's all a matter of favorites and certain tastes. once i met this guy who plays guitar and i asked him if he liked DT, he said no, but i know they're really good musicians, i'm just not into that kind of stuff. that just feels so much better than the response of: no, they suck! do you get what i'm saying here? ok, that's enough of that. i'll talk to you cats later.

    Hey guys,

Well, My web page is closing down, the school is losing its server, actually, the person who runs it is going home for the summer, so, therefor, no access. To you guys, this means that the LONG list of Ytsejam web pages I have collected can't be acces through my page, I will be getting my own page somewhere else very soon, don't ask when though. If you want, I WILL post it to the list BUT I will NOT take the time to take out all the html junk, I think we can all guess where the adress is.

So, email me personally or whatever if you want the list, the page will be up still this weekend.
