You've been playing the extended version of LTL for 2 years. Gee, you are too
good for me, Mort. You know all the DT songs? Yeah, sure you do. If you do
know them, Mort old bud, you know them wrong. sinista, you rule. By the way,
Mort, what's your interpretation of LTL's intro. I need some humor on the
jam. Not that Bafu and the rest aren't funny, but I need someone to laugh at,
rather than with.

Guys and Girls, this is ridiculous. I hope no one had anything
important to say in the middle of the road jams because if I read
them all my eyes would have fallen out.
Aladdin, People's is a pretty scummy place, just be warned of
that. I went there once and felt like the guys in Animal House when
they walked into the all black bar, " Do you mind if we dance with
your dates?" If you are a nice person don't go in.

question: you now how at the beginning of TTT, MP follows the bass w/ the
kick, and the guitar w/ the snare? I s that an overdub? He doesn't do it in
LiT, does he do it on any boots? If he can do that w/o overdubs, then he

Well, because the 'originals' hit it big, the record companies started
signing any shitty band that sounded similiar to one of them to exploit the
you-know-what out of 'em... Of course there are a couple of new ones which
are good too...

I just picked up a copy of the Operation:Mindcrime box set (used for $30
:P). Is the material on this tape different from the stuff on the tape that
is sold separately or is it the same but packaged with a cool CD and book?

It's different than the studio material. The box set you purchased is
actually called Operation: Livecrime and is the live version of Operation:
Mindcrime.

In a message dated 96-04-26 12:52:21 EDT, you write:

     4) What is the meaning of Scarred? Not having the lyrics near me, I
seem to be under the impression that it's about infidelity (in other
     words, cheating) during marriage.
You know those cool shirts Petrucci occasionally wears on stage? You can't
keep 'em that flowy and smooth without ironing them, and there was a time
when he didn't have a guitar tech no iron everything, and well, you can
figure out the rest... I've done it a few times myself... Ouch...

Oh yeah...you mean those shirts with the sleeves? Okay, I see where it all
fits in now. Now, does that guitar tech iron the shirts on stage? Or during
the keyboard solos when John gets off the stage for a breather? I think the
whole interpretation of the song lies in that answer... :P

But it makes sense...check it out...

To Rise, To Fall --- talking about the way the shirt hangs.
To Hurt, To Hate --- John is speaking of the way he feels when the tech
hurts him.
To Want, To Wait --- John sometimes can't wait to get that shirt ironed!
To Heal, To Save --- When he finally heals from the iron burn, he's okay.

You can't hear an iron. He fears it....etc

Well, All I can say is that, "LOUD" the new show on much
music that replaced Power 30, is horrible. There is NO VJ,
just an hour of video's, that's it.

2 words

FUCKING BORING

They were playing bands like Black Flag and Bad Religion,
they did play some Danzig, as much as I can't stand Slayer,
they played that too, but pretty much it was the typical
top 10 bullshit "heavy metal of today" garbage, fuck, lock
me in a room, give me a cd player with all my maiden cd's
and some DT and FW and leave me be for the rest of human
existance, Much Music has now gone down to, dare I say it,
m....t......I can't say the last letter and it's a sad day.

If you guys are tired of getting this kind of "Junk Mail" crap for magazine
clubs in your YTSEJAMS, here is a suggestion for you. Someone at the COREL
forum on compuserve said that the best method for getting rid of this garbage is
to send a polite letter to the postmaster at the server the mail came from. They
will then, in many cases, track down the person and terminate their account.
Since this guy is posting these constantly to our jams, and then can not be
contacted I suggest that we all flood the postmaster at AOL.COM with polite
complaints.

Here is a sample copy of what I wrote.

>>Attached please find a copy of the "Letter" sent to the YTSEJAM mailing list.

>>bandwidth with these types of "Junk Mail". This is not the first time

For the pedants out there, this post is going to be more than 30 lines long.
So, by definition, I suppose I will automatically be skipping it.

Hopefully, though, my Original:Quote ratio will be greater than 10%, Mr
Clearey.

All quotes in this post are (c) 1996 Bafu Vai, unless otherwise stated.

> Firstly, "perfectly safe?!" That "stage" was a three-foot-high large
> rectangular table. Anyone within five feet of that platform was fully
> capable of grabbing James' leg.

Both times I've seen DT, I've been within sucking distance of James' cock
(unless it really IS smaller than Green Day's). Thankfully, I have never
had to go to an all-seater concert (unless you count non-rock stuff, such
as Les Miserables).

I've been crushed, dehydrated, pushed around, overheated, and I've had people
being deposited on my head from behind without prior warning. That's what
happens when you go to a concert.

> Secondly, James wasn't worried, he was concerned for the front row of
> people who were being smashed against the stage for the whole first half
> of the show.

James has obviously never been to a Slayer, Sepultura, Iron Maiden,
Metallica, Almighty, Faith No More, Kyuss, BoltThrower or Pantera concert.

If he had, he would realise that people *expect* to get crushed at concerts,
even if they don't positively enjoy it.

> Were you there, Graham?

Yes, Bafu, I was the security guard.

[stuff about Corey E. Cleary]

> Hey Graham. Keep this up and see how long it takes me to start flaming you
> just for posting your usual condescending remarks. I don't think I've seen
> a single slip-up on this digest since I subscribed that you and a select
> group of newbie-bashers didn't lunge at.

Perhaps you didn't notice, Bafu, but people have been subtly hinting, and
even blatantly suggesting, that Corey should either write more than he
quotes, or quote less than he writes.

I just took it to the next logical stage, i.e. a flame. Call me immature, but
I have had the most stressful, busy, hellish, depressing week of my entire
life, and I was desperate to flame someone. Corey got there first :-) It
makes a nice change to see Bafu come second, don't you think?

> Do you have nothing better to add than negative commentary towards someone
> who doesn't know what they're doing?

Of course, I have many other things I could have done. The thing is,
though, that Corey shows no signs of improvement despite much helpful advice
from other Ytsejammers. He's been at it for weeks, and I got fed up.

You should consider becoming a politician, Bafu. You are almost adequately
out of touch with public opinion. If you were ever to venture on to
irc.dreamt.org 2112, channel #ytsejam, I'm sure some of us would be
happy to relate to you our opinions on the Coreygate scandal.

I know that other IRC jammers share my point of view, and it was only a
matter of time before someone (i.e. me) voiced them in a particularly
abrasive fashion.

> Oh wait, Corey has no legs around here. I guess that means we should
> trample him further. Nevermind.

I have no legs either. I had to get them amputated after a particularly bad
crushing at a violent DT concert. Yeah, right.

Bafu's response to Mr Norway:
> It would appear we have a rampant Jerky Boy on our hands.

You're obviously an expert at tact, Bafu. I should take lessons.

You know, once I've handed in my project thesis on Monday, I'll probably read
a jam or two and think to myself "Oh Shit". But right now, I really couldn't
give a flying fuck.

Thank you and goodnight.

Graham B.

GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!

jeez. i'm on the jam to read about DT and prog music, and other cool stuff

show how cool they think they are. it's like someone said in a previous

Dammit, dammit, dammit. I'll still be up here at school (in a final

And Mojo, say hi to Greg for me.

BTW, anyone that sent me mail on Friday, be patient. My school's

OK, I seem to have gotten to the bottom of all the lost orders
from when my hard drive crashed. They should be reflected in a new update
I'll post Tuesday or Wednesday (as soon as I can).

A 2 CD set? Let's not overdo it, folks. I'll be happy to get an
album at all, and it's icing on the cake that they're going to cram it to
the 75-minute limit. DT is most definitely underground right now, so we
really shouldn't expect Smashing Pumpkins-style gimmicks.

The Jams have really gone to shit lately, hate to say. Nobody
needed to repost Ytse & Jam. It was immature the first time, it's
immature now. I hate to be a wet blanket about it, but if I said it any
other way, it wouldn't be honest. Let's get back to content. Not that
there IS much these days. Nothing new is out or happening.

Damon, I hate to say it, because I usually would jump to your
defense in a Jam debate, but you've been a royal fucking asshole lately.
If you were in the same room as me having these debates, I'd have decked
you by now... I don't care HOW poor your vision is. Blindness is not an
excuse for uncivil manners and a very shitty attitude. Try doing things a
bit differently and see if you don't get treated better. I mean, look at
me for example. Everyone on the Jam is my friend, or at least, I intend
to treat them as such. Life is a party and they're all invited. Anything
that goes wrong is just a temporary setback. You live and learn. And so
far, not too many of them hate me... just a scant few who were against my
voodoo practices and anti-clothing rants and tangents. :)

I'd just like to say that I don't jump on newbies around here, and I
don't want to be stuffed in the same category as those who do. I did not
badger Corey from the moment he stepped up to the platform, but I did hit
him rather heavily when he began consistantly (and excessively) posting
what he did. It went on long enough by the time that I jumped in the
ring to warrant a reation. And alot of people agreed. He has admittedly
gotten better though, I'll give him that much.

KEU: You get the Corey E. Cleary award for senselessly quoting 100x more
that you wrote, and if you talk to Bafu, I think there's a position open
in the Loyal Order of Ytse-Idiots.

I'd like to meet keu@pointblank.range >:)

DT Double CD. I can see both sides here. I think we should support it
with EastWest, but leave the final decision to DT. I'm sure that if they
don't think the material is worthy, that they will go with what works
best.

How about this: A 2 CD set. 70+ minutes of new material. One CD-ROM.
Photos, interviews, .wav files, MIDI files, DT Doom, artwork, etc...

Or maybe just 2 sparate CDs.

Or maybe just an 8-track single, or a phonograph cylinder. :)

I`m sorry! I didn't mean it! I was really happy that I'd worked out
the start of the song (only been paying for a year and a half and never
had a ny lessons). It would now appear that a hornets nest has been
disturbed and they are still stinging 10 Jams later!

OOPS...
I thought I'd send in a little program to get rid of that 'DT vs QR'
thing on the QR-newsgroup... As soon as I saw it on the Jam I noticed
some stupid bugs... I asked "Do you like DT ?" twice... I didn't have
to put in those ?'s, because INPUT already does that...
Instead of checking if the answers are Y's, I checked for J's...
(Ja = Dutch for Yes). Here's an update:

+---------------------------------------------------+
DIM DT AS INTEGER
DIM QR AS INTEGER
CLS
INPUT "DO YOU LIKE DT"; YesDT$
INPUT "DO YOU LIKE QR"; YesQR$
DT = LEFT$(UCASE$(YesDT$), 1) = "Y"
QR = LEFT$(UCASE$(YesQR$), 1) = "Y"
IF NOT ((QR or DT) or (QR and DT)) THEN GOTO HELL
PRINT "DT AND QR BOTH FUCKING RULE!!!"
END

HELL:
PRINT "FUCK YOU"
GOTO HELL
+---------------------------------------------------+
