Sorry in advance about sending such a long post...
There were just a couple of things that I had to get off my chest...
I'm sure I'm gonna feel a lot better after seeing this on the Jam.
--- Damon M. Fibraio and Mort: Could you guys please take it (back) to private E-mail... --- About Graham Borland flaming Corey E. Clearacil... Coul You Rule... Coul = CoolI too, tried to flame Corey a bit, although I was a bit more subtle. Sometimes being subtle doesn't work... Sometimes a /kick in the ass won't even work... Time will tell, right Corey ? --- Anyway, I'm not taking sides here... I'm not against Bafu, he's cool. I'm obviously not against Graham (he's Coul)... Why don't you guys just patch things up & be friends... Shit like this just doesn't happen on the Marillion list. Why does everything here always turn to shit ? If there's an argument on the Marillion list, they take it to private E-mail... They get over it... And those who "Never Get Over It" will at least "Get Used To It" :-) --- A couple of days ago I felt offended by someone on the Marillion list. I sent a post, answering a question he asked about DT's version of Winter... I also mentioned the fact that I didn't like him making fun of me... I didn't flame him, just told him how I felt...
The next day he sent me a private E-mail, telling me that he didn't mean to offend me... I sent him message back, thanking him for his note... That was the end of it... Maybe it sounds a bit corny, but
"Can't we all just get along ?" --- A lot of people around here act like fucking know-it-all's. If you're all such brilliant musicians... Why are you bitching about it here instead of writing/composing your own personal masterpieces... --- What does it take for us to start acting like people with one cool thing in common: Dream Theater... --- When I see a guy/girl on the street wearing a Marillion shirt I feel comfortable enough with that person to start a conversation, without even knowing that person... It's a really cool thing. There's this certain chemistry that Marillion has that brings people together... It's real easy to talk to other Marillion fans... I guess DT-fans don't have that kind of attitude... It's always a fucking competition. t all comes down to: "Mine is bigger than yours...". Screw that... --- I've noticed, that a lot of Dream Theater fans are just out to claim the "Nr. 1 DT-fan"-trophy, to become the most frequent poster or the most talented musician on the Jam... Most jammers don't seem to give a shit about other peoples feelings... real *nice* real *mature*, keep it up... "EVERY JAM BRINGS ME ONE LESS TO MY LAST" --- Mike Bahr said it best: > The Jams have really gone to shit lately, hate to say. . cut .. cut .. cut .. > I mean, look at me for example. Everyone on the Jam is my friend, or > at least, I intend to treat them as such. Life is a party and they're > all invited.
Mike, You Rule ! Wish all Jammers could be (more) like you ! But then again, we wouldn't be ordering your cd's... We'd be making our own !!! :-) --- Pat Griffin (Gabbo!) said: > How about this: A 2 CD set. 70+ minutes of new material. > One CD-ROM. Photos, interviews, .wav files, MIDI files, DT Doom, > artwork, etc...
Cool !!! You rule too ! How's that IRC page coming along Pat ? Can't wait to see it, since I'm gonna be on it too ! The first Dutch Jammer on an Ytse-IRC page ! --- About Mojoman flaming Buster/Dave > M O J O M A N S P E A K S
Couldn't you have spoken a bit softer... or even better... through a wonderful thing called: Private E-mail... That's the kind of shit I was talking about earlier... --- Andrew Miller said:
> apparently i've got an itchy trigger finger this morning, > and sent the damn thing before i realized what i did.
* Itchy says: Nope, I've still got both my trigger fingers... --- Bogie said:
> Until I found the 'Jam! It's like one big happy family!
Yep, It's just like my 'happy' family used to be... I never see any of them anymore... We (my parents, sister & I) have sent a "asdf, unsubscribe family"-message years ago... --- > Subject: Interesting Free Offer........ Fuck that interesting free offer... Stick it up you ass !!! (sorry) --- BTW, Graham... > Both times I've seen DT, I've been within sucking distance of James' > cock (unless it really IS smaller than Green Day's).
I really didn't want to know that... Gheez... I too have been "within sucking distance" at a DT-gig... I just wouldn't put it THAT way... Now, if I had been that close at a Tori Amos concert... If only I was that Bosendorfer of hers...
/me sings: Slag pit, Stag shit, Honey bring it close to my lips, yes... --- Anyway, I've got a little question... Where can I find Dream Theater's version of Tori's "Winter"... I know it's on one of Mike Bahr's discs... But they're probably sold out. --- > Itchy (NOT Bitchy) > Mark Bredius, Bredius@GlobalXS.nl - Itchy@dreamt.org > _________________________________________________________________/\___ > Lie down my dear... you're going to enjoy this C" \ > (Marillion - Cannibal Surf Babe, Afraid Of Sunlight) ()-()\ > ______________________________________________________________/ ~ \ > > > ------------------------------ > > End of YTSEJAM Digest 1490 > **************************
YES ! My second End Of The Jam-post ! 'Only' 22 to go 'til I'm nr 1. (
Bafu Vai, now the #5 poster with 114 messages in 5 months has had 23 End of The Jam-posts ! Impressive... --- There's a lot of love, pain, anger and disappointment in this post... It's almost like a good Dream Theater or Marillion song... The lenght of this post (fucking ridiculous IMO) is comparable to Marillion's Grendel... I actually feel bad about sending this one in... It's probably gonna be one single digest by itself... Just another quicky...
I'm gonna invite those guys on the Marillion list to irc.dreamt.org They've been wanting to get together on IRC for a while now... I asked Skadz if it was ok, and he said it was... (Thanx again Skadz)
They'll probably be chatting in #Freaks... Please make them feel at home and don't scare them off. And please don't make me look like a complete fool... I send a message to the Marillion list and told them you Jammers are cool... Don't prove me wrong, ok ?
They're all pretty cool (nicer than some jammers, I'm sorry to say). I think this could be the start of something really nice...

IMO,"TIME OF THE OATH" is their best album so far. Tracks 'We Burn','Steel Tormentor','Forever and One (Neverland)','A Million To One','Anything My Mama Don't Like','Mission Motherland',and owesome 'Power' really rock us. The 3rd vox.Andi Deris (ex.Pink Cream 69) can't sing like Michael Kiske. But his vocal line and melody sense are worth listening. I saw him play acoustic set ('In the Middle Of The Heartbeat' and 'Where The Eagle Learns') It's really sucks! He can't play guitar. That was the worst acoustic set I experienced. But his melody is nice. This is the point. I like him for his song writing abillities, even though he can't sing well. It's the same situation of Yngwie with Mike Vecela."TIME OF THE OATH" will be GOLD in Japan.(200,000 copies) They lost their way with "Chamelleon" album, this album is shit, Michael Kiske is asshole,I know he sings well, but I hate his attitude "We ain't Heavy Metal band"."We are artists so we have to educate kids." Who do you think you are? Hmmm? Well,Michael'll release his 1st solo album supported by Kai Hansen(ex.Halloween, now Gamma Ray),Adrian Smith(ex.Iron Maiden, now.Psycho Motel). If you are looking for the music style of the old style of Halloween, then you should check Blind Guardian. They released 5 studio albums and 1 live album and their new release is compilation album of rarities. They reminds you of typical German Metal. My choice is their 5th album "IMAGINATIONS FROM THE OTHER SIDE". Dramatic power metal.
Thanks.

I just got back from a two day demo recording at my drummer's house. I forgot how much recording takes out of you.
Whoever suggested the Illusions style DT CD took the words right out of my mouth. The Illusions albums were some pretty damn sucessful albums. Anybody want to start a petition about this? Someone ask the band or their management or something. That's a great idea!!! I'm getting stoked already. That would be so cool.
I have to agree with the funk metal thing being cool. These bands really know how to rock someone's ass and do it well. Sorry, I can't think of any other bands who do it.
Has it occured to anyone else that Corey E. Clearey just wants to see his name on the 10 most frequent posters list? He started doing it when the top 10's started coming out. He probably found that he didn't have much to say and tried to beef up his posts with other people's writings.

Mike. I am just wondering if you are totally aware or not of the whole situation. Somebody posted seomthing on a keyboard part to LTL, and I just wanted to lend what I knew about it. I got flamed, and this guy was a lot harsher to me, considering that he basically came out and attacked me. So, I realliated. I'm sorry, but I take my music very seriously. I work my ass off, I love my ksybaords and keyboard paying. If you are referring to the whole keyboards vs. toy thing, some of it was in gest. Truthfully, I am a bit disturbed by your opinion, but you have a right to it. Although, kicking my ass would definitely not solve anything, a nd I really have to wonder if that was called for. I have taken note of your opinion, but bear in mind that I take my music and my ability very seriously. I worked for 18 years to get where I am, and I guess I am a little self-conscious about it or something. I don't appreciate people pulling what our good buddy has pulled. Civil discussion would've negated the flame. And I don't know if people hate me or not. I know I got friends on the Jam. I am nice to people when they are nice to me. If somebody doesn't like my attitude, well, then, I am sorry. But I have been nice to everybody who has spoken civill to me. I am not a believer in turnig the other cheek, because I am constantly getting slapped when I do anyway, so I am a jperson who retallitaes. Whether that's positive or negative, I don't care. That's the person I am.

Josh, yes the list is about DT, but I don't know if you saw the post that that response came from. By the way, since you are new, I should let you know. I am blind. I read the screen of my computer through a speech access program, which doesn't announce all the symbols like whatever the sharp symbol is. No, this is not the Damon list. If you haven't noticed by now, there isn;'t much DT content around here lately, because we are all waiting for the new CD. So, this is why the content of the Jam has dropped. Yes, there is a lot of flaming going on. Yes, I got excessive. But I explained myself enough and I am tired of doing it. I am not coming down on you, I am just trying to justify what I did. I've gotten some support, which I appreciate.

Another fun post from someone who didn't comprehend the original message - seems a recurring theme lately on the Jam. First and foremost, and this should have coverd it all, he put a _BIG_ "IMHO" at the beginning and end of the message, so that right there should shut you up - but the immaturity of someone needing to get in a shot came flying through. Second, if you have read QR newsgroup you'd know exactly what he was talking about and was speaking to those people who were debating QR over DT and vice versa. Not you, not anyone who didn't know what he was talking about (you). We're thrilled you didn't like Promised Land, BTW, but in the future see if you can actually have the meaning of a post register in your noggin before you post an inflamatory post. It'll cause less stress b/t everyone and it won't make you look like an ass! :-)

Hello Jammers,
I figure I'll respond to most topics since the jam seems to be in the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, and the winning run at the plate, someone needs to come in from the pen and strike out the side.
2CD new album ------------- I'm for the idea of two single disks being released at the same time. If JP says they have this much quality music lying around, I'll take him at his word, though I tend to be critical of music with all this reviewing of bands I've been doing. (and not doing, I've got 10 bands to review for my WWW page right now) I'd like to hear a multi-parted song if there are two disks in the works. Or maybe they could make the second disk a CD enhanced, with songs not on the first disk and maybe some songs that you could change around, kinda like something Peter Gabriel might come up with on one of his CD-Roms. You could take a song and alter Dereks keys from a Hammond Organ sound to a heavy keys-synth, or you could have John Petrucci playing MIDI guitar, Portnoy on electronic percussion, or add ethnic sounds, add a thrash rhythm guitar, have LaBrie singing vocals in a round, lots of fun stuff, or you can hear the songs in their original formats. If any of the band is reading this post, just some ideas to kick around, especiially if some of the sangs don't come together as well, they would work well in this experimental idea, plus the band would be doing pioneering work with enhanced CDs. Plus the second CD could be used in the CD-Rom or the regular player, so it doesn't exclude fans without CD-ROM drives.
The Damon thing --------------- My take on the flammage: Yes that guy was an ass to flame Damon for no reason, BUT Damon should be tactful and flame the ass hole privately, I really don't need to read 10 posts about how this guy is an ass, yeah, I know I can skip over them in digest form, but still, this is really stupid.
Queensryche vs Dream Theater ---------------------------- I like both bands, DT is my favorite of the two, I didn't like Promised Land that much, both bands have some great material, and I don't think it is fair in general to slam a band just because you don't like their album art, which seems to be why a lot of people are slamming DT. Of course QR has the Rage album liner (Holy capes Batman!) (note: Rage for Order is my favorite Queensryche album, though the capes are a great laugh) I showed one of my friends the DT I&W liner, and she thought they were a glam band based on that, I played the CD and she really liked it, the power of the music folks!
Live echolyn ------------ Would the guy on IRC who asked me about getting live echolyn tapes please mail me, I meant to ask you to send me your address so we could finish the trade, but you logged out, right before I typed in the request.
About it for now....
Later,
Mike

Hello Jammers,
Syn-Phonic will be releasing the US release of the new echolyn album. Someone asked what other bands are on Syn-Phonic. The truth is that I really don't know, though it is a stable label. Greg Walker who runs it is the guy who hold the Progfest festival in LA every fall. It has become reknown as the premiere progressive music festival in the USA. So basically the distribution will not be very good, you will likely have to special order the disk from chain stores or get it from Indie label dealers.
