For those few (I hope) who still don't have the official fanzine

The correct Italian words of the sample in Take The Time are:
"ORA CHE HO PERSO LA VISTA CI VEDO DI PIU'"
which means:now that I have lost my sight, I can see clearer. Those that appear
on the video and on the (otherwise perfect) songbook have the same meaning, but
they are not the right words.
The sample comes from the 92 oscar winner movie "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso" (new
heaven movie house) by G. Tornatore. The character who pronunciates those
words is Philippe Noiret, but I don't know the name of his Italian voice.
I just cannot guess the origin of the mistake but I am sure of what I said,
and any other Italian ytsejammer (are there any?) could swear I'm right, because
the words are pronounced clearly. So I would like Michael Kizer (thanks for
your job!) to correct the songbook.

                                        Thanx

Did they talk about something about how much time they spent in the studio?
Well, I've heard (from somewhere I can't remember) that in the beginning
they played together 8 hours a day.. is it true? Do you know something
    about their practice time?

And any comment about their Marquee album? I mean I think James did his job
later in a studio..? Just my opinion. Yes, maybe I'm doubting Thomas but I
can't believe he can sing live in that way it's on the CD.
Anyway, thanks for the answers and sorry if these questions have been
talked out in the past but I read the digest for a week or so...

Sadly enough, I prefer spending my time with my CDs than my computer. :)

Yeah, that subject were the main reason that now I prefer reading this
digest than alt.music.dream-theater. I hope that meaningless and dull
    topic won't appear here.
Anyway, let me ask you who is better and why Oasis ripped off DT.. ;)))

So let's clear this up... I think it's pretty hard for you Americans
to imagine how to say this. I guess, most of you would say it like
'burned' (what is cool somehow :) but the right way would be if
you just put an 'nd' after the word 'bear'. So 'bearnd' would
    be quite ok. :)

    Bye.

    Burned. :)

Hey everyone! I went to see Tori Amos last night; she puts on a
great show. I'd never heard her before, so I don't know what songs she
played. The audience was really rude, and that pissed me off;here she is
pouring her soul out and the audience (probably having gotten stoned or
drunk between acts) is yelling at her.
Speaking of opening acts, it was awesome. It was a guy named Willy
Porter (?), an acoustic guitarist. He played with this wild percussive
style. It was a great show.
I'm going on vacation, so I won't be replying to anyone for a week
    or so. bye.

If I remember "meine Deutsch" correctly, it should be
pronounced "Barent" as a single syllable. :)

On a totally unrelated note, let's all take a couple of deep
breaths and settle down a bit here.
The solution to all of the whining about the tribute is
    simple.
If you have opinions regarding this project, then post
constructive, intelligent messages. Any information on personal
availability, studios and rates in your area and accommodations for
    commuters will be very helpful.
On the other hand, if you have nothing helpful to say, THEN
    DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!!
Being a pessimist will not help this situation at all. It will
increase the amount of arguing by coming across as a taunt. "This will
    never happen because.........."
Whenever anyone takes this tone with me, it immediately gets
my back up. No one has the right to shoot down anyone's aspirations or
personal goals, unless they involve hurting others. Don't tell someone
that he can't do something and expect him to give up without a fight.
This thing might succeed and it might fail. Either way, I
suggest that we get behind those who are interested in doing it. The
bickering that has been going on here is very childish and is miles
away from the spirit of good humor and chemistry that makes up DT, to
say nothing of its distance from the normal family atmosphere that
    exists on this list.
If any of the band have been reading recent Jams, I'm certain
that they are thoroughly disgusted with us. All of the bitching that
is being posted here should be done PRIVATELY!! There are NO EXCUSES
for making this public. "He said this about me on the Jam, so I felt
it was my right to respond in the same manner here...." WRONG! This is
not a WWF event. If someone is immature enough to attack you publicly,
show the world that you are a cut above him and take it to e-mail if
you HAVE to respond. The rest of us will thank you for it, as it will
save us from having to read through miles of inflammatory garbage. No
one wants to read these moronic name calling sessions. They are off
topic and should be done offline as far as this list is concerned.
When ACOS was released and DT credited us in the liner notes,
it was a true compliment. However, since they have identified us as an
influence on them, we now have a responsibility to live up to as well.
We must act in a way that reflects positively on the band. Remember,
anyone who has purchased ACOS may be subscribing to this list as a
result of reading about it in the liner notes. Do we really want DT to
be seen as people who make decisions partially based on the wishes of
people who constantly insult each other and can't carry on a civil
discussion in a public forum? That certainly will not help their
    career.
            Just something to think about.

    Cheers,

    Rick
    Toronto

         Hey all,

I've been sitting back for about a 100 jams or so waiting to chime in
(and find the time to do so), and it took the mention of King Diamond
to finally get my ass into gear. Mercyful Fate and King Diamond were
once my favorites without a doubt until DT came along. I've been a
long time prog. metal fan and it was MF/KD that started it all for me.
I remember the first time I heard FW "Awaken the Guardian" and
thought it similar to MF/KD. So to me it was just a natural
progression. BTW, I seen a lot of people ask about FW and the albums
to get. I think that all of them are great (with the exception of
"Night on Brocken" -- a little to Iron Maiden for me). "Awaken..." is
my John Arch favorite and "Perfect Symmetry" is my Ray Alder favorite.
When I first heard WDADU on the advice of Jim Pitulski himself, I
thought the playing was great but I didn't really like Charlie and,
being a guitar player of 19 years now, didn't like JP's tone. Boy was
I happy when I&W came out!! That downright kicked my ass. I already
owned a Mesa Boogie Mark IV, so I automatically fell in love with JP's
new tone. "Awake" was also stuck in my car (and my wife's car, too!)
for months. So, to ask me which one I like better? They both kick
ass!! ACOS goes without saying and "Live at the Marqee" which I found
by chance when I lived in Belgium for three months. Holy Shit!! These
guys are even PERFECT in concert. I have seen them twice at
Hammerjack's (Hey, MD/PA jammers) and thought they were excellent -
LATM just verified that for me. Wow, a 100 jams worth of thoughts
really gets long, doesn't it?? I guess to end this all up, someone
mentioned Mercury Rising, is that the Baltimore based on or is there
actually another band with the same name? I played a New Year's Eve
gig with them and Mystic Force back in 92/93 in a band called Vortex.
Definitely check Mystic Force out, they have a shitload of CD's out
and are worth listening to. In fact, they often open for FW when
they're in town! I've also heard from them that the guys in DT are as
cool as everyone keeps saying they are on the jam. Wow, musical
genius and cool personalities all rolled into one! Well I really
better get going. I don't want to hog up the whole jam.

         Keep Jammin',
         Rick Pierpont

P.S. We are all in this together and should stick together.
Sometimes people say things that we don't agree with but patience and
tolerance really are virtues. Keep the peace!!

Thanks. I've got one. Will you relax? This is and has been a dead
    issue on the jam.

How's it going you crazy people?

Well, the time has come. Weather you like it or not, here's the results of
the profile poll. Sorry, I couldn't get the survey on any other lists.
Tough luck for all of us:)

    The Average Jammer:

Well, they have a grade point average of 3.55. Suprisingly, not one of the
responses contained a gpa of under 3.0. Good work jammers!

The average jammer is also a guitarist who meddles in one or more other
instruments. 77% of us are in fact musicians.

The average jammer is involved in either baseball or softball. Very few of
us are not athletes of any sort.

And, last but not least, the average jammer has an income of $52,619 a year.

Remember, no one is really an "average jammer." You are all special.
(sniff...I...I think I just got a warm fuzzy:):)

    Later,
    Cory

    My fellow jammerz

Read in the paper today that "Working Man: A
Tribute to Rush" will be in stores next week. This
was reported to the paper by Best Buy so I can
only assume that they will be carrying this
release for us!!:^) They didn't put a date by the
release, just said next week. I will be going out
there this evening to pick up my pictures and the
new ALice in Chains, so if I see the date it will
be released I will post it here later.

Also in the same paper was a concert date for the
King's X show with the Galactic Cowboys opening
for them. The show will be August 28 at
Mississippi Nights in St. Louis. Any St. Louis
area jammers interested in going to this show,
please e-mail me as I would like but am not big on
going to the show by myself. I would only do that
for DT. (had to get the DTC in here somehow)

First, my apologies if this has already been covered on the 'Jam, but I
    think this deserves some attention.

    Get your hankies ready...

Directly off of The Primus Cheesy Homepage...

    "A Friendly Departure"

Primus and drummer Tim Alexander have parted ways. "It's something
the three of us have discussed for a while." said bassist/vocalist
Les Claypool. "We all want to take the music in different
directions. Unfortunately for Tim, Larry (Lalonde) and I tend to want
similar things creatively." Claypool added, "This difference in
opinion I think left everyone less than satisfied. Over time this
developed into a rift that was eating away at the stability of the
band. After the last touring season it was evident to all of us that
    something needed to change. "

"As we all know, Tim is an excellent drummer and I'm sure we'll see
great things from him in future projects," Claypool continued. "As for
Primus, Larry and I are extrenely excited to move forward and will
announce our new drummer soon. We are now writing and plan to start
recording in December. I would like to see Primus continue well on
into the next century - our new drummer will reflect that same
    attitude. "

    -

There you have it. There are rumors floating around that the Chili
Peppers are breaking up and Primus is considering getting Chad Smith (of
RHCP) but that's just a stupid rumor.

On to lighter things: Can ANYONE tell me how to get ahold of Sieges
Even's "Sophisticated"??? I've SCOURED the net for them and I only find
one site that has them (CDEurope) and they only have their old, crappy
stuff! Anybody know of a source that has that album? Otherwise I'll
have to start making long distance calls to places that don't have web
pages and that can get expensive!!! =(

I think that's about it. Hasta!

40% of the last jam was just yourself. You may be impressing the hell
out of yourself; but myself, I'm getting a little tired of it.

Scott, thank you very much for this! Be careful, it's Dave (the) KING!
