I wrote to this cocksucker privately, but since he had the balls to post this
to the Jam, I figured I'd write him a public message. You, sir, are
completely fucking wrong. If I wanted shit from you, buddy I'd squeeze your
empty fucking head. You know music about as much as I know driving. Who the
fuck do you think you are, anyway? I didn't ask for your advice, and
especially in that tone, young man. I have a good ear, I can hear this shit
much better than you can. I don't care what the hell you know. You probably
have it on tape, which is never tuned right to a synthesizer because it has
to ... oh who cares, yo wouldn't understand it. You can take your response,
buddy and stick it up your own ass without any lubrication. I have been
playing my instrumetn for 18 years, and I take care to learn things exactly.
So take your songbook that is inaccurate and flush that along with your
useless keyboard ger down the toilet. With that attitude, you wasted your
money on a setup, sell it and buy what is at your level, a cheap toy. Fuck
    off and die, prick.

    Message-ID: <3181963C.6AC4@ee.net>

I just wanted to post a quick blast on the DT vs QR thing:

First of all, this is ALL IN MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION!

    1. IMHO if you LOVE DT, but you hate QR, then you are missing the point of progressive
    rock big time!

    2. IMHO if you LOVE QR, but you hate DT, then you are missing the point of progressive
    rock big time!

    3. IMHO if you would rather pit the two bands against each other, rather than enjoying
and appreciating thier similarities and differences, then you need to re-evaluate WHY
you listen to music at all!

    4. IMHO if you REALLY know what progressive music is about, then you would see that BOTH
QR and DT contain all of the elements that a progressive fan would look for. Heavy
sounds and lighter sounds, deep subconcious stimulating lyrics, evolution from album to
album, writing without compromising their own musical beliefs and craft, and absolutely
    killer playing and togetherness.

Can you imagine what both bands would think if they were online and reading this
childish squabble over them as if they were WWF wrestling personalities??? DUH!

Again, just my OWN HUMBLE OPINION. Thank you for the time....

    Message-ID: <Pine.3.89.9604261607.A5512-0100000@uclink.berkeley.edu>

I just read through 5 Jams and I must say I was surprised at the amount
of opposition to the idea of DT releasing everything they've got
written. I guess I just wanted to take a moment to go around and review
some of the arguments against a 2-CD set and respond. Here goes:

    1) "We'll be overworking the band members, they won't start touring for
    another year, etc...."
To the first part, I say this: if you're really in love with what you're
doing for a living, the best thing to do is work your ass off at that
livelihood and excel at it. This goes for any profession. JP (who BTW
started this 2-CD fever) lives by this policy, as far as I can tell.
We've all heard about the obscene amounts of time he spends practicing on
the guitar, and it's evident from his solos that he's some kinda
composing whiz as well. Translation: he's damn good, and he's always
working on getting better. It wouldn't surprise me if the other DT
members subscribe to a similar philosophy. Fact is, I would *expect*
them to be willing to take the time (no pun intended) to spend all kinds
of time composing, rehearsing, and re-working the songs that would show
up on such a 2-CD set. As for touring, I'd rather wait an additional
month or two for a tour to start than forget about the stuff they cut
out in the studio. This brings me to:

    2) "If they release one CD, they can edit out all the slop, and we'll be
    left with quality material."
What slop? Just because DT cuts something from an album at editing time
doesn't mean that what they're cutting is garbage. I'm willing to bet
that the stuff they've cut from their albums is stuff we'd love to hear
(e.g. ACoS which was cut from I&W before release, and at one time, looked
like it might never be released).
    3) "The stuff that gets cut will show up on bootlegs or on B-sides."
For one thing, the stuff on bootlegs won't have a sound quality to match
a studio recording. I listen very carefully to the drums AND the
percussion, so this is important to me. As for B-sides, well, I wanna
collect as much DT stuff as possible. I'd rather get the 2-CD set and
whatever DT cuts from THAT can show up on the B-sides and I'll be a happy
man:). I mean, there's gonna be no end to the kind of stuff they can put
on B-sides, but there are a limited # of B-sides. So I say, let DT
release as much as the record company allows 'em to (hopefully 2 CDs!), and
let the rest show up "somewhere else".

    4) "Putting out a 2-CD set would be a bad marketing move for DT right now."
There is something to this argument, and I agree that it would be a
better idea to release the 2 CD's separately but at the same time (like
GnR's Use Your Illusion). I can't see ANYTHING about this that would
    hurt DT's marketability.

    5) "Wouldn't DT think it obnoxious of this list to once again place
demands like we did for ACos?"
Here's a radical opinion: I think DT was DELIGHTED that they got all
this demand for ACoS. Think of how much time they spent composing,
rehearsing, and re-working it. What would they be thinking about it if
it had NEVER been released? They'd be thinking, "What a
damn shame! We put all this time into this one song and we never got to
release it!!!" Think of it this way: if you put a lot of time into
creating something, and you wanted to show it to everyone, wouldn't
you be elated if everyone suddenly demanded to see it? I certainly would!
And I imagine DT felt the same way when they saw the demands people were
making to get ACoS released. This time around, though, things would be
different. Instead of clamoring to hear a well-known track that's only
been played a few times live, people would be clamoring to hear MORE of
DT's music, more than can be put on one CD. I can't think of a higher
compliment to pay to the band.

Lastly, I put forth the argument that (altho I'm not in band myself), I
would think that DT would be really glad to hear that its fans have a
strong interest in ALL their compositions, and not just "legendary"
    tracks like ACoS.

Although given Ibanez's last post, this 2-CD thing is prob'ly dead in the
water, it might be possible to get 2 separate CD's. So, after I send out
this message, I'm going to launch Netscape, sign my name to that
petition, AND send that letter to EastWest. Hope you ALL do the same.

     But you, Damon, above
all else, should be aware of your complete shitiness, and quake not at the

GOD! ExCUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSE MEEE for trying to offer the jammers
a GOOD DEAL when I see one. I'm sorry if you disagree, but I think
most of us jammers see the list as more than just a list.but kind
of an extended online family.....hence we try to help each other out...
