    Sorry no DTC this time...
Just wanted to announce that I finally made a cheezy little
.wav of myself assaulting my guitar for 20 seconds. I made the
file small for quicker download, and I only sampled at 8bit, 11 khz,
mono so the sound kinda blows. I just set my PC mic in front of my amp.
There are no effects racks or pedals
(no not even a distortion pedal...homey dont play dat)).
I am plugged STRAIGHT into my Crate G40C amp, from my Ibanez RG570.
As you'll here, I'm nobody great, but my past influences (like Ronni LeTekro
and Randy Rhoads) are apparent. If you want to check it out, it's at:

    Dude,

To my knowledge, all the Anacrusis cd's are out of print. I
fluked out BIG time by picking up Screams and WHispers in a
cd pawn shop. Check out those places, check anywhere,
    they're a great band.

To the dude that saw Pantera:

I saw them on their Vulgar tour with skid row, let me
assure you, that your concert was not half as good as the
one I saw when they were in Vancouver. They performed every
fucking song off of the first 2 albums. Skid Row gave them
a shitload of time on stage, amazing show. Definently still
doing good after all these years too, still have to pick up
    STK though.

    Hello:
As this is a Dream Theater mailing list which is presumably visited
by prog. metal fans and since I read aposting about Pantera in the
YTSEJAM Digest recently, I felt compelled to let you all know about this
astonishing band. They are called Alter Ego and they are from the NY/CT
area of the United States. Their sound can be likened to,as one reviewer
put it "if you melded the groove and aggression of Pantera with the
technical bombast of Dream Theater, you would begin to have an idea of
what Alter Ego sounds like". This is no lie. Alter manages to be
extremely aggressive yet extremely technical at the same time. How many
bands do you know of that can make 7/8 groove?! Anyway, Alter is signed
to WMMS Records in Germany with a liscensing deal through Avalanche
Records in the U.S. Their debut album,"Mirrored Thoughts", will be
released in the beginning of December. Anyone that is into this type of
music MUST get this band's album. You will not be disappointed.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who recommended that I get into Angra.
I was able to get "Holy Land" and my first impression was - "Hey, that's
Helloween!!!". It would make sense since they recorded it at Hansen Studios
in Germany and thanked Kai Hansen...

After a few more songs, I realized that they borrow from a lot of different
groups to make their own sound. Is "Angels Cry" anything like this? I can't
seem to find any places with it in stock.

    Thanks again.

Hello, My name's Jason Pennington, I've been reading the 'Jams for about a month now, and this is my first post.

First off, the obligatory.... I just LOVE Dream Theater!!!

That out of the way, I recently found the books of sheet music for both I&W and Awake, but they were just for guitar, both notes and tablature. Being a bassist, I was hoping that there might be another edition that had the guitar AND bass lines. For instance, I know that Rush's CP transcriptions are available in a combination guitar and bass edition (which I have), or a guitar/tablature edition.

    Am I hoping in vain?

By the way, to all of the 'Jammers who're trying to get this tribute together: More power to you! I'm very intrigued by the idea, and I'd love to be a part of it, though it'd have to be next summer like someone suggested before I could consider it. If anyone needs a 6-string bassist to complete the quintet........ :) Oh, just so you know, I live in NW Ohio during the school year, just in case their's anyone on the list nearby...

    lata, Jason

    yeahyeah, suuuure u do.... ;)

    > Am I hoping in vain?

simply, yes. as far as i know, a bass version was/will never be released. you might try figuring out the main parts w/ the guitar version. yeah, you'll miss a couple fills and parts, but that would getcha started.

i've found the best way to learn John's lines is fiddling w/ the EQ and then sitting down and /listening/ really really hard.

and b4 anyone asks, no, i dont have any bass TABs, tho i'm pretty sure that some exist...out there...in the great wilderness...

hmmm, look at the time. King's X should be hitting the stage right about now. guess i'd better mosey on over to the club :)

Hello, Been here for a while, but this is my first post in ages! I've got 2 questions for today... Im driving home from my girlfriend' house , and I'm listening to the local Alternatrash station. (Sometimes you hear Rush late at night) Well, amid the plugs for the local Alternative cover bands is this group called "Whiskey Gypsy" that supposedly does DT, QR, Rush, and their own stuff as well. Anyone ever heard of them? I don't think they're from around here (Upstate NY), and the ad said that they have a CD, "Misfourtune Teller" Maybe I'll check them out... Are there any jammers located in Upstate NY in the vicinity of Watertown or Utica (I'm 30 miles from both cities) that would be interested in ,well, jamming? I play guitar and I am desperately, DESPERATELY, looking to get a band going. I mean, I am going frigging insane! It's just me and my little Yamaha QY-22 sequencer (which is a pretty snazzy machine, I might ad!:]) all day long! I need help! Well, thanks for tuning in...

    Good morning,

Was that Christy? I'm shocked if it was. She is usually much more on the ball about current releases. I guess the asleep at the wheel nature of Canadian radio finally caught up with them too! :(

    >BMS: Burning my Soul, sounds like female menstrual condition.

Oh boy! If you aren't looking for third degree burns, you'd better put on your fireproof clothing, especially on IRC! ;)

    > ps. New pearl jam sucks!!

As good as their last record was it? I hated Vitalogy. Shitty production and second rate song writing. I would consider giving it the Grammy for most overrated and over anticipated album of the year along with worst album of the year.

    >a Who cover -- not sure of the name, it's the song with the refrain >"I'm getting closer to my world." They went a little extra distance

Actually, that would be Closer to Home by Grand Funk Railroad. :) A great song though, whatever the title.

    >of his life. He also spoke at length about working with Sam Taylor >and then not working with Sam, which is one of the reasons why he's >happier now. :)

It's a shame that relationship didn't work out. Sam's production gave them a very polished sound, but maintained enough edge to let it rock. Oh well, on to bigger and better things!

    Cheers,

    Rick Toronto
