    >It'd be pretty neat if other people were like this. (There was a time
    >when you were the new guy around here, Pat old buddy.)

I didn't write it just to flame Corey. I had a lot of other info in that
post. I try to be a bit more eloquent than others (Graham comes to mind,
but can't remember exacly what he said to Corey) when I post. Yes I was
a "newbie" at one time, but I had the sense to lurk for a month and learn
the intricacies of the list before I posted. And if you recall, my first
post to the 'jam covered about 9 different topics (albiet 12K long, but
    it was only 1 post).

Disclaimer: This is a response, this is only a response. Had this been
an actual flame, and oxigen mask would have ejected from your modem, and
the stewardess would have given furthur instructions.

    >> Yes, Corey. Send me the $5000, and I will see to it that you get a

    >Actually, Corey, this isn't true.
    >Pat won't really gift wrap it. :)

Bafu, for $5000 I'd drive to Bahr's, get the CD and hand deliver it to
Corey. And still have enough left to buy my new computer. :)

    >> d.) The author didn't get flamed for posting 6 times in the same
    >> digest and not including anything that anyone wants to hear.
    >
    >Gee, I'm not flaming him. Who's flaming him, Pat?

Bafu, the point was that Cory didn't get flamed for his post. I'm not
the only one who has been giving Corey shit about his posting style, I
was just pointing out the fact that when you post something like Cory
Swanson (SP?), you won't get flamed (disclaimer: *AS MUCH*) as if you
post like Corey E. Cleary has been.

    >> Corey, I have a solution for your problem. You can get counseling by
    >> sending the message "unsubscribe ytsejam Corey Cleary" to
    >> "ytsejam-request@ax.com" with a subject of "asdf" Good luck. :)
    >
    >You know, I've been having back pains, do you think this will help?

Not for back pains, no. Besides, the 'jam would be so boring without you
witty reparte. (That's not sacrasm, I'm completely serious)

    >> The Spring Theory:
    >> 95% of all female college co-eds look better in shorts.
    >> The remaining 5% are fat. :)
    >
    >Hmm. Mind if I test this theory by ogling women from my balcony with a
    >telescope and a box of doughnuts tomorrow? It's supposed to be sunny...

Bafu: Go for it! You may want to practice these first just in case
    though:
"Good afternoon, officer, what seems to be the trouble?"
"Hmmm. Complaints? That's strange, I'm just enjoying the scenery."
"I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware that it's illegal to own and operate
a telescopic device from the privacy of my own home in the state of
             Washington. Is it?" :)

BTW, How the hell do you do that EoJ thing!? :)

Hi guys. I just wanted to say something that I've wanted to say for a
long time, especially now that some people have said that the post-Hansen,
Kiske Helloween sucks (I know it was only a few who said this, but I still
want to say what's on my mind). I was just listening to The X Factor and
I would like to say that it's some really good music. I think some people
around here don't give credit to some old bands that are still going because
they don't sound how they used to. I bet that if some other band had just
released the X Factor or music of this sort that many more people would
like it, instead of them saying "this is crap; they have gone downhill
since...". I personally like old Iron better than new Iron, but that does
not mean that new Iron isn't good. Concerning Helloween, the new albums
are very good, especially the latest one. In this case, there has not been
much of a change in the way the music sounds despite the changes in lineup.
So I can't see how people can say that new Helloween is crap compared to its
old counterpart. I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but
it doesn't make much sense to me. So, in conclusion (I feel like I'm
writing an essay or something), I think that many people need to give
those bands a break and listen to the music without comparing it to how
they sounded before. I know it's hard, but it can be done (I can feel a
smart-ass reply to this sentence is coming). Well, that's it kids. Hey,
maybe I'll get flamed for the first time in my life!!! That would be
    exciting. WHo knows. Take care.

This is SO true. Besides Rage, there's 311 and Korn just offhand that are
getting HUGE, and I know that around here at least (Charlottesville, VA)
there's a bunch of local bands who are taking up the funkmetal torch, to
say nothing of the ska army. I can only imagine what's happening in actual
    cities.

It's like the new basic ingredients for a rock band now include:
      a) a furious slap-bass player (usu. 5-string),
      b) one or more wah-wah pedals (for clean jangling or distorted
    palm-muting; wakka-chaka-wakka-chaka),
      c) a jazz-educated funk drummer (w/ piccolo snare and opt. double bass pedal),
      d) a blues-scale shredding lead guitarist, and
      e) a rapping/singing vocalist.
Horns are cool but optional-- risk confusion with ska. Hip-hop clothing
    recommended. Important: NO LONG HAIR.

I personally think this trend is one of the best things to ever hit the
music scene-- because it offers fly musicianship AND it's great party
music! Seriously. Chicks and homies jus' LUV grinding dat ass to those
dope funk beats. Sheeyit. Funk concerts absolutely RULE... usually
instead of moshing there's just grooving. And you all know that I have the
    groove.

Get into the clubs and find those local funk bands. They're all over the
place, and they're a great time. And a better dance vibe than raves or
    dance-clubs.

Can anyone recommend any other cool funk-metal-rap bands? The only ones I
know of are, like I said before, Rage, 311, Korn, and this local band
called Egypt that just fucks it up live. And I need more. Email me.

(One last funk note. "Groove is in the Heart" by Deee-lite: the world's
    greatest bassline ever.)

    Out,

    Scott.

Actually, I think Ytse and Jam help to lighten up the 'Jam (which is a
good thing.) It isn't difficult to skip past them if you aren't
interested. Besides, would you rather see more stuff like this instead?

    Hey,

This message is in response to BABS' post a while back about the
Rush Tribute album being produced by Magna Carta. If this has already
been mentioned here, I apologize, I haven't had time to read all the Jams
    lately.

I spoke with Tim Olayos, a representative with Shrapnel/Magna
Carta, and he said that no single has been release of the forthcoming
tribute album. However, he said it is possible that a DAT of the
unfinished work may have been sent out to radio stations in major cities.
This would explain why BABS heard no keys in the mix.

He also said that the release date of the album has been pushed
    back to early July.

So it looks like we have a couple more months to wait.

                                                    Later,

    Hello Jammers,

I think we are probably better off hoping they get the single album recorded and hopefully they can release a DT EP with B-sides and outtakes. It is unlikely that the record company will put out a 2CD by Dream Theater, the have a lot more popularity than many newer prog bands, but still, we may be pushing our luck, they aren't as popular as Smashing Pumpkins (I think their last was a 2CD). Major Label record companies are mostly worried about selling units, we would have to get about 10,000 names for it to be worth their while.

    Later,

    Mike

Amazing how this starts up just as someone decides to re-post "Ytse & Jam." (For some reason, I was credited with the writing of Joe Kruger's version even though Joe's name was right there in the header.)

Hey Graham. Keep this up and see how long it takes me to start flaming you just for posting your usual condescending remarks. I don't think I've seen a single slip-up on this digest since I subscribed that you and a select group of newbie-bashers didn't lunge at. No I'm not gonna name names, but sometimes I wish you'd learn how to be silent for a change. Do you have nothing better to add than negative commentary towards someone who doesn't know what they're doing?

Oh wait, Corey has no legs around here. I guess that means we should trample him further. Nevermind.

    > Hold on sir, first of all this song is definitely NOT in F sharp, but in > F#.

"Ohh, Benson. You are so mercifully free from the ravages of intelligence." --Evil, "Time Bandits"

Man, if he'd said that to my face, I'd have clobbered him with A sharp stick. Then he'd B flat. His first post, and already he's A Minor disturbance who can't C sharp musicians to save his life...

    > And your intro seem to be a little wrong you see, 'cause you really > have missed out a few # and a couple of notes. Try cleaning your ears, > that'll maybe help.

Or did he mean, "Open ya fuckin' EARS, jackass!" Any Jerkies in the house? Can you hear me in the back?

    > Well, congratulations, 'cause that's the first thing you've managed to > catch!

Well, congratulations, 'cause you've earned my ass. Now start buffing. No no no, please, with your tongue.

    > Well sir, this part is NOT hard to play unless you are a complete piece > of shit.

WHOAH!! Did you hear that?! I can hear the playground kids now! "Damon is a piece-of-shit! Damon is a piece-of-shit!" oops I mean "Damon is a complete-piece-of-shit! etc."

Obligatory Semi-Buddhist comment: Worry not, Damon. For it is far better to be a complete piece of shit than a partial, wavering, uncertain mound of feces. Celebrate your wholeness. Embrace it. And above all, do not seek vengeance upon he who chastizes you for having attained this level of oneness. He too will one day know the bliss you have achieved, and if this moment can only occur through death, then so be it. But you, Damon, above all else, should be aware of your complete shitiness, and quake not at the insults of lesser excrement.

May I come up with one as well? LISTEN and UNDERSTAND their language before you come along and attempt to present your wrong opinions based on a lack of understading of basic grammar. F#? F sharp? F SHARP?! I AIN'T NEVER HEARDA THAT COUNTRY!! THEY SPEAK ENGLISH IN F SHARP??

(For the life of me D, I don't know which of us has been quoting that line longer. I know I've been quoting it longer The Wrong Way...but oh well)

Got that part at 12:42 of ACOS? For either keyboard OR guitar? Then yeah, you're good.

Guess what, Morten. I AM clever. Know why? I can communicate on a higher level than you. Guess what else. That's all it takes to be clever. SADLY, I DON'T THINK YOU'RE EVER GONNA REACH THAT PLANE OF ENLIGHTENMENT, ROOK.

I find it really interesting how a lot of people are saying that Awake does not match up to I&W, especially considering they bought and fell in love w/I&W first. It's funny b/c Awake was my first DT album, and after getting I&W, I felt that I&W didn't stack up. Just a little DTC to ponder.
