Also, is it an all ages show, 18 or over, or 21 and over? If there is any
other info I would like it to. Please respond somone. I really want to
attend. But as some of you know I live 4 hours from NY down in PA and I
need the info as soon as possible so I can make some kind of arrangement.
Thanks,
Robert Barker (Ibanez)
P.s.Boy does the Rush trib kick some major rear. WOWOW!!!!!!!!!!:) (no

Yeah, they could dress up in the dorky alien costumes and everything.
On a slightly related topic, there is a Star Wars tribute band called
Twin Sister (made up of some members of the now defunct Sometime Sunday)
that has an independant CD and four song demo out. I haven't heard
them, but it sounds like a cool novelty act.
About the current state of the 'jam, I personally like it quite a lot.
I have been a member for well over a year now (I was here back in the
arastar days), and it is (surprisingly) more civil than it has been in a
while. It feels more comfortable now. Even the flame wars of late
haven't been THAT bad. Thanks for all the cool people here.
Just got my KX/GC tix last night :))))))

Hey Folks-
I just unsubscribed from the jam (going to Europe tomorrow for 2 weeks).
I called many music stores in Baltimore today hoping that they would have
the Rush tribute. Every one of them said that they did not have it. Then
our fellow jammer Elliott Kim suggested Borders music. So I called them
and they had it. So if others have had difficulty in finding it, try
Borders books/music.
The tribute is pretty good. The very low point of the album was the vocals
on "natural science." I think the guy who sang it is Devin Townsend. He
butchered the vocals. I guess he thought "natural science" is a death
metal song. What band is he from anyway?
Well, off to Europe. I'll be back latah!

David Alderman was a talkin' bout Star Wars tunes....
The best cover of a Star Wars tune EVER done on cd is most definately
on Buckethead's Giant Robot Album. Unfortunately, this album is hard
to get, and when attainable, costs between $25 and $40. I like
Buckethead too much. :) Maybe I'll put that on a
compilation sometime. For whoever wrote me about trading tape
compilations (not you Carlo or Mr. Allen, cuz I'm working on your
stuff now), I think I'm just going to do it through that 3 tape comp
trade mentioned in an earlier jam. That sounds like it will be
excellent.

their name is nowhere on the outside.
This CD rocks! Mike's drums sound awesome on this disk (actually they're

The combination of Mike P. and Billy Sheehan is pretty awesome. If you have

im new to the jam but not new to the music. these guys are the best
on and off the stage. i had the amazing experiance of attending the
dec. 29 birch hill show. WOW!!!!! it smoked. I was surrounded by
jammers and caught one of mikes sticks, and hung around afterwards to
meet them at the bar. Being a drummer myself i was overcome when my
hand came down with the stick. I mounted it on my wall with alot of
DT memorabelia. Got one question, After many, many listens to voices
and hearing the many references to religion, what is that song about.
email me if anyone can answer. it would be appreciated. until then
sit back and enjoy the sounds of the most listenable band to ever

The Studio Version of Rage and War is not bad, it's funny
to hear the lines "son of a bitch" and "god damn right"
with all the FX on it, hearing it live off of Final Bell or
Ghost in the Ruins, seeing how they're both the same cd's,
is better, its actually cool cause they just yell it out.
Jon sounds great on it too.
Jon and Zach are 2 different types or singers, zak or zach
hehe (not like we'll ever know the fucking truth of how his
name is spelled) is a bit better of a singer. You look at
jon and see how much control he has live, which again, both
singers have, It's really hard to say, who is the better
one. The music to an extent changes with the new singer,
being zak but not a great deal.
btw I loved ALL of DWD, I got no complaints about jon's
work, he's amazing.
HOR is a good album but it does NOT beat out EOT. I just
got EOT today and it's amazing. I would place HOR on the
bottom of my list, just above Gutter.
Yea, whats up with jon not "legally" allowed to be in
Savatage? To me, Savatage is going to be and will always
be, Jon and his brother Criss. Those 2 really took the band
and expeanded it so damn well, jon especially. His musical
style has changed a great deal from the earlier days.
I'd love to hear them live, I was talking to a friend, that
is trying to get a hold jon (old High School friends) I am
going to make a criss olivia tribute page but not just a
blurb, a BIG thing and if we can get a hold of jon, I plan
to get criss bio info, like where he was born and all that.
The live albums that they have out are great but the crowd
sounds so fake.
Anyways, for now, blasting EOT :) going deaf and proud of
it hehe

Mmmmmm Bar-Be-Quuu Mmmmm!!!!!
Howdy everyone! I just wanted to tell you that I think that Kenny
Myung is the coolest person in the world. I must say the fact that his
brother is a world class bass player has not gone to his head. He does owe
me his life though. One time while at work, I caught him as he fell out of
the baler.
DT did an instrumental show at Sundance back in 1990 or 1991 and let me
tell you that it rocked. At one time they were very frustrated that they
could not find the right singer. They even considered going as an
instrumental 4 piece. I know they could make it without a singer, but let us
hope that James does not leave the band. I loved John Arch's work with Fates
Warning, but he would not have fit in DT. As far as I am concerned the other
guys that auditioned were worse than Charlie. Editors note: I happen to like
Charlie's work on WDADU, maybe it's because he was the singer when I got the
album.
TOM SAUM SHAVED HIS HEAD!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Kenny is so cool!

I dunno about that one. I remember back in the 80's, it seemed like every
pop-rock band was putting out albums with 8 originals and a cover tune, and
it irritated me. (The ones that come immediately to mind are Motley Crue
doing Jailhouse Rock, and Winger's cover of Purple Rain - hey, I had no
taste in music back then. Sue me. :))
It's just and idiosyncracy of mine that I hate gratuitous covers thrown onto
an album that way. It's different in the case of a tribute album, though.

I agree. I've been on this list since back around #800 or so, and although
there have been good periods and bad periods, it has *never* been so bad
that I would consider unsubscribing. (And I never skip 'jams either. :))
I think the lean times tend to fall during the summer when the # of posts
naturally falls off. Maybe the percentage of flame-content has something to
do with the weather. :)

Man, the past 24 hours or so have just been phenominal. First, I got to
hear the two new rush tunes last night (Thanks again, Bolo!). While the
lyrics leave a lot to be desired, the music is cool. (Please, no
debates. E-mail me if you want to talk TfE.)
However, the real news today is "Working Man." Good lord, these guys
have been practicing. Mike Portnoy and Billy Sheehan are such an
outstanding team. I mean, 90% of this album is pure euphoria. Of
course, everyone has listed the highlights, so I'll share the "wtf"'s
with you.
First, it's cool that some of the lineups are the way they are. Like,
for instance, the one track Eric Martin sings on doesn't have Billy
Sheehan on it. Weird, but Robert Berry does a great job with it. (Who
is he, btw?) Same with JLB on Red Barchetta - nice switch in lineups
there. As much as he and MP flow together, he works nicely with Steve
Morse and the Cynic gang.
Sebastian Bach - did he hit puberty? I didn't recognize his voice!
Sounds great, but much lower than I remembered. I'll have to go find
some of those old Skidz albums again.
JLB on "Red Barchetta" - I'd been debating this one in my mind for quite
a while, but James is now far and away my absolute favorite rock
vocalist. Between this and "By-Tor" it's, it's... I'm speechless.
JP on "Jacob's Ladder" - mmm...
That break in "The Trees" - DING! Shit, yeah. ffidh.
Stu Hamm - damn, he's good. If I listen to "YYZ" once more, I might
consider taking lessons on bass.
Devin Townsend on "Nat Sci" - is someone stepping on this guy's nads?
God, he sounds awful! Total black spot on an otherwise amazing album.
Does he sound that bad on Vai's stuff?
Mark "Helium" Slaughter - um, Beavis? Did you speed up the tape after
you sang? But, you know, that high-pitched, whiney voice kinda fits
"Anthem".
Quick take on the highlights, since I just can't stop talking about this
disc:
"Working Man/By-Tor" - Holy shit. I peed myself in glee.
Jack Russell on "Analog Kid" - Damn nice.
The Shadow Gallery boys here and there - Wow. As good as their album.
I could write all night, so I'll stop here. IF you don't own this yet,
go get it now. Turn off the computer, get your credit card, and GO!
This album is the next best thing to new DT (and probably better than the
new Rush will be. :( )
