I was under the impression that WDATU was "Today" not "Time" and the
person who put that was wrong. If in doubt check it out on the Lifting
Shadows web page as Mike has his CD updates there.
Also, I noticed someone mentioning a YAMAHA PSR-150. I assume this
is a earlier version of the PSR-310 which I have got. They do have their
    limitations but are really good.
Rudy, does yours have the silly sound effects?

Finally, I hope I didn't miss much these last 4 weeks as I had no
time to read through all the jams. Someone fill me in if there is
    anything really worth knowing.

            All the best

Congratulations Bafu ! You must be the luckiest sonavabitch
on the Jam... 95 posts -> 21 endings. Two out of every nine
Bafu-posts end up at the end of the Jam... How do U do that?

    My program can now generate:
    * Most frequent posters lists
    * Most frequent endings lists
    * Domainlists with the # of people in it + total # of posts
(either sorted on # of people or # of posts)

Any suggestions for other lists ? :-)

I too got a cool dreamt.org address, recently (Thanks Skadz!)...
Now I'd like to send messages from it, but I don't know how.
Does anyone know how to go about that, using Microsoft Exchange
(Windows '95) ? I won't be using it to post the jam, however,
'cause that'll ruin my chances of ever making it to the MFP top-10 ;-)

    >As I see it, an underlying problem people have with DT (and prog in
    >general, but let's not go there) is that there's no element of rebellion.

Here's an example of rebellion coming from DT: "I understand mine's a risky
plan and your system can't miss, but is security after all a cause or
    symptom of happiness?"

I can't think of any other examples, if there are any, but I think that if
DT is gonna portray rebellion, they'll do it in a more sophisticated way.

can you imagine JLB singing "knee-down in the system's shit" :)

Then again, don't you think DT and prog bands are the truly rebellious ones
since they are going against the alternative trends by being skilled at
their instruments and writing long complex songs? Just a thought. As Scott
Ian says, MTV is giving today's kids a 'packaged rebellion' w/ this whole
    alternative thing.

    Just a thought:)

I didn't say it *was* in the same category as Roland. I just said that for
the price I was rather impressed. Whenever I have a couple thousand bucks
lying around I will be glad (VERY glad) to buy a 'real' synthesizer. But
for now that's all I can afford, and as long as I can make music w/ it, I'm
    content.

Oh, and BTW, it *is* velocity sensitive...

    >This brings me to a good question. why do some cheap toys called Casio
    >keyboards actually have the gall to put MIDI ports on the back of their cheap

I got mine simply to use it w/ my computer. Again, I couldn't afford
anything better, so that's what I'm stuck w/. I mean if those 'toys' just
came w/ there shitty sounds, and lame drum beats, I wouldn't even bother w/
    them.

Wow!!!!!! What a show. Mojoman, Its, and me went to see them with
a bunch of other friends and they did not disappoint. They played
tunes like yes just for you D-Man " the digital man" Natural science,
Afterimage, Fly by night, By tor, The Camera eye and other classics.
They played two long sets and one hell of a drum solo. Sorry you
couldn't make it Wedge, and Damon. If you live in NYC, L.I. or N.J.
and you like Rush, keep your eyes and ears peeled for upcoming dates.

Mojoman, and Its, what do you think that guy was on?

OK, just a few pieces of news to share with all of you.

I just got confirmation on DT's album producer: there is none. Yet. This is just in the effort of "rumour control". They have indeed contacted Peter Collins, nothing solid on whether he'll produce is known yet, even to them. They're just cutting demos. Those Jammers in Europe who go to Mike and John's drum and guitar clinics have already heard Raise the Knife and Carnival of Clams (working title) and they're pretty interesting so far.

Once again, just to re-iterate in case anyone missed the last Jam, James and Karen LaBrie have a 6lb, 10oz baby girl named Chloe Nadia keeping them busy these days. She was both 4/10/96... hmmm, April 10th, just 20 days before my own birthday. She's in good company. :) Many congrats from the Jam.

Mr. Anthony Ferrari, please try to contact me voice if you can, at 602-777-0501. All my e-mail replies to you bounce undelivered, and I'm tired of getting repeated mails from you insisting that I'm refusing to reply!!

WDADU vs. WDATU. I've been watching this thread, sort of wondering where I ought to jump in, and I 'd better do that now, to stave off confusion. WDADU was DT's first album, with Charlie on vocals. WDATU is a special CD I put together last winter that features the same songs performed live with James LaBrie at the helm. Check out the Lifting Shadows website or e-mail me personally for a CD update on what's on all of them and how to get 'em. WDATU is still available in limited quantities.

Final note: I've sold three "cases" of special limited edition CDs, and I'm going to break down the remaining cases into tens, so that people who just want to buy for a few friends can do so. Again, there is a discount on each CD worked into the price here. I can help you if you'd like to re-sell my CD in your local area with these cases that discount the buying price. Here's what I have:

    Case assortment "D" - 2 Available - $200

    When Dream And Today Unite x 3 Antiquities x 2 Cygnus x 4 Acoustic Dreams x 1

    Case assortment "E" - 2 Available - $175

    When Dream And Today Unite x 4 Antiquities x 2 Cygnus x 4

Sorry, but the Subconscious case, one of the AD cases, and one of the regular ones from before have been sold. I bought another AD to include within the second AD case here. So what I have available is what you see above.

Oh yes, a clarification: the members of the list will ALWAYS have the first opportunity to buy my released CDs, over the course of a few months, before I put together cases. I can barely sell any cases with AQ in them, because of the limited quantity remaining.

    Take care all!

    MTFBWY! Mike Bahr, durnik@indirect.com/mikebahr@dreamt.org

"Crash" is scheduled for an April 30 release. There is a concert/release party on Tuesday, April 30th in Richmond, VA at The Classic Amphitheatre: however, tickets went on sale Saturday, April 6th.

I got my StB from CdTreasures when I went home over the weekend. At first I was like I don't know about this, but when I put it in the disc player my mind was set to ease. That cd is soooooo good, it's great to have finally updated that tape Brett gave me last summer (I can't say that enough I love it when you interact with neat people).

I was think about the cd itself. And I know most of you don't care but it is a cd by a band who has very little money, as opposed to DT who lives comfortably without having to work other jobs. I was thinking, "Hey echolyn is getting no money from this cd and this guy is selling a ton of them". But I kind of put my thoughts to ease when I relzied echolyn would want the cd to be out there and that there is nothing they can do to get it out there because SONY (the assholes) have the rights to the cd (as well as 'debut'). So I guess I can look at it in the way that SONY isn't making any money off of this either, so that may be a good thing.

The kicker in this thig with me getting my StB cd this weekend is that I have the case here at school with me now, and I left this cd at home in my sister's cd player, talk about sucking. :(

**DT Content** The RHCP thing, I know Mike didn't say in that video anything about them being this major influence. He did admire the grafitti, as well as the band. But if your looking at that part of the tape he was talking about the Beatles being this major part of his life. And of course if you watch more of the tape you get to seea huge influence of his ALAN WHITE!! Sorry. :)

**Yes Content** Jon Anderson will be on QVC on Monday, when I don't know, for what, to promote some enivormental cd. Check it out.

later... thought welcome on the echolyn thing...

    oh yeah,

Anybody every fine it really strange about 'Suite' being about selling out,'selling just for the sake of sales', 'selling to those who want to buy', and in a way condeming all of this, but in effect when echolyn singed to SONY thats what they did. It kind of spooked me out, thoughts?
