         Hello all,

Interesting story: We had an outdoors concert thingy here last
saturday. (Buffalo Toms headlined, with Jewel, and some other bands)
Anyway, the band that opened up was called Shadowlands. Anyone heard of
them? They're from Pennsylvania somewhere. They were allright. Nothing
special, they played mostly originals and Ozzy's Perry Mason. Anyways,
interesting part of the story: They decided to cut they're performance
short due to time constraints . . . after the show, my friend picked up one
of their flyers, and low and behold, they were going to end with Pull Me
Under. Needless to say, we were a little dissapointed. Also, the flyer
had the band members bios on it, and the rythm guittarist went to Berkeley .
. . forgot her name, but thought it was interesting.

On another note. Anyone know where the samples are from in the demo
version of ACOS on the wonderful Antiquities? I swear, the one where the
guy says, "Do you know what Carpe Diem is . . . " sounds like Steve
    Martin. I don't know . . . any ideas?

          That's all, goodbye

                     Brian Anderson

Yes, I prefer DT's music over Ozzy's (just), but Ozzy's gig was just so
    much damn fun!

You will piss yourself laughing at the video intro tape :-) The guy
    is wonderful!

Also, I had heard that Alice In Chains was going to be there. Is this
true, or did my source get AIC confused with Alice Copper (is he really

    Jammers,

    >>Why does the actual Lie single CD say that the CD was made in Germany, yet the CD inlay says that it is the first ever UK release? I don't know if this has been asked or answered yet, but I noticed it and was curious.<<

I had asked this question before, but got no answer, so I thought I would ask it again. The place on the Lie single that says Germany is on the "music" printed (sorry for lack of terminology) side; it is the numbers that are around the "hole" of the CD? I was told this by someone who KNOWS what those numbers mean. Was he right?

    Thanks, Ryan Benedict

official dt page? who's! there are two books published by warner music which have the complete tab for dt's albums Awake and Images & Words. Ihave both, and i'd say they are (for the most part) accurate. There are some glaring errors in the I&W book, but if you are able to play DT music, then i figure you'll also be smart enough to realize which parts are wrong. ;)

itchy how'd your dog get so popular all o the sudden?

    >WDATU-What the hell is this? Last time I checked the name of the CD is >"When Dream and Day Unite". I don't see a T in the title of that disc.

must we go thru this AGAIN? The T comes from TOday which was a cd made by mike bahr, early DT songs from WDADU with James L doing vocals, plus a few extras. there.

Ozzy rocks, i saw him last oct. ggggreat show! The only show that kicked more ass then ozzy was Ted Nuge, hes one crazy motherfucker live!!! wow, he cranks it higher than anyone, if you think you've heard ted by hearing cat scratch fever, then ha! my personal favorite live was Kiss My Ass, what a great song "hey courtney love i got your hole right here" haha! Ted's the man!

    >I honestly don't give two flying shits

hahaa! that's one for the quotebook

    >>>>>>I was just told that when the most recent Cinderalla and Dokken albums came out and they inquired into the possibility of air play on MTV they were told by MTV's execs not to even bother to make the video 'cuz they would not play it. Can you believe this shit? MTV is taking exposure and money away from established, talented bands and giving it to often talentless acts that wont' be around in 5 years, much less be anything one might call a "classic." The bands that aren't getting airplay have so much to offer. The popular "music" might have sometihng to offer, but they all offer the same thing, repeatedly, in MTV's rotation. I've heard Much Music is a bit better, but jeeze, what a shame. Ok, off the box, I'm going back to sulk now. :)<<<<<<<

damn, that pisses me off, i've heard about that though, but ya know what, those stupid fans of theirs wont even care about those bands either in a few years because they're so closed minded. as yngwie put it - "the mcdonalds mtv generation" or something of that matter. DT and other bands fans will stick with em, because we know what we like. Winger used to do so much shit for mtv its not funny, and mtv just goes behined their back and rips the shit out of them. hell, winger even went to mtv and said "why are you doing this?!" but its no matter to mtv, and whatever beavis and butthead say is what everyone will say, do you think without them there to tear up old 80s metal it would be so despised? ugh.

    >While on the subject of DOOM...my roomate and I put together a sound >wad based on the Princess Bride movie....it's totally awesome (air >guitar!) If anyone wants a copy, let me know and we can work it out...

i remember that flick! what a great movie! true classic man.

If you think that's bad, one of the nearby Musicland stores spells Yngwie Malmsteen as Yngvie Malmstein ^^^ ^^^^^ I mean, come on, his name is on the damn cd, you could at look at what you put on the rack. At least theatre is a viable spelling

Jeffrey Cline, I'm probably the eighteith person to post this, but the acronym refers to a Mike Bahr CD by the name of When Dream and Today Unite, in which James performs all of the songs from WDADU live. (I think.) Anyway, if you want anymore details, talk to Mike.

Everyone, In addition, someone posted about a NetCentral room set up for jammers. I've been there for every damn day for weeks and I haven't found anyone there! If anyone wants to talk to me, write me a time to be on, and I'll meet you there. If you don't know what I am talking about, its a chat room you can access through the internet. Unlike the IRC, there is no software to download, and no ridiculous problems to deal with getting into it. (As you can see, I still haven't gotten the damn thing to work.) I don't know the address off the top of my head, but just do a search for NetCentral, and enter the live chat, then a private room by the name of Dream Theater. If there is no one there, check out the music hall. I've met a bunch of really cool people there. Anyway, as long as you have net software, you are in. If you can't find it (which shouldn't be a problem), e-mail me and I'll write you with the address.

oh yeah, Mike Bahr- Thank you for Antiquities. It was a very impressive job. I recommend it.

    Hello Jammers,

Andrew Miller posted part of the lyrics to "Those That Want to Buy":

In The Gardiner's Guide (includes lyrics and comments by the band) (note that the comments were before they got signed, if you read them all, Chris and Tom seem to be the ones most adament about "not selling out")

Tom: "Our promise to echolyn fans... we have never and will never compromise a song. We will never put out a song that we ourselves are not totally into, regardless of current musical trends. (Remember when Kiss put out their disco hit "I Was Made For Lovin' You")"

That is from the horses mouth. I remember right after they got the record deal, I talked to Chris and he was psyched that Sony had told them initially not to change what they were doing musically, record the album you want to play, and "as the world" is the result. I don't know if this was a ploy on the record company's part, or when the record company got the album, they didn't see $$$$$$. Who knows, I don't think that echolyn sold out, as the world would sound similar if it was made on the Bridge Records label like Suffocating and the S/T album, the production would just be weaker due to budget constraints.

    Later,

    Mike
