    Dear jammers,

Hey there! Just wanted to share a brief DT encounter I experienced
today. I was driving in my neighborhood (Glen Head, Long Island), and I
saw someone standing in front of Lickity Splits (I think it was there,
near the Glen HEad Post Office) and he was wearing one of Trey's black
Dream Theater t-shirts! Pretty cool, didn't know who the guy was but
it's cool that there are other ytsejammers in my neighborhood. TTYL!

    Yours,
    Jeff =)

I don't know if I was clear on this question so I am going to try again.
Does anyone find it funny at all that 'Suite for Everyman' seems to be
about never selling out, never 'selling for the sake of sales'. And
after they released StB, they signed with SONY. Given in context with
full grasp of the lyrics and song, does anyone else find this funny,
ironic, scary? Do get me wrong I am the biggest echolyn fan in Delaware
(tm), but I just thought that really was wierd.

Something just told me this was going to happen. I was thinking about it
    early today, I'm so excited!!!

I don't know about this. A little while ago, the band was selling a limited
edition of StB itself. It was just a plain black CD in a cardboard sleeve.
It came with The Gardener's Guide, with all the lyrics and stuff, but no
art or anything. I sent my money to Bridge (their management-not Sony
affiliated). It was kinda cool, like a bootleg direct from the band to
fuck the record company. So maybe they're making some money on this deal,
    too.

It is a llittle wierd, but I think even with Sony being the huge pricks
they were, echolyn didn't really sell out. Just because you are on a major
label doesn't mean you have to compromise artistically. _as the world_ is
hardly a straight forward pop/rock album, after all.

    Just a thought.

Well, ... if it works for you, that's fine. I cannot see myself ever going
back to cheaper synths, unless they are used analog synths. The low-end synth
market just doesn't offer me what I want. Yes, I look down on lower-enmd
synths, call me a snob, I don't care. But, if it's what you want, if it's all
you can afford, and it does the job you want it to do and it makes you
ahappy, then I am happy for you.

    Hi all,

Well I just got back from opening day of Six Flags Great America. Anyway,
while there, I wore my Awake T-shirt (band photo with Majesty symbol over it
on the front). During lunch (in the parking lot - we brought our own food)
some guy drove by and asked me where I got the shirt; I didn't get a chance to
say much, but it was cool to run into another DT fan. No less than 10 minutes
later, some other guy walks by wearing an I&W shirt that had the band photo on
the front - I told the guy that he's got good taste in music, as I pointed to
my shirt and I got the thumbs up from him.

Okay, so maybe this post is a waste of bandwidth, but I thought it was cool
and figured that you all could appreciate it. BTW, if any of you *were* at
Great America on April 21, I'd be curious to know if it was you that I spoke
    to briefly.

That Merlo guy posted that the more cds you sell, the better musicians you must be.

I guess that means he thinks DT sucks and have no talent since they will never come close to outselling the likes of Green Day (all songs sound the same) and others...

The main jist of my post was that since most people on the Jam are into progressive/close to progressive music, then they need to go out and support these bands. So go see Kansas/Styx and Boston/Cheap Trick.

Metal/hard rock groups also need to be supported. If there is no support then mainstream alternative will be the only thing left.

Think about it, how many metal/hard rock bands are touring this summer? KISS, is about all I can think of...

Have any jammers seen Tori Amos on her current tour?

I am just wondering what to expect. I've never seen her. I am not sure how much of a fan I am of her. (My fiancee is taking me).

Will any jammers be at the DC show (2nd of 3) on Saturday the 27th?
